p.s. On the turkey and veg video I gave you the name of a natural pond company in Canada for you to get healthy and safe pond conditioner, that’s even used in fishing ponds safely.
You have a great system there with your ducks and geese. I LOVE the duck parade! Watching those little butts waddle is just too cute! Your land is absolutely beautiful.

Good afternoon from England! It’s very interesting about the geese protecting the ducks 🦆. Thanks for educating us. Have a nice day….
So nice of you
Such a beautiful start for your orchard. The old tree is so hallow, yet it is producing. Wow, that is mother nature doing her thing.
Exactly, I can stick my whole arm in there and yet it’s seems to thrive.
I just found your channel and I plan to watch every video.
Thank you for sharing your farm with us! 👋🏾🙇🏾♀️
@@kayblossom6428 aww thanks, welcome to the farm 👨🌾
I have a peach tree that is hollow still giving peaches too, it amazes every year. I could watch your pond all day.
It’s like the centre of the tree has no purpose, weird but very cool.

Me too, if I didn’t have so many things to do I could watch them all day long.

Good Morning from Sioux Falls, South Dakota sending much love and light....I have a suggestion for the harvest of mulberry tree...what we do around here is lay down tarps on the ground all around then we tap the tree usually with the skid loader or tractor. Just tap the tree and all the ready berries will fall....❤ I can't wait to see the next episode have a wonderful beautiful Blessed day!!!
That sounds like something I could try, thnx for the tip 😁
Happy Canada Day. Horseshoe Valley looks so scenic, maybe I can take a drive up there in my Subaru one of these days.
That would be very cool, super scenic in the fall.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I'm sure it looks awesome in the Fall

Good Morning Chad and Olive. Since watching your videos I have learned so much about farm life and the animals. Ducks are funny when parading to the pond. lol Olive is a good high jumper. She is so beautiful. Must be nice to have your own fruit trees. yum Well until next time have a safe week. My Felix says MEOW to the claw crew.
Good day, thnx so much for the comment ❤️
geese graze really well, I am not sure they can beat rabbit for sustainability as the diets are both easy to fulfill with rabbit having a leg up in the reproduction year around possible and feed conversion. the only farm animal with better feed conversion is the modern cornish cross ( no sustainability as no reproduction viable). I bet the pigs would love to hang out under mulberry tree when the extras start falling to the ground lol. could be great cleanup crew in fall as you dont want any rotten fruit to stay on the ground to invite pests to the orchard. thanks for sharing and Happy Canada day to you too.
You’re so right though, rabbits too 🐇
I love hearing about your ducks and geese. I'm on a 1/4 acre town block with 12 ducks. 5 indian runners. 5 cayuga's and two khaki Campbell's. They're so interesting and loveable.
I also have 15 hens and one rooster. I did have 2 silkies to, they are the deepest hole diggers.
Totally agree, I can just sit there and watch & listen.
You might be ready to bring in some seasonal bee hives in the spring.
Don’t think I’m ready yet but bees are on my wish list…I just wanna do it right.
the white color in cambell ducks is a recessive trait so two of your brown ducks must have had those recessive traits hidden by a brown gene. genetics are amazing
Very cool, just like how our Maggie barn cat can give birth to an orange one.
@@HiddenSpringFarm exactly! keep up the great work, I love everything you guys do!
The duck pond doesn't look as clean as it once was?? Wow your trees and garden look great!
Apart from feather debris, it’s green colour from the algae bloom. Need to find the right balance I guess and maybe some plant life.
🍁
I noticed your pond is getting a little green. Would you consider getting water plants 🪴 like Lilly’s to help filter the water from all the duck/geese poop? Love your videos! Miss Molly!!!
Yes it’s algae, I think the ducks would just ruin water lilies. I’m still researching which aquatic plants will work and not be easily disturbed by ducks. I may get some algae eating feeder fish too.
I do enjoy today video 🇯🇲 ❤
Nice! 😊
Your videos are getting better and better I think, keep it up
I appreciate it!
Good info on ducks and controlling insects organically
My last name is Orchard. So I can confirm, every Orchard needs ducks.😆
😂
Hi fozzy bear

Happy Canada Day! This is a very beneficial video Chad. A few months ago we sold two white Chinese geese to a gal with a bunch of brown ducks and they folded into the flock well! She sent a video which I put on our channel. If you like to see it I’ll send it privately. We have a honey locust tree on our property as well as a ton of black locust with thorns. We were wondering if you can buy the thornless honey locust. You said it was the “enormous” variety. Is that correct?
You’re making us like the ducks more and more!
It’s spelled INERMIS I believe and does not have thorns and in some cases does not have the legume seed pods, I specifically looked for this variety cause of course the honey locust will be regularly pruned as it gets bigger and I don’t wanna get pricked by thorns. I bought them from our local nursery.
Love canada ❤❤❤❤❤
🤙
Good show ! Nice to see all is moving forward 👍.
IF you borrow the back hoe again at Mulberry pickin - day 🤔. .
Honey cud ride the bucket up & pick those high top Mulberrys ;
IF she's willin 🤨, you know . ha ha Good Health always ! 🎉🎯
* NO Mulberrys for the ducks , they be making ' duck - butter ' everywhere they go !
Stresses - out their digestive tract. . . .👋. . 👋
Happy Canada Day!!! ❤🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

HIDDEN SPRING FARM BABYYYY
🤙
I know nothing about ducks but did once read when studying dominant and recessive genes that the Khaki Campbell ducks can have white offspring due to a single recessive mutation that suppresses all colour. The Khaki ones themselves are from a genetic mutation of the wild Campbell gene pool. That's all I know.
Even the brown khakis have patches of white sometimes
We have khakis too! What organic food have you found for them? (I'm in Canada too!) The duck parade is so darn adorable!!
I usually give em Rolling Acres poultry layer feed from Peavey Mart
@@HiddenSpringFarm Thank you for answering!
ugh i LOVE your channel so much! it’s so calming!!!
random question: would you ever keep bees??? not even just for honey but as pollinators
Awesome, happy to hear it. And yes we will get bees as we believe we need more pollinators for the gardens & orchard. I want to build a bee barn but have so much research to do if they can even have hives in a barn with access to outside. I still have to figure it all out but it’s in the plans 🐝
Can you talk a little about the maintenance on the duck pond? Do you have to treat the water or does it take care of itself
I will video in the future, I’ve only been cleaning the filter at this point but once I have a solid opinion I’ll do a video.
Campbell ducks are a human made breed. They have been bred to be the way they are and 1 9f the breeds to make them is the white duck. So it's not so uncommon after all. 😊❤
Very cool
You need some bees
I want to build a heated bee barn. Bees don’t hibernate very well in cold climates so I wanna help them survive. I have so much to learn about bees though but we will get bees. 🐝
So what do you do with all of those eggs? Do you keep any, let them hatch, give them to others who are interested in guard geese or ducks?
You should have some children to pass this knowledge onward.
Do the mice and rodents do damage when the cats are indoors at night?
We haven’t noticed much with the mice, but we are having an issue with rats. I’m my experience cats don’t handle rats well as they are fairly big and bite them back. So I’ve been trying to trap them but they are hard to kill as they’re very intelligent.
Nice video again, always enjoy. Just curious for clarification, but only a few videos ago you used Trounce insecticide in the orchard, but you state in this video the orchard is organic and no sprays at all are used on anything you grow. Technically it's an organic insecticide though, so I may just be thinking it's not organic farming but now read it is allowed, my bad. It is highly toxic to cats and honey bees as Pyrethrin is highly toxic to them, but breaks down quickly so won't stick around. In general pretty safe, even for egg laying ducks and chicken, dogs, etc.
It’s a fair point, I guess I r just thought of the over the counter stuff as weak compared to commercial insecticide and ddt. We do use it sparingly for the first time this spring and its seems to have helped the trees keep their leaves from being skeletized.
@@HiddenSpringFarmI actually read since it contains organic insecticidal ingredients, you're all good. Even if you wanted to sell and abide by regulations of what is organic it still is. I was just curious until I read that.
Hello.
Can you grow avocado where you are?
No Canada is considered a cold climate, things like avocados, orange, pomegranate, lemon can’t survive our winters. We typically grow apples, pears, cherries, peaches, plums, nectarines which actually require a dormant period.
Do you have a well or two to feed the farm????? How deep? Nothing tastes better than well water.
Our well is 150’ deep I believe and the water is rated in the top 5% for quality across Canada. Best tasting water I’ve ever had.
@@HiddenSpringFarm BINGO.
Hello there, I was wondering at what time of the day to let the ducks out so you don't have eggs all over the yard?????
We get the occasional egg in the orchard but mostly they lay first thing in the morning inside the duckie bunkie.
@@HiddenSpringFarm Thank you, and I enjoy watching your beautiful videos and the ducks..lol
God's blessing
Horticultural, fowl and animal management is truly a science. And society says “he’s just a farmer!”. THIS is truly the oldest and most vital profession!Where would we be without it? Great that it is also so soul and spirit satisfying.
Happy Canada Day😊!
Totally agree 👍
🇨🇦
What happened to the old geese pls update them im talking about the 2year old geese that video you made about 10 things i like about geeses
@@SA3_Editz they are a part of this video it’s just that two geese are taking turns sitting on a clutch of eggs but the geese are the same ones.
Why don't they fly away
I said in the video they can’t fly more than a few feet off the ground, unlike wild ducks that can fly far distances. I think they just prefer to forage.
Awesome farm .. HIDDEN SPRING FARM..🦤🦢🦆🐣🐔🐓
😁
So what do you do with all of those eggs? Do you keep any, let them hatch, give them to others who are interested in guard geese or ducks?
All the above. Eat em, sell em, hatch em when I need to or want to sell the baby ducklings or goslings.
