    Very good video.
    I just did a first pass on my 1992 Amana, but I need to do a second run with tools you show.
    There were all manner of disgusting things in the guts of my fridge.
    Even COVID-19 wouldn't hang out down there!

    🤣😆😂It’s funny how wiping down the fridge leads me to cleaning out the fridge leads me to pulling out the fridge to clean behind it leads me to cleaning under the fridge. I’m having too much excitement on a Friday night. 🤪🤣😂🤣

    👍Awesome. Thank you. 💞 I had the idea of using my vacuum cleaner attachment & to do exactly as demonstrated but wanted to get on YT & the internet first to make sure it was okay to do it that way because I don’t want to break anything or electrocute myself. I appreciate you taking the tine to film & post this video. 🤗💞🤗

    • @funbro1

      Whatever fit under there to loosen things up will work. Just be careful not to damage any coils in the process. Thanks for the question.

  • @patpatpat999
    @patpatpat999 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The funny thing about these is that the more covered the coils, the more your food may freeze in the fridge. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but this is a think with all refridgeration systems.

    I have a 12 yr old kitchen aid that has rows of coils horizontal. The tray has insulation in it. No attachment gets that far back. I've tried the spray but, I'm afraid that after it drips onto the insulation, it may get moldy. Everything is the same with as this whirlpool model except the darn coils. I will make sure to check on the next one we purchase. We do have a cat so, I do have to clean the coils regularly. Any suggestions you offer will be greatly appreciated.

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried using compressed air to blow some of the dust/hair out? You definitely don't want to force anything hard into the coil area.

  • @funbro1
    @funbro1  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't see why not buy be careful not to damage anything or cause a leak. The brush I used in this video was a nylon bristle brush.

    After I unplug the refrigerator, and take everything out, would it be a problem if I laid the frig. on it's back and cleaned it this way?
    Awesome video. Thanks so much.

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      IF you decide to lay the refrigerator on it's back you will need to leave it off for awhile once it is back upright. Refrigerators are not meant to be laid down because doing so drains the compressor If it is turned on when up righted the compressor will not have the proper coolant/oil to operate and your risk ruining the compressor. In short I do not recommend it. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

    Remove access panels and roll the fridge to the front door.
    Stuff pillows on the top of the fridge to seal up the fridge into the door frame.
    THEN, from INSIDE the house, I use my biggest leaf blower to blow the
    dust OUTSIDE.
    If you live in an apartment, give a try. You'll finally met your happy neighbors.
    You're welcome.

    How do I clean the coils if the dirt build up is not loose (the dirt is embedded on the coil). Thank you.

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on what it is. First it is important to determine what is on the coils, if it is grease then a mild de-greaser should do the trick. Your best bet is to start with a mild detergent and spray it on the coils and use an air compressor to blow the dirt off of them. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching

      funbro1 I've cleaned the coils, the refrigerator and freezer are extremely cold and the collection of water at the bottom of the freezer (interior) has seized. The only problem at this point is the freezer is not freezing. Any suggestions. Please note my refrigerator is extremely old. Thank you for your time and assistance.

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you may need to turn it off and defrost the unit...maybe use a hair dryer. then clean any drain in the bottom of the refrigerator that would cause it to accumulate in the freezer. Hope this helps.

    That little plastic tabs and the top. The bottom has a little pinch spring type setup that snap in the top break off so very easily if there are jerk the wrong way or best weights how to forcefully on my refrigerator I have no more than like 2 to 3 in of Clarence and underneath I only have a half inch in between them is rest of the quarter inch refrigerator is 45 years old well-made whirlpool except for the sensor when that cost me a good chunk

    Every web site has you using a brush or vacuum extension to clean the coils. The simplest way is to use an air blower of some sort to loosen the dust. Used with a vacuum cleaner at the same time gets most of the dust. Some will blow out the back so be prepared to pull out the refrigerator and vacuum. I use a portable air compressor to blow on the coils. You might also try hair dryer or if desperate, a leaf blower. Put the brush manufacturers and lame vacuum extensions out of business. You heard it here first on 1/15/2020. Its too bad the refrigerator manufacturers made such a poor design that is hard to clean.

    • @funbro1
      @funbro1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Been doing that for years and years, the problem is the whole kitchen becomes covered with whatever was under the refrigerator. Better way is to use the vacuum first to get the bulk of the dust off then for the harder to reach places use the compressed air. You will find that by doing it this way the mess that is made is FAR less than just going with compressed air, hair dryer, or leaf blower. You heard it and watched it here first. Over and out. Thanks for watching.

    I bet you that's one of the number one ways that air refrigerator is going to burn out on you fast if you don't get in there and cleaned it at least once a month or at least once every four or five months is way too long.
