Finally!! A gardener that trusts the mad genius of nature! I'm so tired of this neat, cookie-cutter, organized look on vegetable gardens. Way to go sir! Embracing the wisdom of natural chaos

Hi doc, you can take your dead zinna flowers and they got seeds in them, you won't have to buy anymore. I just cut the dead flower and throwt them in a one gallon freezer bag and let them sit and next bring it to be ready to seed again.. I like how they will lean and then grow like a snake. I love the colors you get and you get them so many blooms for a long time. Very easy to grow.

Early spring....cheapest Zinnia seeds from Walmart plus dried Zinnia seeds from 2020 flowers. 2nd year growing zinnias around my mailbox. They are in full sun and watered most of the time by whatever rain we've gotten. This year up to the level of the mailbox. Last year 6ft tall and the mail lady stopped me one day and said she loved seeing the flowers each day on her route. Nice to bring cheer and joy in the crappy year of 2020. Zinnias as Doc said are a hardy plant for harsh, hot, full sun growing conditions.

I have heard that watering from the bottom helps to deter black spot on the leaves.. :) It has worked for me!

I've got so many Zinnias coming up, and there are just TONS more buds. They have so much longer to go, can't wait to see how they fill out come the end of September!

Florida here. Zone 9. My apartment gets the full sun only from around 1:30 pm until sun goes down. About 6 hours. I wonder if they will work here. My penta flowers did the best in the spot and are still blooming in Jan. 2022. It hasn't gotten cold enough for a freeze but it does freeze in this area. The soil is pretty compact. Gonna try these this year. Any suggestions?

This was the first year we planted zinnias in our back yard. We got four tiny zinnia plants that we put in a large pot and they have been thriving. They get full sun, although I do water them daily.

Do you do any trimming on them? seems like they'd get really tall for a pot.

I planted Zinnia seeds from lowes and never saw a zinnia, just weeds! Especially when I threw down wildflowers also, different spots, weeds in both. Two years later a couple wildflowers decided to pop up and lay down.

Can you elaborate on "bacterial fungus"? I've heard of bacteria and fungus, but not bacterial fungus. I always thought these were completely different with different "-ides" that treat the infections.

Burpee Forecast Zinnia is a disease resistant variety, but it much more expensive than common Zinnia.
