Huseni is a very interesting ragam. Captures the mood of Mukhari and Bhairavi to some extent and adds a folkish spin to it. Another popular example is Arunachala Kavi's "eppadi manam thunindhadho...". Such a beautiful presentation by our master.

Arumai sir.. reminded of listening to ooothukadu Swamy's "aadum varai avar aadatum" set to same ragam sung and popularised by one great musical genius Sri. maharjapuram Santhanam. Could feel the same gaambeeryam in sanjay sir's renditions too

This Huseni composition instantly reminds 'kanakamayamAyiDum kamala vAhanam' & "Pahimam Brihanayike" , both the Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Compositions.....Huseni...It is a janya raga, derived from Kharaharapriya which is 22nd on the Melakarta scale. Being a very phrase oriented and close to major ragas make elaborations in this is difficult . Apat from the bove said Swathi krities, oher popular compositions are ..Thyagarajaswamy's 'Emani Vegintune',' Raghuvira Ranadhira' and 'Rama Ninne Nammi' and Arunachala Kavi’s 'Eppadi Manam Thunindado'& Muthuswami Dikshithar’s 'Shri Kalahistisha'n most often heard in concerts.
The situation in this composition is so exclusive..the young maiden is waiting for her beloved lord Murugan to visit her. Since he doesn’t show up, she imagines all sorts of unpleasant incidents! Here Sanjay did sing very melodiously though he lyrics is full of lamenting by her for falling in love! ( sung Charanam 1; skipped 2)
