7 sec to 100 is very impressive for the power and weight figures. Faster than an outback XT with over 40 extra kW.

Why is there no TROC R version of this model ?? Thanks

Not sure. An RS would go down well wouldn’t it.

@@drivingenthusiastaustralia Yes, 5cyl turbo in this would be fantastic

Exactly because the T ROC R already exists and VW doesn't want to cannibalise its own sales.

There are no rear charging ports btw just a 12V outlet... weirdly for 2024.

There is 12V, 230V and one USB-C port as extras down there... This car doesn't have it.

It's hard to believe such a small difference in 0-100 time between with and without launch control ))) the launch control on VW Group cars with dsg and awd in 100% of cases reduces the 0-100 time by 0.5 to 1 full second.

I've experienced a similar thing with the Golf GTI as well. Because these modern engines produce so much torque low down (1500rpm in this case), there isn't really a need to rev the hell out of it. Even for an AWD, the high torque and almost instantly available means it doesn't bog down like AWD turbos of yesteryear.
Also, VW has improved its DSG over the years so now there is a lot less slack/take-up time during initial departure.

@@drivingenthusiastaustralia It's nothing new that turbocharged engines have low end torque. 15 years from now they also had this thing. And 320Nm is definitely nothing impressive for a 190hp turbo petrol engine. The torque down low has nothing to do with the fact that launching them (dumping the clutch) reduces the 0-100 time significantly because of the added torque from rotational speed difference, regardless of the engine torque number. Take a look at Porsche. They rev those twin turbo engines to 5000rpm to dump the clutches and launch the car. They will add +1 second to 100km/h without using launch control.
They don't bog down because they rely on clutch slip for not very powerful cars.

@@Eugen-E Comparing a Porsche is different. It’s designed for absolute performance. This thing is not designed primarily for that. I think that’s why launch control doesn’t help all that much. Look at the launch control revs in fact, only 4000rpm. If you really wanted to launch you’d bring it up to 5000rpm+ and then you would probably see a bigger difference.

@@drivingenthusiastaustralia Yeah, but you have just said that turbocharged engines with low end torque don't need revving the engine. Porsche shows they actually need that ))) You can't replicate that initial jump without dumping the clutch ))
You can find on the internet a lot of VW Group vehicles with the same setup where they show a significantly much bigger difference. The point is, the time with launch is ok, but the 7.1s time without launch is very hard to believe. Somewhere I've seen high 7s for the T-Roc without using the launch. Maybe I can find it.

@@Eugen-E Again, you’re comparing a high performance engine to this. Completely different characteristics.
In the end, that’s the time the Vbox recorded. I ran 5 tests. All pretty consistent. Not sure what you want me to say. You can come with me next time and see - I have no reason to fake the results if that’s what you’re implying.
