  • People love imagining what the end of time could look like. But the apocalyptic themes we notice in movies arises broadly from religion. Dr. Shabir Ally compares Christian and Muslim views of the apocalypse. He discusses the Book of Revelation and the Gospels, metaphorical and literal interpretations of the apocalypse, the return of Jesus, borrowed themes in the Muslim tradition, and Quranic references.

Religious extremists have spent 2000 years trying to validate prophecy, they already know the prophecies. Over thousands of years it’s not that hard to orchestrate situations that would “confirm” them. If you consider yourself an atheist and something this simple makes you wonder anything, then you seriously need to hit the books.

The Muslim eschatology is the gospels antichrist of end times. Jesus will come after to destroy Islam. Their antichrist is our Christ. Our antichrist is their leader who will try to deceive all Christians into believing we are false and Islam is correct even with false doctrine. If you fall for this you will burn in hell. Better study better. JWS is also apostasy. Mormons is apostasy. Roman Catholicism is the whore of Babylon and potentially false prophet.

I just got into a physical fight with then my literal best friend of 5 yrs about this same topic. I ended up telling him to go talk to someone at the mosque and he got defensive. I tried to explain my faith to him and he fears it. It ended up him calling my prophet evil (Astaghfirullah).
What I can’t understand is how you truly believe in your faith. Believe it is the truth. But be so worked up and intimidated by other religion , that doesn’t preach in imposing their own religion unto other. True Muslims. Wallah it’s been a day. This is real life and a real issue . It’s crazy

So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful.

Muhammad is not written about in the Bible at all. All prophets were Jewish and under covenant. Therefore, he is not a prophet within the Abrahamic religions of Judaism and Christianity... but a different religion much like the prophets of Baal. There is a consistency within the messages of prophets under covenant.

After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God! 2For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.” 3Again they said, “Alleluia! Her smoke rises up forever and ever!” 4And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, “Amen! Alleluia!” 5Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!”
6And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! 7Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
9Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” 10And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
      Christ on a White Horse
11Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
      KING OF KINGS AND
      LORD OF LORDS.
The Beast and His Armies Defeated
17Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, 18that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.”
19And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.

I’m not Hebrew and I’m not a follower of traditional Judaism. I’m not Arabic and I’m not a follower of Islam. I do, however, worship the God of Abraham and my religion is personal - not institutional. So how do you think I should answer when I’m asked what my religion is?
I have studied the Hebrew Bible and the Gospels, the Epistles and the Apocalypse extensively and I have read an English paraphrase of the Qur’an. Because I was born and raised in the United States and have lived here my entire life, I have, undoubtedly, been influenced by the culture in which I live.
In some ways, this video is delightful. 1) Both people speak a version of English I can understand easily. 2) Dr. Ally is at least as well acquainted with the Bible as most of my neighbors are. 3) He is aware of at least some of the several ways professed Christians have interpreted the prophecies of the Bible.
The following is something I posted on the Internet recently in response to a question about people interpreting the apostle Paul’s reference to being caught up (I Thessalonians 4:17). I’m posting it here in the hope that Christians, Muslims and anyone else can be made aware of some additional interpretations of the prophecies.
    ***********************
The word, “rapture”, is a possible translation of the phrase often translated as “caught up”, in I Thessalonians 4:17: “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
The “catching up” of believers is so closely associated with the “thousand years” (aka millennium) mentioned in Revelation 20 that it can be helpful to consider them together when studying the history of eschatology (the branch of theology pertaining to interpretation of prophecy).
2,000 years ago, the majority of observant Hebrews expected a messianic king to throw off Roman rule and return their nation to the level of political security and wealth that had characterized the reigns of David and Solomon over 900 years earlier. The Hebrews preferred to ignore the “suffering servant” prophecies of Isaiah 50:6; 52:14 and especially chapter 53.
Between 100 and 1,000 A.D. all or nearly all commentaries on Bible prophecy were written by clergy who considered themselves more or less obligated to promote the doctrine that an organization with headquarters in Rome was “the Church” and that “the Church” represented the thousand year reign of Jesus on Earth.
As the 1,000th anniversaries of the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus approached, many people from Europe made pilgrimages to Jerusalem in the hope of being there when Jesus would return.
In the seventeenth century, the majority of Christians in North America subscribed to the doctrine that they were in the process of creating a millennial reign of Jesus in the New World, sometimes even including references to North American being (or becoming) the new Jerusalem.
In the United States in the early nineteenth century, the prevailing view was that there would be a thousand years of peace and increasing prosperity, during which thousand years, the “whole world” would be converted in preparation for the return of Jesus.
The 1830s and ‘40s, there were several versions of “millennial fever” in the United States including one that anticipated that I Thessalonians 4:17 would be fulfilled in the 1940s, that believers would be caught up to meet the Lord in the air but only long enough for the earth to be cleansed with fire, after which, believers would reign with Jesus on Earth
Somewhere about 1850, another version developed, similar to that but anticipating that the finally impenitent alive at the second coming will first call for the rocks and mountains to hide them from the glory if Jesus and then be destroyed by his glory as the redeemed are being caught up to meet him and that the prophecy of I Thessalonians 4:17 would include the fulfillment of the promise of Jesus to take believers to the mansions he would go to prepare in his father’s house. If the reign with Jesus (Revelation 20:4-6) is understood to be in heaven for a thousand years, that seems to imply that the redeemed would inherit the earth only after the thousand years.
Each of these concepts of the millennium allowed for understanding of I Thessalonians 4:13-18 as being the same event as the one described in the following passages:
John 14:2 & 3 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Acts 1:11 ...this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
1 Corinthians 15:51-53 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
    Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.
Revelation 6:14-17 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
These interpretations of I Thessalonians 4:17, when they were being enthusiastically promulgated, were compatible with the then-widely-held belief that biblical references to “tribulation” were to past or present tribulations (troubles).
About the time of the peak of millennial fever in the United States, John Darby began to teach in Ireland that almost all of the prophecies of the Bible will be fulfilled in the future, that the being caught up mentioned in I Thessalonians 4:17 will be a separate event from most of the prophecies about the second coming of Jesus and that a future seven-year “tribulation” (or part of it) will occur between the catching up of believers and the second coming.
The doctrine of a pre-tribulation rapture is currently popular with people in the United States who identify as “evangelical”. The pre-tribulation rapture would be even more popular if it were not for two things.
1: Most people who read I Thessalonians 4:17 in the context of verses 13-18 don’t see any hint that being caught up will occur before the second coming of Jesus.
2: The pre-tribulation rapture has come to be considered as integral with radical political conservatism in the United States.

Dear Muslims, I am Muslim and I believe in the Quran 100. But do you think it's possible parts of the old books are also correct? Like the Book of Revelation in the Bible describes what's happening now with Covid 19. Like seriously I read it and it seems to be true in describing the end time. Obviously Allah is God but he did send the previous books before the Quran. The 4 Horsemen story doesn't seem made up. It's mentioned in the Torah and Bible.

God keeps every promise He makes and his Messiah, Jesus, is the 'Yes' to every promise. there is Hope in life because of the resurrection of Jesus! He is God in flesh, Immanuel and came to die for all mankind, to take our punishment of our sins and to free us to live for the one true God, the Father. God gave of his Son that you and i might choose to believe on Him and receive eternal life and the gift of the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins.... whom the Son sets free is free indeed! Hallelujah!
this being said, true believers reject any gospel other than the Good News God gave of His Son. to reject this is rejecting God's gift. to go on and follow someone else, whomever that may be?? is Not God's will. the Father has given all authority to his Son for what He endured and accomplished (it is finished!) because He humbled Himself and became a man and endured suffering and the setting aside of His glory to do the Father's will. He died on that cross...even if you don't believe that...He did! there are countless witnesses and they died for their faith in this. He came to this earth from heaven above to be the perfect sacrifice (God's Lamb) to take upon Himself our sins and He took our punishment that you and i deserve, so that we could be set free from our sins and live for God and to have eternal Life. without the Son, you are still in darkness and still in your sins, still condemned.

      3 Questions
      (1) If Quran is perfect, why borrowed information from other books?
      (2) Quran is full of Jewish people, and why the Jews do not accept it as a holy and true book?
      (3) Why the stories in the books of Judaism, Islam and Christianity are different?
Discrepancies are there. Search the truth yourself and the truth shall make you free.

The Bible is just as God inspired and is just as infallible.
      The Quran literally states this
      Chapter 3 verse 3.
"Shakir: He has revealed to you the Book with truth, verifying that which is before it, and He revealed the Tavrat and the Injeel aforetime, a guidance for the people, and He sent the Furqan."
To deny the gospels and scripture is to deny Mohammed and God's Word.

      🔻No one can see God ( 1 John 4:20 - John 5:37 )

🔻Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

🔻Jesus said why do you call me good ? ”No one is good except God alone
      ( Luke 18 : 19 )
( This proves Jesus made it clear he is not good & only God is Good )
🔻For there is ➡️ one God ⬅️ and there is one mediator between God & Men, the ➡️ man ⬅️ Christ Jesus, ( 1 Timothy 2:5 )
( This proves Jesus is a man. not God )
      🔻Jesus said, “Hear, o Israel : The Lord our God is one. ( Mark 12 : 29 - 31 )
( Jesus compared himself with the people by saying our God is one )
      🔻The bible makes it clear God is not a man ( Numbers 23 : 19 )
( Why do the Christians say Jesus is God and human )
      🔻Jesus, said, “Hear, o Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord Is 0ne ( Mark 12 : 29 - 31)
( Why do the Christians say Jesus & God are both Gods )
🔻Jesus said to the people I am ascending to my Father & your Father, to my God & your God.” ( John 2O : 17 )
( Jesus Compared himself with the people by saying my God and your God.”)
🔻But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the son, but the Father ( Mark 13:32 )
( The fact that Jesus does not know the future proves he is not God )
🔻Fellow Israelites, listen to this :Jesus of Nazareth ➡️ a man ⬅️ accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. ( Acts 2:22 )

21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. 24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25 Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

The Woman symbolizes Israel as a nation in Chapter 12. The imagery is taken from Joseph's dream in Genesis 37:9-11. The dragon represents Satan. The color red symbolizes death and more specifically murder. The seven heads symbolize the seven gentile world kingdoms that Satan has led since the beginning of creation. The 10 horns represent the 10 kings that will rise to power and reign during the Tribulation.
Stars represent angels. When Satan rebelled he took a third of the angels with him. From the time Israel became a nation, he tried to destroy her to keep the Messiah from coming. Had Satan known, that by crucifying Jesus, he was actually fulfilling God's plan of redemption he would have never done it.
The child is the Messiah. The destiny of Jesus is to rule over God's kingdom on the earth. The ascension of Jesus to heaven and to God's throne emphasizes the exaltation of Jesus.
The reason the woman is fleeing to the wilderness is because the Abomination of Desolation has taken place. Israel flees to the wilderness in the middle of the Tribulation to wait out the last half of the Tribulation. Most scholars believe the Jews will flee to Petra.

To be clear. I am a born Muslim and raised. I believe in the oneness of God and the Quran 100. What is the deal with the Book of Revelation in the Bible? I mean some of it seems to be true. Like didn't Allah (God) send the those books also? So is it possible that the events being described could be true? The Quran does say it came to confirm the earlier books in truth. Covid 19 has been around for 3 years now and there are 10 different variations of it. So Yes I do believe God is one and Muhammad is the last Prophet and all of the earlier Prophets and Jesus is the second to last Prophet before Muhammad. What are your thoughts on this? Is it possible some parts of the old books can be true or no? What I do know is God is one so only he truly knows. And I know there will be major and minor signs. So could it be it's one of the signs of the end? If anyone knows I'd appreciate it.

Who knows? If God wants us to be divided until the end then that will happen (and maybe that's why there is truth in the three books), If he wants to unite us before the end then that will happen no matter which religion "was right" in the end. The only thing I pray to God on this matter is: Please Lord have mercy on all of the people who believe in you no matter the religion and those who act as you asked us to do, please, have mercy upon our souls. Amen

A very high percentage of Muslims assume that, if the Bible is read at all, it should be interpreted by the Qur’an or other Muslim sources. A very high percentage of Christians assume that, if the Hebrew Bible is read at all, it should be interpreted by the Gospels or/and the Epistles. Even Hebrews are taught to interpret the Hebrew Bible by rabbinical traditions.
In 1958, I made a conscious decision to do the opposite of that. I had never heard it called that but I articulated it as “the principle of prior reference” - the principle that anything purported to be special revelation should be evaluated and interpreted by earlier revelation.
There are people alive today who wish to be considered prophets. There are people who make no particular claim to be prophets but whose followers consider them to be prophets. I don’t subscribe to the doctrine that the last inspired instruction from the creator to humanity is the book of Revelation or the Qur’an but, if people are willing to consider that there may be prophets now or in the future, how do we decide who among them is truly inspired by the creator of all things and whose writings or saying should be rejected or at least questioned?
The only answer that makes sense to me is to evaluate and interpret any revelation not merely by what we have been told is the “meaning” of the older writings but by those older writings themselves.

    • @sadafkhan1858

Since earlier scriptures were also reveled
By Allah . So there is ofcourse possibility that there is truth to it . But we also have been told since bible and torah have been changed by people according to their convenience therefore according to Allah’s principles there was need for final and true book and prophet before the day of judgement so there wont be any doubt or excuse left for humanity that they werent guided on true path . Having said that anything in bible that is confirmed by Quran and prophetic narrations , i believe in that . However it seems to be previous scriptures have more details about prophets stories and end times .since people have unnecessarily digged into them and deviated from understanding its essence and actually focusing on prayers and daily conducts etc it wasn’t necessary in Quran to mention them in details and to keep the focus on their takmeel e emaan . I hope it answers your qst

I cannot not remember who first came up with interesting metaphorical explanation of of the false Christ. Mustafa Mahmoud , Egyptian writer, adopted that explanation. He says that the false Christ is not a person but he is the modern civilization which has been happening. It is one-eyed, seen only the material, and neglected the spiritual part. We all witnessed miracles of science and modern tech. Human can, fly into space and dive deep in ocean and see online things are thousands of miles away. People worship it, the false Christ , instead of God because they trust material things more than they trust God. It is very rich and has mountains of bread and gold. It is true that the new civilization has been able to produce wealth and food unprecedently . .and .. so on. But the fact that the false Christ is not mentioned in the Qur’an, this raises the idea of the leakage of these stories into Islam tradition from Christianity or other religions

Being that Matthew, Mark,Luke and John were all written over 50 after the events. And what little truth is so garbled it makes little sense. As it says in on of the chapters. "Jesus spread the gospel." Well, what was that gospel? If he spread the gospel as it was said. Wouldn't it be the gospel of him? Not of a person who wasn't even alive. Look up were the books written when Jesus (pbuh) walked the earth? There are way too many book available which aren't of opinion.

No prophet has been given the knowledge of apocalypse or the end times. On the contrary the Quran very emphatically states Allah swt has not revealed its knowledge to even a single prophet.
In fact every prophet was pestered by posing this question and everyone of the prophet was made to tell to his people that the knowledge of its coming is not given to them.
The words used by Dr. Shabbir Aly " in the Islamic tradition are rubbish "
When Allah swt has so clearly stated in the Quran that he has not given its knowledge to any human.
The words are always: " say its knowledge is only with Allah swt ".

The Book of Revelation does not say that Christians will not experience the tribulation . That is a mistranslation that some evangelicals have made by interpolating writings of Paul into the Revelation.

Chapter 4 describes it perfectly. The things that will happen after the church age. In other words, the church is raptured. Also, isn't is strange that the church is no longer mentioned after chapter 4?

      @brackguthrie9470 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@seanc2788 Chapter 4 is not speaking of "rapture" of the church. You reading a description of the worship in the heavenly court. Also, Revelation is not in chronological order. It is apocalyptic literature, not a fortune-telling narrative. It is not more literal than Christian teaching regarding the third temple prophecy in Ezekiel.

@@brackguthrie9470 But you have to take it with 1Thessalonians 4:16-17. Paul speaks of the rapture here. And John 11:25-26 where Jesus speaks of the rapture here. Go back to the flood. Noah's ark was the first presentation of the rapture. God saves his people from sudden destruction. Why would Christ put his bride through God's wrath? It makes no sense.
John was raptured into heaven in the beginning of chapter 4. John's rapture represents the rapture of the church. John says "and immediately I was in the spirit", because it is the only way he knows to describe the rapture experience. The one sitting on the throne is God. The 24 elders represents the church in heaven.

@@seanc2788 John was not physically "raptured" into heaven. He was describing his vision. Paul is not speaking of a rapture. He is speaking of the end of time when Jesus returns. As far as Noah, keep in mind that Noah was not raptured, or taken. Noah and his family were "left behind". I really dont see how you get allusion to a rapture from Jesus' words in John 11. He is speaking of the resurrection when all believers will be reunited with their bodies as glorified beings. This will happen at his second coming. He will only come again once. As far as the bride going through God's wrath, we have been in the "1000 years" since Christ's resurrection. This tribulation is not a literal 7 years. That is apocalyptic language. Seven is a symbol of completion. Much of what you read in Revelation is describing the Christian experience in the late first and early second centuries. The Church did not believe in this rapture idea from the beginning. Millennarianism was invented in the 1800s and early 1900s and has led so many crazy ideas and fanaticism.

There is absolutely no mention of a rapture in the book of Revelation. Yehoshua/Jesus does discuss coming for his “church”-body of believers who put faith in him but not before the tribulation…it is before the wrath of God about 3.5 years into the tribulation. This idea of a pre-tribulation rapture was invented and introduced about 100 years ago by a man called Darby (and may have existed even prior to him.)and is not Biblical.

3:12 this is wrong we believe that when Jesus returns he was set up the millennial kingdom and then there will be a thousand years of peace. I also think it's funny that he says some Christians are afraid to read the Book of Revelation because it's the only book in the Bible that promises every reader a blessing for reading it. It's strange that he admits Muslims borrowed from the Bible because at the end of the book of Revelation it promises to curse anyone that adds even a word to the book as it is the final revelation of Jesus Christ. Then Islam comes along 600 years later and claims to be The final revelation.

He gives people plenty of time to choose him even throughout the book as he's pouring out judgment He has a remnant of people testifying even to the point where The two witnesses perform miracles and give testimony, angels are flying through the sky testifying and giving people the opportunity to turn to him before he pours out his final judgment.
