Your build looks great! I had to buy this kit as soon as I saw it on sale at Hobby Lobby. I remember in the early '70s when cars like this with paint-jobs like this were in all of the hot rod magazines. Painted the body white w/ silver pearl and used candy red and metalflake blue on as much of the interior and drive-train as I could. Then, I had to buy another one because I really like '55 Chevy gassers in metalflake blue! Like you said, a real fun kit to build.
Monogram did the 55 Street Machine and the Badman. This kit has the parts to build either one. Awesome kit. I bought two and have the old ones unbuilt 😃
I want your workshop!! Very nice very neat! I'd build 6 days a week if it were mine like I was back in grade school and I built models as much as possible unlike now where I just curate a collection of vintage kits

Love this kit! The only drawback is the front of the door lines, almost non exsistant. Wish my hands were steadier so I could rescribe them. Like the holes in the rear bumper, gotta remember that trick!
Ever notice that 55 like the badman seems to be chopped, I always thought it looked off but Glen on model cars with Glen brought that up and now I realize it, looks cool when you look at it that way

This is essentially the Badman kit , and is indeed a throwback to my childhood as well. The ONE thing I would add when recommending to "anyone" would be that this kit does lack some positive connection points, so that could create some headaches for some.
Looks excellent! I remember those tires. Came in the tan 69’ z/28 with multi color stripes. I’m going to have to pick up one of these. I already have a two lane blacktop idea for a build. Keep em comin.👍👍
That turned out pretty good! I'm glad that you didn't paint the body - it wasn't necessary. I used that Revving Red on my Monogram "Red Knight Of Vienna" model. It turned out pretty good but I had a lot of problems with the model in keeping it together as it was so delicately designed. At any rate...... I almost bought this kit yesterday at Hobby Lobby. I have the Hot Rod magazine version that I bought in 1986 but never finished. I had to do some sanding and refitting. I'll make new hinges for the doors and hood. I think I might glue the deck lid (trunk lid) shut. I don't have a spare tire for it any way. I use Spaztix for all my chrome now. That bare metal foil is no better than using aluminum foil with 3-M spray adhesive on it! This only looks cheap especially on all my 1/12 scale cars. The Motolow pen works good from what I've seen but I don't want to pay $14.00 on it! No more than I would use it I just paint with an airbrush or mask off real good then use the spray cans. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us to enjoy. This was a real edifying lesson.
Awesome job on a great kit! My daughter got me one for Christmas along with the Spirit of 57 flip nose kit. I plan on building them at the same time. Hopefully mine will look as sweet as yours!
LOVE IT! Got one week before last. I also had a Badman when I was a kid. One of my first which means it didn't survive, but I picked up a reissue and is in my stash with all the other Tom Daniels kits I used to have except The Cherry Bomb. I was disappointed in the Scool Bus it didn't have the screening kids windows like the original had. I think 🤔 the Badman had the tank in the grill didn't it? I do remember that big air foil on the front. Can't wait to get back to building again.🤤
Super cool Kenny, it's a really kit that I think you will enjoy building! Love the Tom Daniels kits as I don't think there is a bad kit he/they came out with. There are a few issues of the School Bus kit with the windows your looking for. 👍🙂

It's the Flysea Chrome Paint Marker Kevin. So far it seems promising, I'm still doing a few more tests with them before I give them the 100% approval!!
Hmmm 🤔, yep, same parts as that Badman I just built except they give you an extra grill and extra set of wheels looked like. But that's alright, still "Kewl"! Oh they've got 327 on those decals and that's what came in this Badman, a smallblock, it sure wasn't a 396 bigblock but don't matter, be alright! Rock on 🤘 Tim - bo!!

such a great kit and a very well built one at that, if only they would have had some red or green tinted clear as an option, decal sheet looks better than i expected, the 55 was one of the first models i ever built, all be it a 1/32 snap tite kit, so i just simply love the body style of the tri 5's
@@THROTTLEPOWER blue tint would have been great too, or even yellow for that matter, just something of the old gasser era that stood out, always cool to see these kits looking sharp though
2/7/2024 Update: there will be an aftermarket decal set to do the original Badman. I had not realized that Revell had put all the Badman parts that had been missing from the later street machine versions back in this kit. When those decals come out in April, I will be able to finally get one of these iconic kits on my shelf.
Looks outstanding Tim, The 55 was the first car I build as kid 60 years ago, You know I have to had this one when it come out and I still have 3 ATM to build but always get side track with another build I want to do.Would love to know that paint marker you used for the chrome, with my shaky hand bare metal foil can be a pain. Hey Tim, been looking around TH-cam looking for best method to enlarge the rear wheel wells for old gassers. Lots of kits i see they made that bigger, but can't find good tutorial. Your model looks cool.
I love that revell brought these back and include the differant biuld. Awsome but the 66 malibu ss 2n1 doesnt have the blower but it has the belt DOWWW
I know STS Scale Model Decals will make any decal you want. I've got decals from them in the past and was happy with them. I did a video showing the stuff I got.
Great job on the five-five Tim! If you built kits that well as a kid you were better than most! I have an older version of this kit (black with flame decals) that I will eventually build as a gasser probably using different wheels and tires. As a point of conversation, is it just me or does the C pillar look a little thick. Also it seems to me that the body is too tall from the top of the fenders to the bottom of the body. I would like you thoughts (as well as other modelers) on this subject. Anyway I really do like this release of the kit because of the options and decals.
Yea, something about it seems a bit off Daniel. But It's a classic and I was really happy they brought it back out especially with a GREAT decal sheet!!!!!!

I was just teasn' ya Frank on the vid. 👍🙂 No, I didn't remove the exhaust, it was built as a shelf model so where it's sitting now it will never be moved. With that said, I decided to not spend the time doing that. If it was going to a show then I would have completely removed and cleaned up the underneath. 😊
I remember the badman kit. My dad got it for me for Christmas wnen i was like in 6th grade. Didnt paint it and the chrome fell off cause i didnt know about scraping it off. Lol

Hey Tim, been looking around TH-cam looking for best method to enlarge the rear wheel wells for old gassers. Lots of kits i see they made that bigger, but can't find good tutorial. Your model looks cool.

Is the wheel well round on top or flat?

I know STS Scale Model Decals will make any decal you want. I've got decals from them in the past and was happy with them. I did a video showing the stuff I got.

Great job on the five-five Tim! If you built kits that well as a kid you were better than most! I have an older version of this kit (black with flame decals) that I will eventually build as a gasser probably using different wheels and tires. As a point of conversation, is it just me or does the C pillar look a little thick. Also it seems to me that the body is too tall from the top of the fenders to the bottom of the body. I would like you thoughts (as well as other modelers) on this subject. Anyway I really do like this release of the kit because of the options and decals.
Yea, something about it seems a bit off Daniel. But It's a classic and I was really happy they brought it back out especially with a GREAT decal sheet!!!!!!

Great job. I seen this twice now. First time battery died while watching at the park. Did you remove exhaust on yours? The chrome came out very nice. I’m enjoying my kit. ✌🏻👍🏻
I was just teasn' ya Frank on the vid. 👍🙂 No, I didn't remove the exhaust, it was built as a shelf model so where it's sitting now it will never be moved. With that said, I decided to not spend the time doing that. If it was going to a show then I would have completely removed and cleaned up the underneath. 😊

I remember the badman kit. My dad got it for me for Christmas wnen i was like in 6th grade. Didnt paint it and the chrome fell off cause i didnt know about scraping it off. Lol

Not big on the Red White Blue scheme. But i have some awsome orange paint would make a perfetct Orange Crate!
