  • Cab ride on U15C 918 and 919 from Tayuman locomotive shed, to Tutuban station, then on to Caloocan Workshops in Manila.
At the time, trains on this section were quite rare and limited to transfers to the large workshops at Caloocan. All the sights and sounds of these beautiful General Electric locomotives, along with one scary near miss.
Back in 2010, and 2011, David Xuereb traveled to the Philippines with my good self. In between the usual duties expected of us, we presented our parts lineside as much as possible.
Mr Xuereb has generously allowed us to show all his video footage from these two trips. The series will take in the Philippine National Railways, LRT1 and MRT3, all of which we were given special permission to visit and photograph.
This first episode is a ride in the cab of the PNR's oldest locomotive, General Electric built U15C 902. The late afternoon Binan service used old second-hand passenger stock from Japan.
After the ride, there is a selection of still photos taken along the way
Crank your speakers, as this is a true soundfest.
Thanks to David Xuereb for allowing us to share your video with the world.

I love trains, I've taken the PNR up north to Tarlac in the 1960s, down south to Ligao , as a kid I would estambay at the Sta Mesa Station reading the stops chalked on a board all the way to Legaspi. I've since rode a few famous trains, Shanghai to Beijing, Moscow to St Persburg, Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou to Kowloon , Los Angeles to Hollywood

Cool video, nice to see the old line before the construction of the connector road. It excites me more to see the line revived till LA Union as is, than what is currently being constructed as the NSCR. But changes are also welcome.

It is amazing to see the changes since q1999.
During our 2004 visit it was thought the heavy rail system would soon be gone.
Now there is a huge amount of rail development going on.
The coming years will sure be interesting.

@@maxredman5628 you may know my late friend Eduard Labadia from Passi City.
He grew up around the railway at Passi City. His family still have a house along the old right of way in Passi.
We visited the area with him a couple of years ago.
He had a Facebook group covering the past and future of the line. I look after it now he has passed.

My god that man crosses the railway without noticing that there's a train behind him he might die on that occasion but i don't know how he couldn't hear the train's horn i think he might be deaf or he just doesn't care but these video could spread awareness about safety on railways especially here in the Philippines where our railway tracks is just beside the bahay.

      He was so incredibly lucky.

    • @NeathSpadge
      @NeathSpadge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Hard to really say what the reason was.
Good chance he was deaf. However, he did seem to respond to calls eventually.
Lots of noise around, with very few trains on that section. He may have just thought it background noise from trains on the south leg of the triangle there.
Many people get into their own world nowadays and don't concentrate on the world around them :-(
Thankfully he was able to jump quickly.

Wasn't aware of the airport part.
But I believe the south long haul project is to eventually get to Legaspi/Sorsogon.
Have had no update on the narrow gauge line beyond Ligao which just reopened.
