All thanks and goodwill to whoever was cool enough to record this stuff for us. For those of us not born until after this, we thank you for making it possible to listen to fabulous stuff like this we otherwise would have missed. Many Thanks, hope we can thank you in person some day.
awww... sweet. I am trying to do some writing about my life in the 1970s, and tired of the War against Boomers on Facebook... and it;s nice to hear that music brings the generations together instead of driving us apart.
Wow...Jerry getting all thick and muddy on Fire transition and Bobby is just razor sharp playing over the top high with piercing slashes. Whole band is weighing in on this one. Great quality tape and thanks for sharing!
Incredible sound! I would say this was the peak of greatness. Through it all they stuck together, and played some of the greatest rock n roll the world has ever heard! God, I consider myself so lucky to watch the continuous progression of music and the change in all the D-Heads
I think this is the best quality version of Scarlet-Fire out there. Beautiful. The guitar work is top notch and Jerry sounds healthy. And the visuals are utterly fantastic. Some of the best psychedelic art I've ever seen! Thanks Nutty Riv3r or whoever put it together. D. A. , NYC, NY, USA
I won't say it isn't but I can't say it is. Though I've long loved this one. I can say Scarlet>Fire is one of their best creations that was made new so many times. One of my least favorite ones is the final one in 95. They never even finished it
Thanx jerry for creating such great music.u were a legend.ur music still lives on brother..and whomever created these trippy graphics,wow..if i was trippin this would blow my mind..lol .reeal cool.
I've always thought this show blows Cornell out of the water.. We've used it for a couple of dances and this Fire at arena-levels of sound is AMAZING. it does something to your spirit...
Agreed this is one of, if not my favorite show. The music never stopped from this show is absolutely amazing as well. Really dig a good 78 show. Cornell Is overrated and may not of even happened lol. Read up on the conspiracy theory if you havn't yet. Glad to find someone that feels this way about this show vs cornell as I do though
Perhaps my favorite version of Scarlet->Fire. The jam between the two songs is great, the band in top form, lots of spontaneous peaks occurring. Incredible final guitar solo on Fire (near the end of the song).Jerry before the heroin was incredible, a force of nature! RIP Jerry Garcia.
I'll take the 5/13/77, Chicago Auditorium, Scarlet-Fire over the 5/8/77 Scarlet-Fire any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Way more energy, way tighter. The way Phil leads the transition between the two tunes is so powerful and unique.
great version and energy but for those comparing this to cornell is a bit of stretch. Cornell is otherwordly imo. The sound, the groove and jerrys solos are on another level. IMO!
Cornell is a great show but just gets its dick rode soo hard I can't dig it as much as other unknown gems anymore. Anyone that knows barely anything about the band can try to sound knowledgeable throwing out the cornell as a favorite show, This show is top 2 shows for me. The music never stopped as well is amazing. Love jerry on FOTM "LET IT BURN" 78 had a lot of great shows. Close encounters etc Cornell is just the go to for those that want to sound knowledgeable plus as many have speculated it never really took place. Read the theories lol

My favorite scarlet fire since the first time I heard it. Absolute scorcher.
I thought I was one of a select few clued in to this show. It's so wonderful to know I'm not alone.
Check out this whole show on archive, especially The music never stopped, SMOKIN'!!!!!
I love how Phil is leading the others into Fire and Jerry is bouncing off the walls. Awesome!!
Yes, I like the way Phil is persistently sticking to the correct rhythm while Jerry jumps ahead, until Jerry finally gets it right.
@@456subway A Wizard is never late, Jerry arrives exactly when he was meant to. ok, a shaman with guitar.
This is truly a top 5 version.
Incredible sound! I would say this was the peak of greatness. Through it all they stuck together, and played some of the greatest rock n roll the world has ever heard! God, I consider myself so lucky to watch the continuous progression of music and the change in all the D-Heads
This Scarlet > Fire is more fun than a frog in a glass of milk!
What are you saying by putting all these words together?
@@bluesque9687 He's repeating a Bob Weir joke.

Has to be one of the best versions👍👍 .. 2:55-4:55 chills...
Way to go, Bob
Hands down, this is the best Scarlet/fire out there
Hands f'ing down. Agreed. Anytime I hear a great one, I go back to this and nothing can top it.
yonijony the one from 5-17-77 is a good contender
I was mad skeptical until I heard the slide guitar slide in there....pretty good man.

Love this version.
Thanks for the Share!
This video needs to be turned into a VR video so we could watch with our VR glasses while listening.
this is one killer fire
Check the music never stopped from this show as well this whole show is FIRE!!! Horton field house>Cornell I said It
What a ride, sensational graphics!!!
I love you Bob!
Thanx jerry for creating such great music.u were a legend.ur music still lives on brother..and whomever created these trippy graphics,wow..if i was trippin this would blow my mind..lol
.reeal cool.
certainly one of the best fires of all time. "let it burn, let burn, let it burn"
AGREED and love the jerry vocal additions
Great story thanks for sharing
'78 Scarlets are killer!
Outstanding

fuck cornell :)
Yeah, feel the same. Don't think I've ever heard a better Fire.
It's the greatest Scarlet I've ever heard. For sure.
agreed, The Cornell versions is, to my ear, tight, but not inspired.
West Virginia show same month as well
4-16-78 is also a killer version!!
This is amazing
well played
right
This is a great version.
Had this cassette since 1985. Top shelf scarlet fire. Crazy space jam also. Check it out!
I love the recording on this one. It is heavy as fuck.
Epic
rhanks for sharin'

There best.
Bobby's slide work isn't half bad on this!
Best Scarlett > Fire I've heard so far
That Guy There check out the 5/17/77 version
I`ve always thought it would be Janis voice singing with Jerry,... My mistake. It would be nice though.
This whole show is fire...almost my favorite first set oeriod...only if jerry could have played candyman or loserinstead of that one selection.

Also check out 11/1/79, one of the earlier ones with Brent. Easily my favorite transition and extended scarlet jam
It's getting better and better and better.. hahahaha ahahahah a
Transcendent
I like milkful glasses of frog
great version and energy but for those comparing this to cornell is a bit of stretch. Cornell is otherwordly imo. The sound, the groove and jerrys solos are on another level. IMO!
The mountainous lily contrastingly drag because surgeon currently shop aboard a heavenly heavy hellish reduction. unkempt, vagabond path
It's good but Cornell is the Holy Grail. So let it be written so let it be done.

@@brendans8141 Cornell "never really took place"...? BS, laughable comment. A buddy of mine was there, as were many deadheads.
