My father played this for me one time around the fire. "Kate, you gotta hear this song! It reminded me of you!" And he played this. This was when I was on a John Prine kick and I had asked him if he liked him as well, because one thing we both loved dearly was good music. I cried when he played it because it was so sweet and made a lot of sense... I was a handful growing up and still am to this day. On Halloween this year he died at 71 in his favorite airplane alongside his good friend, after 56 years of safe flying and even saving himself and others from emergency situations. He was a legend in the world of light sport and homebuilding and the world lost not only an iconic aviator, but the worlds best dad. I can't stop listening to this song. It will always be so special to me and have so so many layers of meaning.
She writes her songs like John Prine. I saw a video of them together with him watching her. I think he is proud of her. Keep saying whats on your mind Kacey
They loved each other big big love and sweet - not a taint in it. Loved her singing this with him on stage with her. His glow up was beautiful. Thank you Kacey. Your love was a force to be reckoned with.
Back in the 70s when I was maybe 5 my mother would spin 60s/early 70s music on our record player Could hear it anywhere in the house. There was Croche, Credence, Stones, etc....but John Prine was the only one that I ever really truly stuck with.
I love that we are a strong 2nd generation of Prine fans. I learned every word to The Missing Years album when I was 9 and have loved him ever since! I was lucky enough to have met him twice.
I discovered old John Prine not long before he passed away and ever since there's no day I 'youtube' some of his marvelous songs. Indeed John Prine remain alive as long as there's one of his admirers playing any of his masterpieces of country music...and there're hosts of new fans discovering this wonderful man's songs every day.

She’s 1 “Jolene” away from being the second coming of Dolly. Quick wit. Everything down to the T.

This was written by Roger Harvey. He sang it in a reserved way. The attitude she brings to this song, well she nails it. MAKE IT A SINGLE KACEY.
