    3 years ago when I first heard Dimash sing in English I always knew that for him to break into the US Market he will need to improve his English. He's since improved heaps. Personally, it doesn't really matter to me as music is a universal language. As long as the emotion is conveyed one can feel the music and feel what is being sung.

      Yeah, but as an English speaker listening to Dimash's english song's. Im like "YES, A Dimash song in English!!" But when i hear it, I have to look up the lyrics because im having trouble understanding his words. Also listening to the lyrics and understanding them makes the song so much better. Like i listened to love is like a dream with cc and i got way more goosebumps.

    Actually Igor Krutoy says the same as you. If Dimash wants to make it big in America or in the rest of Europe, he will need to improve his English accent. However to me it doesn't really matter. I love his accent. I think he needs to learn more English to communicate but I don't mind his lovely accent when singing; it's kind of part of his charm. Rock, RAP, Classic, Opera, POP. Role play and yodel. Charlie’s voice is super flexible. One of his nick name is ‘Song Killer’, cause whatever song were selected by him. He’ll sing it better than the original.

    A very interesting bunch of performances for you as a vocal coach may be Dimash's different versions of Know where he improvises in a mix of jazzy scat, central asian ornaments and melismas, and pop-rock power over a highly chromatic theme. Start with the version with lyrics (Know New Wave 2019) and continue with the fully improvised vocalise (aka Ascolta La Voce) versions from his concerts in Kiew or St. Petersburg.

      @@ramseyvoicestudioAscolta de voce is the name under which the vocalization of the song Know (with Russian lyrics) is usually stated. It is really an experience when he does it. He is just playing with the melody, using his voice like an instrument to improvise the song. It's stunning and so different from the actual song which is another great composition of Krutoy.

    I read a few comments about him learning better English to conquer America . I love most Metal bands, hate most Rap music, but both have one thing in common: One barely understands what they're singing! I think it's more to do with Dimash's music. Most of us saw his concert in NY. He sings his songs in Chinese, Russian, English and Kazakh language, the crowd loved it, even sang along. Dimash wants to introduce the world to his heritage with his music, not streamlined pop music. Still not a problem until we get to those classical interludes, which we all love. Same with Nightwish, even Lara Fabian! Metallica had the same problem with their symphonic album, even though it was played on radio, shortly after they went back to the regular versions. What I see it's not that the people reject this music, it's the US media who will have to "bow" down to him and widen their musical horizons. Aren't we all fed up with artists who sound great in a recording yet when hearing them live it's utter crap? Also, as always I love your reactions.👍

    • @ramseyvoicestudio
      @ramseyvoicestudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks about my reactions. But if I get you, you're saying the media here doesn't accept him? or his style of music? And when you say the other musicians went back to their regular versions, you mean non-classical? Just trying to understand

    • @ingemaus6368
      @ingemaus6368 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ramseyvoicestudio yes, I think the US music media somewhat rejects that whole idea of mixing orchestra/opera with "standard" music. I used Metallica as an example, when they recorded their symphonic/heavy metal Album years ago, the radio stations played some songs but soon went back to the regular versions. It didn't matter to the band, since it was supposed to be a one-time thing. But if it wasn't for youtube most of us wouldn't even know about Nightwish, Dimash etc. Yes, you can download their music to your phone, but first you have to know they exist! Sorry, English is my 2nd language.

It's just a statement of fact. It's also a statement of fact that his slight mispronuciations and his Kazakh accent bothers us not at all...it's sort of endearing. I am also sure you know how difficult it is to sing in a language that's not your own and that he is studying English and his pronunciation is getting better and better. Other than that, like it or not, English is pretty much the ligua franca of today and Dimash is wise to be learning English since he goes to many countries and can't learn every language on the planet, yet he will be able to communicate because which ever country he's in, there are usually a number of people who speak English along with their native language. When I first started messing around youtube, I was shocked at how many people spoke English as their 2nd language. Before that, I'd never given it much thought. Also, many English speaking people also speak other languages. So, carry on. Your assessments won't bother than many people and whoever it does is free to 'change the channel' :-)

    You're right, if Dimash wants to conquer the USA market he has to improve his English because most Americans only listen to music in English and are very anoying with the accent theme, it will be very difficult that at his age he does not have an accent, but I hope he can improve enough. On the other hand it is true that at least for me, it is not necessary to understand the lyrics to feel the song and Dimash is very good at transmitting the emotion, he always reaches my soul, I can hear him singing in any language and I love it. Yo, Ramsey... I'm a Dimash 'Dear' and consider him one of the best singers to ever live. That said... kudos for having the courage of your convictions. Diction is, I repeat is, a key element to communicating with the audience while singing. This element, also, is one of Dimash's very very very few weaknesses; and he realizes it! View some of his early performances on specific songs to more recent ones and you'll see a vast improvement vis a vis his English pronunciation. That said, I'm sure Dimash would agree his English diction still needs work in many areas. So... stay bold and honest, and handle what 'heat' comes your way with class, just as you did in this video.

But she can only actually sing 5 octaves , Dimash can sing 7 octaves if you count vocal fry bringing him down to A-1 plus he's hit D-8 at least twice. The other time was in concert shortly after writing Unforgettable Day .If Dimash wanted the record if he wanted it, and at 1 point he unofficially did at D-8.

    People underestimate how difficult it is to sing in a language that you do not speak, specially when you lack the means to work on your accent. To me, it’s one of the hardest things to do in singing. Celine Dion still sounds nasal in English at times, guys. At least Dimash is a hard working professional that works on his accents. Lady Gaga made billions with unintelligible French lyrics in her song, and never cared to improve her accent. When initially Dimash was criticized for his dictions in French and Mandarin, he worked hard to improve his pronunciations! And you can hear it in his later versions of SOS or Mandarin songs. I mean he started learning Chinese for God’s sake! He’s a humble hard working perfectionist! Unlike some of the arrogant wannabe celebrities we have that call themselves singers. I have the utmost respect for Dimash, and am certain he’ll improve his English accent too to wow us even more!

    and also, about the accent in English, Dimash sings songs in 12 languages, do you think it is possible to sing them without an accent? Many great Italian opera singers came to Russia and sang Russian arias with an accent, but no one criticized them for their accent, but admired their vocals. Try to sing in Chinese like Dimash did to Chinese and ask him about your accent?

    I enjoy your videos. I will say he was only 22 or 23 when he sang this. Since then his voice has lowered a good bit. Though I agree he is a Tenor that has managed to extend his range both ways. My thoughts are he only belts in his tenor/ counter tenor type ranges. He can and does use his full voice in his lower range. Which has become richer in the last 2 years. There is a distinct difference from the Singer to now. If he was a true baritone his lows would have been fuller even younger. Just my own perspective on his *normal* range as Dimash is anything but normal. He has worked incredibly hard to have that extended range. I think not so much to say as a lot of fans do that he has a 6 or 7 octave range but to be able to express his feelings in his songs.

Dimash was brutally put down by music experts and critics before the Singer competition in China and even after until Krutoy returned from the retirement to promote and take Dimash under his wings. So in the world singer he did not disclose that he was mislead. He covered for them saying that it happened that he’d have to compete against children .... and in his culture you mentor children, it’s inappropriate to compete with them. To add insult to injury the judges made him look like some sort of quitter who let everyone down. In addition they edited the video making it look like he quit not before his performance, but after the criticism I. Which one of the judges said that she got he could sing, but she wanted performance and emotions. And you know how Dimash builds up,but in the singer he just does the intense part.
