- The New York Giants are in serious, serious trouble. Their Quarterback Daniel Jones played horribly last year, but when diving into the film, it wasn’t really his fault. No, he’s not good, but he didn’t stand a chance based on the Giants lack of surrounding talent, ability to scheme open receivers, or inability to protect their Quarterback. How bad was this whole thing? This week’s episode uses the coaches all 22 game film to analyze the New York Giants horrible offense surrounding their Quarterback Daniel Jones.

Great video as always, Alex!
I noticed the same thing lol
This.
So THIS is why nobody talks about Andrew Thomas as a top 10 lineman. The other four bozos overshadow his elite play.

The #1 problem for the Giants has remained the same for a decade now - they can't build even a mediocre offensive line and without one you will never be able to consistently compete in the league. At least Schoen now seems to be determined to invest resources into solving this issue, but it's impossible to predict if this year's line will turn out better than last year's line. I hate to say it, but I don't believe Evan Neal will ever play well for the Giants.
They sell out Giants stadium every week, win or lose. The owner thinks it's a lot cheaper to build a crappy team. He makes more money that way.

Excellent analysis!
The lazy thing to do is to lick your finger stick it up in the air to see which way the wind is blowing then find clips that reinforces that. BUT YOU LOOKED AT THE FILM FIRST, and let it tell the story, from the scheme, to the QB, to the O line, to the receivers we know now what the real issues are.
THIS is what I tune in for.
Yes...Daniel Jones is not a great QB but he's not a bad as people think
.he on a talent starving team..
I hope nabers helps but I wanted Penix
@@jameshollister8294it’s people like you that make me chuckle. They have the same line coming into the season plus Malik Nabers. What makes you look at this team any different than last season? The Maras got Yall fooled and they’re laughing straight to the bank.
Thanks brother!! Yeah definitely went into this one expecting it to be anti DJ more so, but the rest of the team was brutal
@@kevinstewart8054 The same line? They literally picked up Jon Runyan and Jermaine Eluemunor in free agency and they have a different O-Line coach with Carmen Bricillo after thankfully firing Bobby Johnson (funnily enough, Carmen looks very similar to Brian Daboll. I would have sworn they were related if I didn't previously know they aren't lmao). 2 new players and a new coach is very much not the same line.
Cody Bellinger is a baseball player. I think you meant Daniel. 😂
Daniel Bellinger went viral last summer by showing up to camp absolutely shredded! He'll be awesome this year!
Andrew Thomas also got hurt on the first drive of the season. Saquon missed multiple games and DJ played in 4 games not 6. 2 terrible games, 1 ok game and 1 great game.
Still trash
Their first game was a 40-0 blowout.

@@tarvisson1989 he played fine against Miami
Giants were 3 plays away from a playoff berth last year.
They have had a pretty bad run of drafting o line outside of Thomas for years now. It really hurts when a team uses high draft picks for o line and they don’t pan out so they keep having to invest draft capital into the o line instead and of other important positions like WR to help DJ.
Evan Neal was a bust from the start. Only thing that could salvage his career is moving to guard
Could be worse, could be Panthers level bad
Anyone else remember Brian Daboll hollering at Daniel Jones on the sidelines for holding onto the ball on a Third Down where NO ONE was remotely open?
You mean when Darren Waller was wide open in the corner of the endzone and Daniel jones threw a pick 6 to Witherspoon when he panicked like he always does with pressure on?
@@rawswisher43 I'm sure we're not talking about the same instance, but I acknowledge that there's endless yards Jones left on the field. I also acknowledge that Daboll has put even more pressure on Jones rather settling him down. Of course your QB is gonna make mistakes when he's uncomfortable for 90% of a game + he doesn't have anyone who can win immediately off the line of scrimmage. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Believe it or not, it's not illegal for Jones to make a tight window throw... but I understand your confusion about that, as he never attempts it.
Tight window throws are for PLAYMAKERS which we haven’t in the 5 years prior to last season. Waller was our 1st bonafide playmaker since OBJ
@@yepdontcarebud It may not be illegal but if its not in DJ's skillset then he'll rarely ever pull it. Not all QBs are built the same in skillset especially with ones that can't be taught.
I really like the way you've been explaining basics in your recent videos -- just explaining things like what a "read" are instantly makes your videos much more accessible to casual fans. It sets this channel apart from other football analysis channels and I think you should keep it up.
Thank you!! It's challenging, I'm always trying to balance things for the more casual fans, and the more "advanced fans." Glad you like it!
Thank you Alex! I'm not a Jones fan but people lazily put all the blame on DJ when coaching and supporting cast is the primary reason for this teams failures in recent years. Good to see a well presented video on this point
QB's are the leaders of the offense. They get all the praise & blame when you win or lose. Comes with the territory. Obviously, DJ gets a lot of blame because he doesn't win enough.
@cooldude7821 good point. That's definitely one of his shortcomings
Giants paid him 40mm a season and let Saquon walk.... who took the blame?
good breakdown 👏
Saying "Cody" Bellinger through the whole damn video is wild lol
In 2022 our line was bad but not terrible. Last year they were utterly ravaged by injury AND terrible. So we need the line to improve and stay healthy. We got some help in the off season, so i remain cautiously optimistic. We don't need to have a top 10 OL, just not DEAD LAST.
People $hit on Danny Dimes but how many non hall of fame talents would have success being that offensive line?
Common sense being spoken here. 💯
While his surroundings aren’t good, that doesn’t mean he’s good either. We need to stop making the two mutually exclusive
@@Chrisd0ntmissit’s the same thing Justin Fields believers do
@@patek9789 Good point. I don’t watch Jones enough to judge him one way or another but you’re right on about Fields.
Probably mediocre compounded with a bad o line and you have the man the meme Danny Dimes, who’s better than Fields.
@@Chrisd0ntmiss While I may agree that DJ isn't that top shelf QB that lifts talent around him, it is harder to evaluate what he's actually *GOOD* at when everything else sucks around him on offense. Especially since GM Schoen gave DJ the big multi-year contract with no weapons and a only great LT to work with. Guys like Kirk Cousins didn't end up breaking out as fringe QB10 type guys playing alongside scrubs.
It has always come down to the O line and I have no confidence they fixed it this year either. They are still playing musical chairs with the players in the line.
I don’t know why they can’t get it right. That Nate Solder signing was a disaster but you can’t blame him or Gettleman anymore as both of them are gone. Is it a scheme issue? But how many coaches can you blame? Must come down to long time scouts or ownership
thank you for the update Alex!
Not the Cheeks Blown Out! lol Love your Videos and how you break it down... Keep em coming.

"He took ten sacks..."
They gave up like 85 though and he just played until week six so it was awful no matter what.
@JohnDoe-230 Jones and Devito both create sacks. Neither has picket presence.
The only QB on our roster who does have a little bit is Tyrod (still not great at it), and he played for like 5 minutes before getting hurt as he always has in his career.
Our Oline is NOT good, but our QBs absolutely make the problem worse.
Also neither Jones nor Devito get the ball out quickly, the advanced stats on this are available to everyone...
@@yepdontcarebud Jones gets the ball out at an okay speed when you take out QB runs. Something I did not know. was that on a run play for the QB even when they past the line of scrimmage and can't throw anymore it still clocks them while holding onto the ball running for like 8 seconds. So pure pocket passers get the ball out quicker almost always by the numbers just off that alone. Granted yes both Jones and divitto held onto the ball a bit too long sometimes but it definitely only accounted for maybe the occasional sack here and there. Main thing was both guys didn't throw the ball away enough on 1st And 2nd down when none of the receivers got open And ths line failed. But again 2 other things were also going wrong. You got to be good at all 3 levels of offense. They were basically just a rushing team. Even the offensive line was better in the run than pass for sure.
@@JohnDoe-230 running QBs get sacked more because even running plays are counted as sacks if they lost yardage and the qb is the ball carrier.
Ok we all know Daniel Jones isn't as bad as he plays because the team sucks. Be that as it may he still is mid at best not superbowl caliber.
Giants were dumb declining Jones 5th year option, and not picking that 5th year up to buy them time to address the o-line thru draft and free agency. That's what killed them in the end, their new GM thought he'd shortcut his way, but instead is carrying on what the previously fired GM started. Huge mistake on his part.
Bro it would’ve been dumb as shit to accept his fifth year option at the time. Daniel jones had an awful 2021 campaign and the original plan was to draft a QB in 2022.
@@jeremysworld1968and he was coming off a neck injury
@@jeremysworld1968 A 5th year as a prove it year for DJ isn't bad. Daboll/Schoen can take a good hard look at their roster talent and tell ownership they want to hit a proper rebuild with someone else at QB for 2024. Which can buy time for those guys to improve the roster. Because the problem now is making the most out of the long term deal paid to DJ *while* trying to improve the roster as fast as possible. Besides no young QB/cheap run game is going to flourish if the Giants O-line issue aren't solved in the long term.
For once a pretty comprehensive analysis of DJ from last season. I see most analysts, lesean McCoy for instance bashing DJ for the season he had when he had the second worst oline in history in terms of sacks and didn’t have a wr1. Meanwhile they criticize Jalen hurts way less who had 2 wr1s, the best oline but completely choked mid season. I’m not saying Danny Dimes is our franchise qb but give him a decent oline and a wr1 and let’s see if he makes a significant jump, which should be assessed this year since the oline on paper looks solid if healthy and so is the wr corps with Nabers as wr1.
A lot of the TV analysts don't really go in depth, I'd look elsewhere for analysis!
Great video. I was get called a Daniel Jones fanboy whenever I defend him for the fact his team is utterly awful. While he isn't one of the best quarterbacks in the league and there is room to improve at the position, there are much more important areas of weakness that are far worse on the offense that NEEDED to be addressed first. The only year that Daniel played with an OL that wasn't BOTTOM 5 in the league (ranked 21st I think) they made the playoffs and won a game. I'm not saying he's the guy, but he's far from the main problem right now.
That's NOT how reads always go, 1,2,3,4. That takes TOO long. Elite QBs read the D in 2.3 seconds and throws to the correct option based on if its Cover 1 man or cover 2 man, if its not man then cover 2 zone, cover 3 or cover 4 quarters. The first thing, the read we can make on the couch is if its Middle of the Field Open or Closed: MOFO or MOFC which means a safety in the middle or no safety middle will change go routes into a post to the vacant middle.
Love your content man keep it up. Also could you make a video on Jessie bates elite season?
Bates is so good bro
Dude, you nailed the DJ issues. Very fair analysis. Would like to hear your thoughts on Daboll and Schoen sometime.
Thank you! Honestly after watching the first Hard Knocks episode, the Giants front office came off extremely underwhelming imo
Daniel Jones is just not good, as Stephen A. Smith says he is just a scrub. No disrespect whatsoever.
He has never been good, they need to move on.
I wish Jones and his family nothing but health, prosperity, happiness and many many children. But we need to move on from him.
The best the Giants can hope for is they come up with a legit scheme. The talent just isn't there. Another great upload, Sir.
I'm going to do a giants franchise let me know if y'all got any actual sleeper QBs because I ain't using Jones
When last season is talked about for the NY Giants QB's and the backups playing better, jones faced Cowboys, 49ers, seahawks , dolphins. He had a rough schedule, ppl were injured, the didn't address the O*line until after ward with Pugh etc.....
Just saying, it's hard to judge when they haven't given the dude a decent shot.
The cardinals game, the second half, should show he atleeast has SOME of it in him.
3:48 Evan Neal stands straight up and crosses his feet, leading to him easily being shedded.
At a HS level you are taught elementary basic concepts like wide base, low man wins. In the clip Neal false steps and takes a step backwards with his left foot, instead of taking a 45 degree angle step toward the defender.
His footwork and fundamentals are atrocious. Giants must have drafted him on athletic ability, but without technique he is revolving door.
Andrew Thomas got hurt on the first drive, Saquon missed multiple games, DJ played 4, evan neal has zero IQ, and dabol doesnt even make the offensive play calls anymore... its absurd and feels like they are self sabotaging. I mean shi we couldn't even lose properly to tank for a better pick in the draft LOL
"No diddy!!!"👀
I think they are on the right track and they are lucky to have good management/coaches. Saquan wanted to be a giant for life and went to the eagles for one million more dollars. They got a number one receiver and got oline help. I think they’ll do better than what everyone says they will
From a cowboys fan I always thought DJ had potential to be a pretty decent qb just never really had the chance to grow and develop with the offensive lines he's had
Also never really had weapons even though I think the Judge/Gettleman era killed his career immediately. He was kind of a gunslinger in his rookie season but just kept playing super safe after that. Also feels like he rarely plays with the touch like he did in year 1
Trevor has same stats..
But a better offisive line
Jones def need work but he no where near the worst qb in leauge we need to do better giving him talent to help
Yeas but his anticipation and leverage lack
GREAT BREAKDOWN 💯🫡
Thanks brother!
"All hail the New York Giants!!!"
Who is CODY Bellinger ?
It's DANIEL Bellinger.
smh
Bro, the Giants never really had great seasons… They managed to get hot going into the post season…. The 2007 team was a Wildcard.
Even Beavis and Butthead could've said Jones is not the answer at QB, & they could've traded down & acquired AT LEAST two high-quality offensive linemen.
The offensive line makes the quarterback.
Perhaps over-consumption of hard liquor and/or hallucinogens make the Giants Power Elite draft wash-outs that make them the laughingstock of the rest of the NFL.
I thought this was released this morning. LULZ.
Giants have the most insecure O line in football. The QB has to be ready to run after 2.5 seconds. Giant Receivers cannot seem to shake their defenders. But Daniel has to stop being a hero and forcing plays on the run. He needs to throw the ball in the dirt or over into the sidelines. If his running back does not get 6 yards on 1st, he immediatly goes to the pass. Bad move. He must tell the team he will not throw a pass until the team runs him a couple of consecutive first downs. If you can't run the ball, you can't win with just the pass with the Giants weak line. Jones should just keep running the ball until the Giants do or die. Get Jones some first downs of just keep them running until they produce of break down. Jones has to stop trying to do everything by himself.Jones can't win if the Giants can't run. If they can't run, Jones can't pass.
Who was QBing the Giants in 2022? What QB after DJ is better than DJ? Keep in mind DJ was the Senior Bowl MVP. Drew Lock was the next QB drafted in round 2. Will Grear was drafted in round 3. The Giants don't have a QB problem. They had an OL coach problem, and he's gone. Jim Harbaugh didn't trust JJ McCarthy, which is why he leaned on the run game. Bo Nix got chased out of the SEC. Michael Penix Jr. had a very good WR room.
Was in 14 person fantasy league last year and Daniel Jones was never once on a roster. I know FF is not realistic, but a starter never being picked up is kind of crazy
Same thing happened to Mac Jones and Justin Fields too. These horrible teams put QBs in impossible situations and folks expect a Super Bowl. Joke franchises
Soooo is it bad coaching or dumb players? DJ doesn't trust his line, bails early and sees ghost but... he has a right to be this way.
The very first play of this video you said once saquan comes open. That right there is the problem sawuan was wide open jones should have thrown it before he came out his break. This is a perfect example why jones sucks. Player literally has to be wide open for him to hit him
Bingo
QB rules 101: if you SEE them open, it's too late.
That was my favorite breakdown of a team ever.
Thank you!
Agree with you about the support around Jones, but not the overall disappointment over the last decade plus. As only 5 teams have won a Super Bowl sense, the Giants won last. Eagle 😞, Tom Brady, Chef, Broncos, and Seahawks. Teams like the Lions, Jets, Falcons, Raiders, Colts, Commanders, Miami, Jags, Browns, Houston, Chicago, Panthers, etc. All have a more disappointed fan base.
Yeah I'd say there are more tortured fanbases than the Giants even for two plus decades. Hell the Chargers have been gifted another legit top 10 QB and the first thing they did in a few years is not build correctly around him and latching him with fraudulent defensive HC.
Jones will throw to anyone with a jersey. Makes me wonder if he's colorblind
2022 was the top end they could get. 2024 they need to have Malik Nabers to be the elite wr he is and then with daboll taking over play calling again aka what made him elite. They could sneaky get 11 wins again. But that's cause even in their dumpster fire last year they almost won 10 games. Not 10 good wins but almost
I love this analysis. It delves into the game where everyone decided to give up on the kid. I would always argue that he is punch drunk out there.
Thanks to the coaching staff if they dnt have a winning record by the time they vs Philadelphia daboll and shoen gotta go
Why to do your homework with this instrumental 🔥
I love Daboll and they got a nice defense but I think the Giants are gonna be the worst team in the NFL.
You can either build a team and then get a QB, or get your QB and then build a team around him.
Giants tried and failed at both approaches.
We been is serious trouble for how long now
Daniel Bellinger* but yea as a giants fan your spot on. I hesitate to defend DJ to not sound link a biased lunatic but hes had no help.

Darren walker actually retired too
Some teams sell their souls for SB's. The 2009 Saints come to mind. The New York Giants sold their WHOLE soul for SB42 & SB46. They will NEVER see another SB ever again. Mark my words and this is from a die hard Giants fan.
I know this is the other New York team, but at this rate Danny Jones is going to be seeing ghosts too

Daniel Jones has the worst foot work I’ve ever seen from a NFL Quarterback. The giants could easily win 1-2 more games a season if Jones cleans up his footwork and becomes a more rotational thrower.
His brain is the biggest problem.
@@yepdontcarebud no. With good footwork just naturally get through progressions. No way the giants traded up to get a guy that was “dumb.” The guy I’m sure is incredibly football smart but because of his poor footwork he misses throws and is late.

Year 3 in a 4-5 year rebuild. I don’t see a problem here. Everyone wanted the rebuild. Everyone wanted the outside hires at GM and HC. This is what a rebuild looks like.
