Holdovers reminded me of 'Everything Everywhere All at Once.' It made me laugh, cry, and even laugh-cry simultaneously. By the end of the movie, I was so filled with love and courage that I felt compelled to call my best American friends who supported me during holidays when I was a Chinese holdover during my PhD years. This is the power of cinema at its finest!

The holdovers was my favorite film of 2023 over Barbie, Oppenheimer, it was just so personally effecting to me. It was a simple story that’s been told lots of times but it moved me and I loved it and I loved the characters. It will become a classic Christmas movie in years to come.
