The only rod company I don’t mine paying full price for. Their service and warranty is by far the best in the industry! Don’t forget to register your rods so they know your a loyal customer.
I'll stick to my English rods we are far a head than you Americans like using toray carbon best carbon and its laid multi direction to stop the twisting of the rod in cast you Americans make me laugh see so many using massive multiplier reels for bank fishing for cat fish its so crude the way you fish
Depends on model. Legend is the legend. Chip Premier was losing competition, because it was rude old school (in bad way) rod. I don't know what about now, but in past St.Croix was starting from Avid. And I can't say, that Avid was a good option to buy for its price. No idea what now, because this brand lost popularity in Ukraine, but about 10-15 years ago it was lagging behind the trends (trends, that were making rods better, for example modern guides). Depends on style and philosophy of angler. American style is fast as possible fish transferring to hand, so rod is ruder and hardier. Japanese is more sensitive and finesse. However, hardy St.Croix usually breaks not rarely because owners are not careful with it (because "it is St.Croix, it's hardy" 😅). But Legend had great dynamic in work, good rod. Only one, that really made competition with Japanese.
He is such a cool guy I met him at Icast a few years ago and he’s a super nice guy who bleeds St. Croix. You can tell his enthusiasm for St Croix when you speak to him. What a great ambassador for a phenomenal rod company
You can see that man’s passion for his product which is what makes “Made in USA” so unique IMO. I own a Legend Ultra fly rod that I’ve had for over 25 yrs and it’s still the most smoothest casting rod I’ve ever used.
In 2018, I bought my first St Croix rod... now 6 years later I'm looking at 18 St Croix rods hanging in my basement... St Croix offers so many different rods for different techniques it's amazing. 6 of the 18 are Musky rods, the other 12 are 11 Bass rods and 1 Panfish rod. Between them all I have quite a few of the different series... Legend Tournament, Avid, Victory, Triumph, Premier, Mojo Bass, Mojo Musky, Mojo Glass, and Panfish. These rods so far have lived up to their slogan... "Best Rods on Earth"... I pulled in a 4lb Smallmouth on the panfish rod, it was bent over so far, I thought it was going to break. Then, I couldn't believe it when it held up to the task of pulling in a 28" catfish as well. It took a while to get that one in, it didn't want to come up off the bottom... Great rods indeed... Tight Lines!!
I absolutely love my Victory Rod. The only downside is at the moment I only have 1. I got my 1st one at the Bassmaster Open on Cherokee last year. I had came off the water as a co-angler after a tough day and was talking with a good friend of mine who had one in his hand. I said looks like you bought a rod and he said no to say thank you to veterans and service members they were giving a rod to them, so he walked me over to them and in one hand he handed me a rod and the other shook my hand and with a truly genuine smile said thank you. I used it the next week in a club tournament and fell in love with it. after that I slowly started to replace my rods with the mojo series and could not be happier. I know have 6 St Croix rods and hopefully soon will be able to replace my last 4 rods and have a complete line of the rods and actions I use most.
Very impressive! St. Croix has the best rods, love them. Thanks for sharing this as I never know the attention to detail that goes into building each rod. This is awesome.
All of my spinning rods are St.Croix. One of the things I’ve always loved about St.Croix in the spinning department is the variety of blanks. Take the 7’10” ML Victory Crosshair for example. None of the other high end manufacturers were offering a rod with those specs when it was introduced. They probably still don’t. I got so excited when I saw that and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. As soon as I unsheathed that rod and held it out and gave it a test shake, I fell head over heels in love w it. It does what it was meant to do perfectly, which is to throw light hair jigs a mile but it also excels in several other finesse bass fishing applications. I currently own two and I’ll be getting another. I’m certain that it’s been a resounding success as they have expanded these blank specs to several other lines. If you’re particular about your spinning rods and want to step away from the cookie cutter offerings by most every other manufacturer, look no further than St.Croix.
I have been there quite a few times it’s about 100 miles from where I live in Superior Wisconsin and a beautiful fun drive. The store there is nice and has a bigger selection then any retailer I have been to. But you can see from the outside this place is huge and I never got to see the rest of the inside before this video. Cool!
I’m an amateur and somewhat new bass fisherman, but purveyor of nice things. Just picked up a victory because I’m willing to pay for quality, passion, and craftsmanship whenever I can. You pay more because they have to pay the workers an American wage. Worth it to me, and super happy with my purchase :)
Got a few rods and had one warrantied (manufacture defect), it was pretty quick and painless. I even got to keep and fix my old one (fixed reel seat gluing heat defect). That alone made me like them. Rods are light and function nice.
@@zb5797 I just sanded the old glue a bit so it could go in place then added light touch of liquid CA glue to hold it in place, lined up straight with the guides. Then held it vertical and dripped more glue in the crack in-between till the top was filled and did the same to the bottom vertically. It shouldn't break loose. Hard part is not getting super glue everywhere on the outside.

I love the brand so much and always thought of owning a St. Croix casting and spinning rod all the time. Unfortunately the specs that I've always wanted aren't there or don't fit my requirement, a 2-piece / center joint / 6 foot 6 to 6 foot 10 in length. The reason is, simply because I'm always riding my motorcycle with my backpack with all the stuff behind my back whenever I go fishing. Imagine how crazy would it be, carrying a 1-piece rod behind your back..
My two favorite rods are both St Croix...a 6'4" Avid Panfish and a 7'1" Legend Tournament Bass, however with all their attention to detail I still can't get over the fact that they misspelled "Versatile" on the LTB rod, every time I see "Versitle" printed on the rod I get a good chuckle.
I've really never had the money that this rods cost! But I've bought older two piece spinning St. Croix rods that had metal furrels I think It was eglass? But I rebuilt it into a baitcasting rod adding a two footed eyes to stiffen it up and its now the best spoon rod I own, it can throw a 3/4 oz spoon but I can still throw an 1/8 oz johnson silver minnow on 12 lb line and because it was a old buggy whip spinning rod and with the extra eyes and double wrapped the footings that rod will still throw a light spoon a country mile because the blank loads up so easily it just flings the lighter baits unlike a faster blanks! It just shows the quality of St. Croix rods over 40+ years old that was converted from a spinning rod to baitcasting rod! That's quality!
Was just gifted a 7’1” Legend Xtreme Medium Heavy Extra Fast baitcasting rod. What’s a good balanced baitcaster reel to pair with it for my only reel/rod combo? Maybe a Daiwa Zillion 21 SV TW G?
i’ve had a st croix for year s last year i didn’t fish much and left it on the bed of my truck and there’s crap all on top of it and all that crap no tellin what all was on it and i didn’t lose a rod tip paint nothing these things are the real deal. i have a ducket heavy rod and it lost like 3 or 4 rod tips in the bed but the medium st croix did not and even if it did break or does break they have the best warranty just tell em hey i broke my rod and boom another one’s st your door. mine is a bass x medium 7’1 fast. love it bought it for moving baits but i even throw soft plastics and everything on it because this matched with my shimano is just my favorite combo i can’t seem to put it down.
The problem that I had with St Croix rods in the past is that the handle lengths were always too short. Picked up a Victory last season and still find that to be an issue. Very awkward feeling rods.
most of my rods are St Croix, but the only one i have that issue with is my 7’ medium Avid X. i’ll definitely agree there. it’s extremely awkward to cast.
@Kivas_Fajo what are you on about its not the 60s no more the duplon handles are one of the best it's Cork handles that are crap now days cheap Cork from China is the worst best has to be Japanese shrink wrap handles
WOW.. That guy must have been from the Marketing Dept. He was really trying to up-sale a lot of the BASIC processes that are just common from all manufacturing of rods, even the crappy ones from China.
Well done to you guys for keeping manufacturing local. Id love to setup in australia but the cost to setup and marketing, it would be impossible to compete with the asian made rods. Also the fact that no carbon is made in australia, all must be imported.
Just fly over and take it home. I would like to take these rods back to Laos/Thailand for snakehead fishing. How can I take it on the flight or ship it?

Here in the uk our rods are far far a head of your a 40 quid rod had multi direction carbon so its laid 45 degrees from each layer to stop twist this guy calls it graphite its carbon big difference
All this sounds good and well, yet I continue to see fit and finish flaws in many Croix rods. I like my Croix's, don't get me wrong. But they're nowhere close to being the "Best Rods On Earth".
That’s why I only buy after I have picked the rod up a inspected it myself. In a local store or make the drive to Park Falls about a 100 mile drive for me it’s a beautiful ride from where I live on Lake Superior.
