    Okay honestly, why would you even put a bride in a gown about twice her budget? Why would you have the budget at all? Like, you had the girl fall in love with this beautiful dress, encouraging her, etc, and now she's gonna be broken-hearted that she can't get it. Good job.

      I see your point, and agree with the fact that they shouldn’t point at dresses or bring over the budget dresses to the dressing room. But I mean if a client specifially says she wants to try on a dress it has seen, then I feel like it would be rude for the seller to just say no.

    The fact that she has two Kids and resides with her boyfriend the marriage is just a formality and level of security. I don’t think she is crazy, I think they have committed to being with each other and are both comfortable. Hence no big ring etc they probably have other priorities.

    Usually I’m upset when they put girls in dresses over budget. BUT this time the bride saw it, they told her, and she still said she wanted to try it on. I appreciate how they were upfront and still figured out how to get it to her budget later

    A formal proposal doesn't always happen. They are living their lives together, have two beautiful children together - some things go unsaid. And, perhaps a ring is not where they wish to spend their money. Best wishes to them!

      Shows/stores like this cater to the conventional trappings of marriage, so I'm not surprised by all their quips. But I hate that they framed it in that "this girl is crazy" way, when she's just happy living her life with a common-law hubby, by the looks of things!

Me and my partner have talked about wanting to get engaged, once we're financially stable and hopefully living together. I care more about personal touch than price tag any day. When hopefully someday I see a ring, I'll want something that matters to me over a pointless, huge, heavy ring that'd probably be too impractical to wear.

      Same here! I bought my dress and booked the venue five months before he proposed but we had already been planning the wedding since January (7 months before he proposed). We were completely fine with doing things out of order but so many people were upset that I didn’t have a ring on my finger. 🙄 We had been together for 11 years by the time we started planning for the wedding so we didn’t care what people thought; we were both fine with planning before the proposal.

      @@pambrown6260 Actually, my comment is meant to be for general marriage, not just this video. Having an "ideal dress" is great. That, however, entails some financial consequences, i.e, working smart and hard for the money, having a budget, sticking to the budget, etc. Wedding dress shopping is essentially more emotional shopping rather than logical shopping. You buy a single garment just for one occasion with quite expensive price. That involves more emotions than logic.

    People who have never heard of someone planning their wedding before the actual engagement have definitely never been to Utah. People do it ALL the time here. It's definitely not the way I would do things, but it happens regularly here.

    Why did it need the blush ribbon belt when it seemed to have it's own belt/bling? To hide a zipper or something that the overskirt attached to? The dresses all fit her beautifully ~ In the end out of "big, puffy & sparkly" she only got sparkly...But she glowed !

What displeases me is that the consultant let her try on a dress that was double her budget. Thank God that they were able to make it work without the over-skirt..

    Don't you secretly wonder if the dress designers aren't rolling their eyes behind a girls back knowing that what she is really doing is wasting their time and energy playing pretend bride?For all this girl knows, she is planning all this behind her bf's back and he is trying to figure out how to break up with her, you know?     Their wedding is in 2 months so yes they are engaged... Having a proposal and a diamond ring is not what being engaged is, it's making a commitment to be married. We've made marriage and weddings into some weird show in 21st century western society, instead of a commitment to the person you love that it should be.

    I don’t think Talina was listening the first time the consultant said it was “considerably more than her budget” because her face dropped when she told her entourage the the same thing, that or she was putting it on for them, because she was already told it was over budget and she still put it on.

    I literally thought that she was dating someone and looking for a dress just for fun, but she lives with the guy and has 2 kids with him and is planning the wedding with him... the proposal is redundant in her case.

    I just dont understand why her friends kept pushing her to buy the dress she couldnt afford. No way. I would have told her to forget it. She's beautiful and anything would look great on her. That's just my opinion though.

    My friend had been living with her boyfriend for 10 years --- she was seriously upset one day and he gave her a blank cheque and told her to go out and buy herself a new dress to cheer her up . She came home with a wedding dress --- and they got married. Sometimes you have to give these guys a real kick up the ass.

    Personally didn’t like the over skirt anyway. It was pretty but it looked like it didn’t match well! Maybe that was the intention of the design but I just think it looked strange that the styles were so far off.

    I’m a bridal stylist and I would never put my bride in a gown above her budget without her knowledge . It is straight up “ghetto “ and tacky . That’s like someone saying they can only afford a Toyota and you show them a Benz . It creates uncomfortable and anxious silences. Never will
    Understand why people do this to brides.

    I also bought my dress before being proposed to! I think for this woman, the proposal is just a formality. Rings are expensive! There is no way she would secretly get that all arranged without the man she lives with and has kids with knowing about it. I bought my dress before engagement because I knew he was going to propose soon (we had picked out the rings) and I saw a clearance dress at a shop passing by it that I couldn’t get out of my head.
