Needless to say this is a super harp concerto! With all due respects to Mozart's Flute and Harp Concerto I would like to see this one more in regular concert programming. It has the flow of inevitability along with plentiful surprises, and the minor key elevates its expressive power which Anneleen Lenaerts projects so well!

Without a doubt, the classical harp is the most beautiful sounding instrument in existence. Never could understand why more composers did not write works for it. This is lovely.

Finally a soloist who doesn't play the 1st movement ridiculously fast, wonderful!

Lada Karasková I'm wondering if you're thinking what I'm thinking. This is one of a rare breed of concerto: one where both the fast movements are in triple meter. Further, they share similar melodic material. Playing the first movement slower helps keeps its character distinct from that of the finale.

Reinecke is for sure a very conservative composer, but an excellent one, xith deep sense of architecture and musical colour. He is quite underrated.

Thank you indeed for the 'love'.!!!!!

You can hardly consider him "conservative," looking at when he lived.

@@nonenoneonenonenone "Conservative" is by no ays pejorative. But note that his harmonic language and his formal processes did not change durin g all his career, even if his scores became more and more refined. The same applies for instance in France to Camille Saint-Saëns, or in Germany to Max Bruch. Reinecke lived from 1824 to 1910. He never used a highly chromatic tonal language as did Wagner in Trustan und Isolde, premiered in 1865. When he died, Debussy, Ravel, Richard Strauss and many others had achieved highly complex tona works, and Schoenberg wrote his very first atonal works (the finale of his second string quartet op. 10 dates from 1908 - in parallel, his friend Kandinxky painted his first abstract aquarels). This does not prevent Reinecke, Bruch or Sainr-Sarns from ranking among the great comosers of their time.

This harp is made by Camac(French). It's called "Orian 47 gold ". Costs about forty four thousand dollars.

Such a big harp, yet it has hardly any sound. She needs a Lyon & Healy harp, badly.
