"It looks really, really pissed off!"
Finally have some free time to get going with Elize again. Forgot how much fun X1 was again. :P
Strategy: Even with jacking some stats up (Around 1500 INT and 900 STR), this fellow feels pretty beefy... and it mostly has to do with the strat in mind. Brutaur has a couple of attacks that feel tricky to handle with Elize. These include:
-Charging straight at her (Guard Manip)
-Digging up a rock ball to throw as a line AOE
-A close range headswing (Be ready to hit retry)
    -A back kick (It exists)
    -Hip Stun (Counter)
-Call Out (Summons adds if successfully activated)
The Guard manip being him charging feels like it auto locks so because of that, can't sidestep, nor can I backstep it. Thus led me to incorporate Vacuum as the opener and main punish for the fight.
The main idea is to loop knockdowns to trigger Terror's extra chance to stun, hold the spell till he recovers so full damage is received (Also taking opportunities to cast during boss walk back). Like Anomaly, attacking during KD to recover TP (Which I found out Elize's down attack gives back mad TP). If at any point you're placed in a corner, use Vacuum, then jump after to dash into a Roar, restarting the loop. Negative Gate I didn't find as useful since Hip Stun covers a lot of distance, leading to a lot of failed takes (Though in some instances, I noticed getting really close during the counter, Elize would sometimes clip past Brutaur, causing him to whiff). Another way to deal with the counter is if you cast a quick spell as he approaches with an action, this usually procs it and you have time to sidestep and counter with Squash and Roar (Allowing for a Negative Gate followup). Vacuum really is like Hammerzamm, the star of the show in this fight. It mostly invalidates a lot this boss throws at you (Though you have to time it right). One thing to note is while it can cancel out Call Out, you have to be closer than normally using it. I've found the range to be a bit stubby.
I need to stress we do not want Call Out to proc! While it is possible to recover, it does require to keep your attention on a target that may cast or approach (against a boss who is pretty fast). In most cases, Pow Hammer, Roar or Vacuum can deal with it.
I also wanted to get a MA kill, but having a boss take over 30 hits in a combo works out just as well. :P
    Modifications:
Used CE to make Elize the only party member
Added all of Elize's Artes and Skills
    Used Herbs to increase stats
Removed Overlimit restriction on Mystic Artes
    System: PS3 (Ran on RPCS3)
    Song: Infinity 2 - Fantavision 202X

Glad to see Mr. Stove back on the Elize! You always have a unique approach to these fights that I enjoy watching even if they take a while :)

That hip check looks so goofy, I love it, lol.
Also, wow, that was some crazy stun time. Boss must’ve been sleepy.
