Great video! Going to try these tips and see if I can get times to improve Good tip below too about rpm settings I noticed about 10 knot improvement by adjusting pitch down a hair.
Adjusting joystick sensitivity will help keep things smooth. The extremity deadzone slider for the ailerons is handy, can cut out 50% of max deflection and still have plenty in reserve.
Love how the video in the background is mostly what not to do 😂 Good video though. I use to hold the #1 time trial in Jets and all of this is very true. Being smooth is the biggest key. Also, take the turns a little wider and you’ll find it’s easier to hit the pylon apex’s and keep speed high
Ok I'm gonna spill some beans here. Most think there is nothing you can do in a race to improve your speed. That is not entirely true. There is one key thing you can change which has a big effect of straight line speed. Engine RPM!! Most racers don't have this mapped and as a result don't have a hope against the top racers no matter how well they fly. Clearly one its own RPM wont make you win races unless you have mastered the optimal flying technique. I wont spoil by suggesting RPM settings. Go do time trials and try different settings. I used to wonder why some racers could beat me by 15 seconds or more. Not any more. By getting this right, I am now in the global top ten.
Around 3250 RPM is my magical number both to T-6 and P-51. I think some people are reducing weight, so far I couldn’t find a way to eject fuel. Any tips???
I personally haven't tried using the rudder during a race just because I feel like it is a bit too sensitive in the sim which makes it much harder for me to fly smoothly
@@JoeyPilotYT it's very plane related, i don't use it with the T6 anymore but still from time to time with the P51 to lower the nose during a tight turn
How do you fly at Reno steed airport with a with a different plane? I have the $60 package and so I have the races but I just want to go to that airport with another plane and practice my take offs and landings there but every time I type up Reno steed it brings me there void of any activity and there's no people or aircraft or grand stands or anything going on so what am I doing wrong?
but I noticed something that against your theory : when I give a sharp turn involving high attack angle, the speed meter does not show any drop. How come is that .
@@mmqmdxbz that might be because your bank angle is very high but you are not pulling back on the yoke that much, I do think most of the drag during turns is created by the fact that to make a very sharp turn you have to pull back on the yoke and that brings us back to the first point I made, try it out if you haven't already ;-) then again, the differences in race times are so minimal somethimes that even an unnoticable drop in speed will result in a longer time
For that of course you would have to fly quite low to the ground which I assume would increase the risk of crashing and flying into one of the pylons so not sure if that trade-off is worth it or not 😅
@@JoeyPilotYT Yes not for the faint of heart. Usually it's only done on the long strait sections, if you're kicking up dust then you know you are low enough :D
Hi, great content and great tips, but i'd like to offer a correction regarding your last tip, the one about finding the plane that works for you because all 40 airplanes are different. It is false. While the 40 planes are indeed different in time trials and free flight, during a race Asobo has said that all the planes of a given class share the exact same performance and flight model to avoid "pay to win" mechanics. So during the air races, you can use any plane in the class you are racing because they all behave the same. Thank you.
@@jaym7919 Its because they all fly pipsqueak in the time trial because it is faster there, and they do not switch. These guys are concentrating intensely and don't give a rip about changing planes.
Seal of approval from an aeronautical engineer and pilot! This is a great video, explaining counterintuitive concepts in very clear ways :)

How can i make my own RPM settinges?

Checking back again for the T6 race, so to keep the bubble centered, you just make smooth turns, you don't use rudder to counter during turns ?

Good tips. Very helpful. :)
hints on using these 4 aircraft in the main program the only one that I found flyable was the t3 what gives.
?? There isn't a t3...
I do have the same problem on Xbox.
The planes aren’t flyable outside The air race.
Thank you good info!

The stadium and all that will only be there during the activity. It won’t be in free flight

I'm not sure ground effect is modeled. The only advantage I've found of flying that low is that it helps prevent any unnecessary climbs.
THX!
