FOTE is one of the best mods for Atilla. And being developed by the man himself, dresden, should already give enough eagerness for those who are yet to try it
I love the barracks tree in this MOD, rather than splitting Infantry, Ranged and Cavalry, it splits the troops into Limitanei, Comitatenses / Legio, and Palatinae. I love making themed armies in which this compliments.
I have been waiting for a review on this ever since I downloaded these mods I can say without a doubt that my Attila experience has never been the same again
FOTE+EP is indeed one of the best mods for Attila, especially a mod that utilizes the vanilla start date. Also to add the Last Roman and Charlemagne get some love too. I just wish they'll add additional new factions, doesn't have to be many and give us a juicy update for 2022.
Only issue I had with FotE and EP was nearly every AI settlement and army being infected with disease, so the second I leave my borders my armies instantly get sick, and then they are useless till it runs its course and kills off 90% of the troops. Sometimes getting infected causes integrity to drop till they mutiny. It became not fun to deal with. I'm going to try removing EP and see if it's the one that causes this. FotE units do look amazing. I did try EP + FotE revised, which does say it gives the AI 1 additional sanitation to avoid a sea of plague, EXCEPT on legendary difficulty, the difficulty I play. Another weird thing I noticed is you can't enter water without a port anymore? Sure it makes sense, but it makes getting around hard. And when you hover to move into water it always makes the game drop to like 3 FPS while it pathfinds all the way to a port and into the water...
I just found about those mods yesterday and you post a video about them, awesome! But what I noticed is some cavalry deals no damage at all and when roman legions they throw their pilas half of the unit is gone.
Fall of the eagles is a very enjoyable mod. EP is just an all out crisis playthrough mod, which is not to everyone's taste. Playing as West Rome, you are paying huge amounts of cash for absolutely worthless units that will rout with more than 60% ppl alive in it. Buildings are too costly (upkeep wise) to be worth building. EP is crisis on every single front (especially at home). What's more is that almost any question or critique towards the mod will result in its creator being a jerk and blocking you
question i see this video is about two years old and i just bought atilla. have you tried fireforged empire? as a new player which is better in your opinion - Fall Of The Eagle or Fireforged Empire
I know its little but I don't like that the WRE and ERE in this mod have the chi-rho symbol. I like to play Graeco-Roman polytheiism. Thats why I like so much the wre eagle or the ere phoenix.
Something is wrong with my system. I have attila on an SSD but when I download these mods the game grinds to a snails pace. 4-5 FPS on the campaign map and takes over 15 minutes to load into a game. Such a shame because I wanted to get back into attila with these mods.
I have been playing this mod for 200 turns as ERE, and it is amazing. However, there is a problem when someone declares war on me (ven if I don't call my allies), they can refuse to participate and automatically declare war on me. This really needs to be fixed. Otherwise, perfect!
Let's also remind people about a hidden feature of this incredible mod. If you like playing more than 40 turns the game literally turns into a russian roulette you can either progress in it or just lose all the campaign. The roman factions hit the limit of 300 units and the game crashes every time on the Ai's turn.
The only temporary fix is to actually see in which region is the army that moves when the ctd happens (spoiler alert: because of fog of war you cant) and use maga to trade that region
People, Including modders just don't seem to understand the period in history. The developers obviously did. Cavalry charges, in that era WERE overpowered. It was a great shift in the way battles were fought, the Romans were slow to adapt, still preferring array infantry, the cavalry was regarded a secondary and inferior wing of the Roman army, which still favoured heavy Infantry line. The fast moving Germanic peoples, like the Goths took to this cavalry warfare and exploited Rome's weakness in this area. The Roman WERE weak then. Somtimes a game suffers from being too balanced, the 3rd -6th centuries were not balanced. They really really captured the period for this game, better than they had for any other in my opinion, they nailed at least that aspect of the game.
Yes I'm having an issue while trying to start any mod on Attila the game crashes. I don't know when I had a crack version it was working but now when I bought it it's not working so maybe I'll return to crack. At the beginning it wasn't launching at all so I tried to find a solution on TH-cam and it worked but with the mods it keeps crashing and doesn't work
Yes, agree, and great review dude. FOTE+Europa Perdita Reloaded+Revisited is the best combo for Attila right now. Can I ask you were i can find a 12 TPY submod for this combo? mod page says zero compatibility with any 12 TPY mod at all. Hope i'm wrong, coz i always prefer long play campaigns :)
@@TheTerminatorGaming Don't do it, you actually use outdated version in this presentation both for FotE and EP (fixed version is "EP Reloaded"), which is not supported for like 2-3 years (and really strange to see something that doesn't exist any longer). I agree with you. I dont know what exactly made the EP team make both Roman empires so weak. Like, your initial units cost a fortunes but are kind of worthless, while barbarians have nice units that you can actually do stuff with. The selection of initial roman units to recruit is absolutely terrible but expensive as hell. Some Roman troops that should have held their ground and won, somehow lost to one with 2-3 attack more than them and almost 30 less defense than them... I also dont get why the EP author decided that city building has to be so bad for you and that you need to have a public order + religious crisis in every single city. Hell, I even switched to Roman Paganism, looked over a province with almost 70% of that religion and it still had -9 for religious differences.
