Over the ear, Had the Beats Solo 2 wired headphones some yrs back and I gotta say my ears feel much butter w an over the ear fit. I know folks will clown me but I use Raycon everday headphones, they are over the ear style. I actually bought them in a pinch before vacation in 2022 when my Solo 2s started showing more signs of wear and tear on the cushions.
0:23 the Beats Solo2 wireless did not have Apple W1 chip inside those headphones came out before Apple even announced the W1 chip the first pair of beats to use the W1 chip the Solo3 and the second beats product to use the W1 chip what’s the studio3 headphones. I know that because I am a beat by Dr. Dre collector. So I guess you kinda got a fact wrong. Because the Apple W1 chip what is released alongside the iPhone 7 with the first GEN AirPods and the beats Solo3 headphones all released in the same year 2016
On-ears shouldn’t be a thing. On-ears aren’t comfortable or save too much space in your backpack compared to over-ears. It is all compromise and no benefits between over-ears and iems/true wireless.
I don’t think it’s as simple as what people are saying though. Yes if you just want the better headphone all around then get the Studio Pros on sale but if you are like me and prefer a wired connection and hate charging things. The Solo 4 is actually the better option. It doesn’t require power to use them as long as the AUX is connected. The Studio Pros require battery even while using the AUX.
I just picked these up at Costco for $129 including AppleCare for my 12 year old as a gift for a report card with straight A’s. I didn’t want ANC as she doesn’t need another excuse not to hear her us calling her 🙄. Excellent video as usual!
I’ve been an AirPods Max user for a couple years and love them, but when I found the Beats Studio Pro on sale for less than $200, I jumped on it, liked them way more than I expected… and then I sold them. Then a funny thing happened… I missed them! So, of course, I bought them again (again under $200). I love the case. I love that they don’t look pretentious. They have great sound and good ANC. I still use my APM around the house, but my BSP travel with me!
You predicted right. I just ordered these last night and now I’m watching your video to justify my purchase lol. I got mine for $120 though. Great deal.
I just got the Beats Studio pro in white on sale at Best Buy for 200 so if you can get the studios I would go that route better. They are more comfortable, have noise canceling and transparency mode so it’s a no brainer to me, but I’m really loving that blue color on the solos I wish they had that color on the studios.
@@harrybradford11i feel like the sound quality is very close. Plus, Beats are better with battery life, and lighter on your head which is nice for long sessions.
I have both the studio pro and the solo 4 and in the same colors you have them to, the Studio I use them at home and at work since they have ANC . The Solo’s they are my pick up and go headphones
I did get the beat studio pro recently, but I returned them simply because I do not think they were worth the money and also I like to be able to alter EQ settings which it didn't really allow. I returned them in the end for the Sony XM5. Although Beats studio pro cannot be beaten on style in my opinion and battery life was great also but I just thought price point was a tad high.
You sold me on the Beats Studio Pro last year, and I still use them every day. I don't need the Solo because I have dipped my toes into the wired market. Great video! I know these are going to sell extremely well! Oh and P.S. I absolutely love my Beats Studio Pro!
I have Solo 3, and they are still pretty good; but I don't think Apple, Sony, or Bose can match the quality, price, and performance of my new Skullcandy Crusher Evo. The music literally gets into my bones.
I got the Studio Pros and the Solo 3s and one big thing for me is the creakiness. The Solos are super quiet while the Studios feel pretty cheap in that regard. So every activity that involves movement is a No-Go with the Studios. Also while ANC is a great thing without a doubt, I feel like the Solos don’t make that much of a difference when it comes to blocking noises as they sit much tighter on your ears.
I can't believe that just as most people do, you missed the iconic Solo PROs (they were the last in line, released in 2019) - I still have a pair in a box I could find sealed on eBay - one of the most incredible headphones I have ever had, and hard to change tbh.
I paid $50 for my bass headphones on Amazon and they pair with everything, plus holds a 80 hr charge. Apple just gave me a $300 gift certificate and found bollox for anything decent unless I pay more. Glad you made this video to save me $200
Interesting new model of Beats Solo 4 I wonder if they are good enough to use with Apple Box TV? I was considering the Sennheiser Acentum to use in Apple Box TV the price is practically the same.
Hmmm hoping for a refreshed Beats Solo Pro... But looks like the cans from 5 years back is still superior with the build and active noise cancellation.
Just gonna reply to this and say that if you’re someone who is walking a lot then anc is not something to really consider as wind noise is a huge issue. Bus, trains etc you will see more of a benefit from anc it depends on your needs
I’m looking for something to work with that will serve as the occasional airplane headphone. I mostly need to hear little notification chirps while working on my computer and do the occasional recorded call. I have my call go through my iphone though for the voice isolation feature. I have been getting frustrated with the blue tooth getting confused about connecting to my phone on my jabra. I’m hoping that the solo will be enough for my work productivity. I would consider the pro if it had more side buttons but sound quality just isn’t the most important thing to me for my purposes. I just need it good enough.
These say they support audio sharing and the Beats Studio Pro didn’t support that. I think they said at the time it was because of the Beats silicon, since these also have beats silicon and support the audio sharing has beats said whether they will be bringing that to the Studio Pros?
I hate to be that guy, but some corrections: Solo 2 wireless came out in 2014 Solo 3 wireless (W1 Chip) came out in 2016. The solo 2's did not have a W1 chip.
I need the bottom end of the earlier beats headphone which is missing from these newer versions. I have beats original solo by dr. dre, solo 2 & 3 and the original studios as well as the not so good sounding studio 3. Apple has equed the low end out of all the new versions which lacks balance in the music. Too much high end doesn't work for me. One of my beats (studio 3) I got new at around $100 dollars. The rest I got used for under $30 dollars each.
As someone who prefers a wired connection it sucks that Beats made the Solo 4 able to be used without a charge while using the 3.5mm AUX. But the Studio Pros don’t allow you to use them wired without a charge. I have the Studio Pros and I’m considering returning them and getting Solo 4s just for that fact alone. I tell everyone if you don’t care about a wired connection and will be using them mainly on Bluetooth, then the Studio Pros are better for you. If you prefer a wired connection Solo 4s are the better option.
Beats studio wireless (2013) are the best beats ever! Can't believe the studio pros sound as flat as they do or do they go as loud as the 2013 model...
I was looking for an alternative to my AirPods due to the piercings in my ears! I was actually watching this video while wearing them! They still tune the kids out, I was able to answer the phone just fine! And I got them on sale from Best Buy for $149🎉 I’m more than pleased with my purchase! Next to try them out in the gym!
I can use my marshall major IV nine hours without any ear pain 😏 also love the fact that battery life on those are 80 hours 🤤 built quality are amazing without a case almost 2 years and not any problems i had beats solo 3… trash like sound quality is amazing but built quality… disaster after 3 months ear cushion was coming off i changed it 3 times and all of those 3 pairs had the same issue… 2 nd started coming off after 6 months and 3rd one started coming off after 4 month so on the 4th time i’ve just requested money refund dont go for it you will be thankfull because you will save some time and nerves
These are definitely trying to rival the Sony headphones lineup. That’s likely why Apple is really pushing cross compatibility and easy pairing with Android also. This is super competitive. I like it.
Ok, so basically there main purpose is for those who want them for show and want to appear to be cool and use them as wearables, and the fact they produce sound is secondary, like a feature...
I have had solo 3 since christmas 2020 and i’d say i listen to them atleast 2 hours a day every day for the past 3 1/2 years. Ive got gripes with them - build quality feels cheap, they’re uncomfortable to wear for long periods, the mic is terrible and i think theres not much higher end sound
For those reading this comment don’t waste your time on BOSE Headphones ultra and Beats Studio studio pro. Quality of sound sucks . Pay the price and purchase Apple Air pod Max…thank me later if you love sound QUALITY….
The reason there was such a time gap between the 3 and 4 is because you skipped the solo pro. That came after 3 4 years ago and for my $ the best well rounded headphones beats ever released. So good I bought it twice. (Might get another)
Are you an on-ear or over-ear type of headphone person?

The studio pros go on sale regularly and can be had at the same price. Hold on to your old headphones and buy these on Black Friday.

You missed the Beats Solo Pro in your timeline. A great set of cans.
Facts!
I was gonna say that too (I’m assuming he intentionally did it cause they’re discontinued) nonetheless still very misleading with the “8 yearsss”

my head is very sensitive to pressure and the heat of wearing over ear headphones builds up so I feel like the on ears are perfect
I need over ears. On the ears kills me. My work headset is on the ear and I hate it
Good analogy on the over the ears, I had completely forgot the part that it can get hot on your ears when you completely trap the ears inside.
I picked up the Beats Studio Pro during a sale. Very happy with those. I even prefer them over the Airpods Max, which may be a tiny bit of a hot take.
really? how's the sound quality between studio pro and airpods max

the beats solo 4 are not good enough for wiping your ass with, two tin cans connected with a string produce better quality sound than the beats solo 4
Hmmm hoping for a refreshed Beats Solo Pro... But looks like the cans from 5 years back is still superior with the build and active noise cancellation.
At that price and no ANC for a BT headphone in 2024... No. Not worth it. Better the Sony ULT wear at that price.

What I don’t like about the Beats proprietary chip is that you can’t connect and listen to more than one Bluetooth accessory like AirPods can.
