      Why is it better than using a pan?

    • @mantleofelijah
      @mantleofelijah 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@markshirley01 because it’s easy and produces light fluffy rice every time. With a pan sometimes it would be a bit stodgy. Plus you have to watch the pan doesn’t boil over, set a timer etc, rinse the rice. Stick with a pan if you want. This has meant easier and nicer rice for my family and consistently the same every time which I like. I’ve made rice in a pan for 20 years but after using this once I was a convert.
      The rice is never burnt, never stodgy. Light and fluffy every time. Plus The hob doesn’t need cleaning.

    Thanks, I was only curious whether the strainer stays in after washing the rice or not. 😂 The rest goes pretty intuitive. Btw. for those asking for measurements, as a rule if thumb, always go for 1 part rice with 1,5 - 2 parts water :)

  • @susanstreet9544

    Remember it should be on med microwave setting.
    Those asking about measurements they are on the instruction leaflet and vary depending on the type of rice

      They come with a chart for diff types of rice and cooking times my suggestion maybe your microwave isn’t very powerful I would be using the same volume if water and rice just try increasing microwave time by 1 min see if it works if not add an extra minute on that . I’ve had great results with mine without much playing around

    what's the power level to cook the rice

    • @aussiespoon7554
      @aussiespoon7554  ปีที่แล้ว

      The rice cooker comes with a chart that gives time and power for different amounts and types of rice. so far it’s been pretty accurate and overall it’s better than using a pot and cheaper than an electric rice cooker.

    In cooking rice, be aware that if you accidentally enter the incorrect microwave settings, using these plastic rice cooking containers, that this could happen, as it did for me: I would start by putting the correct amount of rice and water into the plastic microwavable container w/ lid. Then, I would set the 1250 Watt microwave settings for 5 minutes at full power, then 30 minutes at power level 3. That worked great for the many times I have cooked rice in this microwave...until I mistakenly entered 30 minutes at power level 10. It did a melt down of the plastic container and burned the rice to a black charcoal state. It stank up the house and I have been trying to get rid of the odor for many days now. I'm lucky it didn't set the house on fire!! I disassembled the microwave oven..took off the covers top, sides, and bottom and cleaned all of the nasty brown soot off everything...inside and out. It still stank so I kept spraying the inside and around the microwave with ZEP smoke odor eliminator. And I opened the microwave door and hung a large box fan to blow into the microwave. It seemed to help but the odor is still there after days of doing this. I even took the microwave outside and put a glass bowl with water and about 5 cut up Meyer lemons into the water and nuked them for about 15 minutes. That seemed to help a lot but still has a diminished smoky odor. I also sprayed the microwave cabinet with the spray. The odor got into the wood. I reinstalled the microwave into the cabinet and after several days, the odor got worse again but not as bad as before. I again repeated the bowl of water and lemons in the microwave still in the cabinet this time. It does make the odor much less than before but I'm afraid I will have to repeat this for several days before the smoky odor is gone! I will never use a plastic microwave rice cooker, or any plastic container in the microwave again. And, be especially careful on setting the cooking time and power!

      You always cook rice with 2x the amount of water, so it really doesn't matter, but it's a cup if that helps
