I don't care what people say about her, I'll always love and admire this woman as an artist. She was the reason I wanted to be an author when I was a young kid, and inspired me to start writing my own stories. Not to mention Harry Potter got me through one of the darkest times of my life.

@Tommy Daniels if u r being sarcastic, don't be. Search for the novels read the books and watch the movies. I did countless times. And for the last movie premiere harry potter 7 part 2, they had the biggest movie premiere ever with the world's longest red-carpet and it was live. The potter fan has camped outside for 55 hours or maybe more before the premiere started. Watch it
Read HP as an adult, at the time of release, only because my children were reading them. Now I was an avid reader as a child, you name an old school children's book and I've likely read it. I clearly remember reading the first chapter of HP and realising that I was witnessing a phenomena in real time. I knew without doubt the books would become as famous, or more, as TLTWATW for instance, and be read for generations. Very strange feeling at the time, not often you get to be there at the beginning and also knowing it's the beginning of something big/huge.
I feel your comment is targeted to sarcasm but she's already succeeded in her goals and Harry Potter is now one of the most read books in the world. Lol! This was prolly 22 years ago.
It really surprises me that videos posted of her on here (especially her interviews as she was still writing the saga) don't get even a fraction of the views the videos do about the child actors who played (badly for the most part) the characters in the film franchise. It's even more baffling when you think of how many of the actual books were sold.
I’m disappointed in the media for not giving the authors more credit and elevating them! Do you know how much research and work goes into a novel… well if the first one does well, then you might get an advance. I think she got some money out of this one. 😉 But before that, it’s a gamble and working and hoping!
You poor thing it's ok ,to be scared I would be too. If something would be something phenomenal. And it's can be a good thing, and I know I would be too honestly. I'm lover of writing too. Thank you for your inspiration.
@@meesteranonymous8177 I'm not a trans activist, I don't know where that came from. Maybe you could call me an ally? I still love the Harry Potter universe and the books and everything about it. I separate the art from the artist. I do find her views on trans rights horrible though. And I do think she has become smug from the way she replies to the world's reactions to her sayings. She doesn't seem to care at all. I literally read somewhere that she said "Im too rich to care about what people say". Like, seriously!? And that kinda pisses me off. I do like watching old interviews of her though, like this one. And it pisses me off when some people don't realize that yes I can not agree with her views and still love her books the way I did as a kid. It’s true that generally you can’t support yourself off a handful of children’s books, but she managed to successfully do that. Harry Potter took the world by absolute storm, it was by far the biggest obsession I’ve seen in my lifetime, it made (and continues to make) a TON of money and got rave reviews and avid fans eagerly awaiting each future book. How many authors can say their children’s books are so successful across such a wide age range that their publisher can justify publishing the books again, unedited, with an adult cover because there’s an army of older readers buying and enjoying the series? She’s a success and a huge inspiration as an author. Sure she may not be making the best decisions lately whatwith beating a dead horse on Harry’s world, but, ultimately, if the money keeps coming and the readers continue reading, nothing else matters.
It's interesting hearing about early Hollywood interest then, and now we are well past the entire 8 movie series that has made billions with all the actors becoming stars in their own right.
It’s a cold & windy day in Edinburgh so is either late winter or autumn. She says her second book is out (published mid-1998) and she’s writing the third but she hasn’t signed any film rights (WB obtained those in early Oct 1998) so my bet is September 1998. Earlier that year she signed with Scholastic for $100K+ and a month later WB would pay a ‘seven figure sum’. For an author whose second book was hardly out this was all amazing. Within 12 months she went from poor author to millionaire all off the back of just one book.
