Canada, though the people who first taught me to stay hooked in rather than disconnecting were Swiss. Get crazy and try staying hooked in sometime when packing up - if everyone is unhooked, you will be the first in the air the next time you show up to launch and it's windy. Fly far!
Hallo Mescal Tango, Thanks for this instructive video. I'll try this out, you can be sure. As to unhooking the canopy, I have the impression the Germans/Austrians always unhook, the French nearly never. Being German living in France in don't unhook., for safety reasons and in order to avoid a mistake caused by distraction. Next, I am using the old fashioned screw system, the more modern "click in" devices are certainly easier to handle.
Fast and easy way of packing. I will try this next time! I did not understand most of what you said, but seeing is more important. My Italian is restricted to what I have learned in the pizzeria, so I think I hear you say "Calzone su Calzone" sometimes. :-)
Search for the "Madsen Pack" on youtube. This method works when its windy and its fast and easy. All the mylars are together and you don't have to disconnect your harness.
I tried the technique in the wind yesterday. It was blowing about 8 knots at the coast. It didn't work that well, perhaps it's better suited for calmer areas...
I never unhook, just fold my pack and stuff it in my harnas. When I'm at the lauch site just unfold make a fieldpack and go. i only properly fold at the and of the day. ;-)
Ciao, I would like to thank the person that taught me this method in the landing area of Saleve ... but unfortunately I don't know the name! If I'll meet him again, I'll try to understand who is the inventor of this method. But if I remember well it comes from Brazil!
lol- the swiss invented it - again ;) in fact i saw 2 swiss pilots packing their stuff without unhooking at the weekend. I have never seen it before (at least i did not recognize it). I am pretty sure it saves time. I am not sure about the safety factor ;)
Here's the deal - any experienced pilot - or rookie for that matter - will tell you that you should NEVER unclip your wing from the harness - unless absolutely neccesary. It is more likely / risky that you could screw up the re-attachment thus its part of teh program. This is why you do not see more of this type of packing.
Where do you fly? Not many people unhook anymore. Doesn't make any sense - it's way more work. Just pack the glider as you normally would, then simply accordion it from the trailing edge. Saves a huge amount of time when you show up to launch and it's windy. Not much reason why you can't launch in 5 minutes of arrival in these conditons.
You did not get it, right? Every Glider Pilot i know unhooks the glider from the harness to pack the glider. I wonder how you pack your glider while the harness is still connected?
You can debate this until your blue in the face. In the end it comes down to what the individual pilot is most comfortable with. That said, unhooking just plain doesn't make sense!? Do you pull your lines off your risers too? Your reserve out of your harness? Your backpro out? No. Why unclip the wing then? Just my two sense. Fly safe.
Answer me please. Is this way good, to pack your wing? I wouldn't say it's fast, because if you want to pack your wign good - it will take from 10 to 15 minutes.
You did not understand the proposition: it's about safety - not the care of your "wing." Anyone can think of ways to extend the life of a glider - but if you "re-attach" your wing to the harness every time you fly - the risk of an error in doing so is elevated considerably. Hmm... A wing worth $100 more when I sell it versus the chance of hooking up wrongly. The readers shall choose
And btw - suggesting that saving 5 minutes of "packing time" is more valuable than risking hooking up wrong (nope - noone has ever done that - never seen it and never done it - and especialliy the "pros" - it is simply wrong. Think about it.
I don't know what the fuss is about "safety" if you unhook?? I unhook my wing. Why is that unsafe?? Do you NOT know how to unhook? If you think unhoooking a wing is unsafe, then do you keep your self hooked to the harness permanently in fear that you may harness up wrong? If you don't know how to hook back your wing correctly (two carabiners, d'oh!), then you shouldn't be flying, PERIOD.
What? That's rubbish DrFun666, everybody unhooks. Learn to hook up, it's trivial and easy, if you don't know how you should probably try to recertify as a P1.
Dig it mate! Never seen that style before but I will totally try this out, looks great for both space and protecting the glider.
Ciao sore sono il Simone di 1b continua così i tuoi video sono stupendi
That is awesome, I need to try it. I like the strap around the mylar leading edge fins too.
Really good.I'll be trying this out tomorrow.Thank you for sharing.
Grazie di avere condiviso questo metodo! Appena torna bel tempo lo provo :) Un saluto dalla Val di Fassa!
So simple and yet so cool. Amazing this isn't common knowledge. I wonder how that works at the windy coast, I'll try it. Thanks!

Excellent! gonna try that in an Ozone Addict! thanks for share!!!
bel sistema, sembra poco faticoso e veloce! Da provare immediatamente!
Corretta l'osservazione di non camminare sulla vela!

Ahh Finally, a PG pilot with a sense of humor. Hehe

This language sounds to me like a lyrics of a song or poem :)

ticoglider, I think just like you! Thanks for your comment!
@alexsakon Hahaha! Some people should never unclip!
HAHAHA!!! lmao, funny dude

Hi ;) i fly in europe. Never heard of people that do not unhook to pack the glider. LOL ... crazy, isnt it? where are you from?
bonjouuu

All mylar is stacked flat. I see no reason why it wouldnt be.
it is DHV 1 or DHV 1-2 the cesons are big but what about wings with smaler cesons no way you can packed them so easily !!!
And btw - suggesting that saving 5 minutes of "packing time" is more valuable than risking hooking up wrong (nope - noone has ever done that - never seen it and never done it - and especialliy the "pros" - it is simply wrong. Think about it.
Mdr il est mon prof de math 😂😂
Mdr pareil
Thecaptain019 le mien XD
Thecaptain019 c'est QUI ton prof principal
Shadow LOL Mme Stucklin
Why so lazzy?
Mate - that's total bull, attached to your harness or free there is no difference to the wear and tear on the glider - sorry.
