  • Dr. Jordan Rogers continues preaching verse-by-verse through The Gospel of John in this sermon from John 12:1-11 entitled, “Preparations for the Death of Jesus.”
John’s purpose in John 12:1-11, is to record the event of Jesus’ anointing at Bethany by Mary-an anointing of preparation for His burial. In this passage we see Jesus’ body prepared for burial, Judas’ cold heart prepared for betrayal, and the crowds gathering near for His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Though Mary was unaware of the prophetic nature of her anointing Jesus with the costly ointment, and Judas was unaware of his own heart being prepared for betrayal, Jesus was keenly aware of the greater significance of all that was taking place.
