I could listen to Harry’s gambling stories over and over, what a guy.
sounds like he has spent his life poncing off others to give him money....wins a bit.....loses it all.... Then poncing off others and the cycle continues.
Make any snide observations you like but I suggest Down was one of the FINEST proponents of the English language I have ever read , Absolutely amazing talent the likes of which you will really ever observe,

Hahaha... I was at [grammar] School with Harry and whilst he doesn't mention it, he famously would bunk off in his camel coat to go betting on the dogs. I guess we 14 or 15 at the time and don't think he ever got detention for it! And when he was about to be caned, turned around and caught the cane before it hit him then faced up nose-to-nose with the teacher. He was then, and clearly is now, a brilliant brilliant character!

Its clear these type of interviews isnt Alastairs forte lets just say. I sense Alaister really doesnt know or care that much about the betting side of things, hes more intoxicated with the whole racing vibe as a whole and is more about people and feelings etc. Nevertheless a couple of good nuggets from Harry.
Would have been better if Alastair Down would stop trying to be funny.

Great geezer Harry but got to lose some weight Harry no joke mate the heart is the engine and your as old as me we don’t live forever Harry but let’s make sure we will hopefully as long as we can mate it’s the heaviest I’ve seen ya it’s ok when your younger but please be careful your one of the greatest characters in the game keep it going but believe me you like your beer and your grub don’t let it soon takes it toll we all think we’re invincible with heath how wrong we are sadly take care H
Some punters are amusingly irrational. I remember one macho guy from the Winchcombe Street Ladbrokes in Cheltenham town centre,from my youth, used to love literally any favourite with a butch name - like War Commander, for instance. He would put his usual fiver on such beasts for the ego puffing joy of aggressively shouting out "G'wan, (whatever the name) my son, gettin gettin" with a trademark fist pump and march of triumph to the payout counter." One day, to the amusement of the regulars, I took great delight in doing an impression of him, cheering home a good thing called Mr Fluffy.

@@csb7376 Different league in what sense? I'm an American gambler & love Harry yet know very little about TR.
@@nickpappas5399 Ramsden played the Japanes markets and was operating on a totally different level financially to anything Findlay could even imagine. At one time he owned over a hundred horses and put a £500,000 bet on the Grand National, in the days when the fences were merciless.
The stock market crashed eventually, but he also blew well over £50 million on track betting in the 80's. Allowing for inflation that is insane really. Don't get me wrong, Findlay is/was a massive punter compared to the man in the street. But Ramsden and Findlay is like Alan Sugar and Del Boy.

Alistair Down, expert at talking over people, always done it. Tough game gambling, takes it toll, Harry's only 39 lol, he's been to the top and very bottom of gambling emotions.

There was a big low last week when energamin dropped tamely away ,so us who backed dashel drasher were going to collect as usual on occasions ,game went bent with a complete no hoper somehow after being led over the last ,stayed on and won at 16 to 1 ,if it wasn't enough getting energermine beat and the millions that brought bookies ,nah not enough they had to have all the money off drasher too greedy twts .
Huge fan of both interviewer and interviewee, but this isn’t a great interview. Poorly edited too, jumped from talking about racing in Ireland to Rugby with a clear break in what had actually been talked about.
How come Harry findlay is allowed too gamble millions and yet no bookmakers ask him for source of funds proof just not fair why is he different all us poor punters get pulled on source of funds after just a few hundred yet he is allowed too gamble millions and they ask nothing from him he obviously does not have any employment so questions over his source of funds he would have trouble answering just like rest of us which have our accounts closed yet he is allowed top carry on so unfair

I bought Harry Findlay's book and I thought it was one long borefest . I love his enthusiasm for punting but he is a blowhard . Like Terry Ramsden before him , he didn't know how to control his compunction to bet with no care attached .
