I've already seen the movie, but thank you for having the decency to add a spoiler warning before the last few tracks. It's definitely an ending you don't want spoiled.
Rob Ross people deserve to get it spoiled if they check the soundtrack before watching the movie. The soundtrack is a central part of the first time experience. There’s a reason why the publishers decide to put spoilers in the track-titles.
How much it riffs on the score from the first film, I'm not sure it's eligible. Which is a shame, because an Oscar for his music would be the perfect capper four his career.
It made the scene in the movie that much better! His son uses a violin bow on a guitar to get the effect. Watch "Halloween - A Hair Raising Score Featurette" and you'll see it take place
What an amazing score. Carpenter's themes fit Halloween (the film *and* the holiday) so unbelievably well. They create such an eerie vibe that's gone unmatched with most horror films. The notes are fairly simple, with Myers' theme, Laurie's theme, the chase theme, etc - but they're still so effective and creepy.
Watch the film, its legit funny, actually scary, you like the characters, and its a more subtle horror film with alot of gore, but mostly offscreen and with a dedication like the original, it looks great, the soundtracks great, and overall amazing
Please nominate Carpenter for an Oscar. Have not seen the movie yet but he deserves this for the original iconic stamp on the horror genre! Everyone knows
The Carpenters have outdone themselves yet again. Not since Halloween has an original score given me such chills. I truly feel like this film is the only other one that can stand beside it. Its a more favorable timeline. John Carpenter is a master of horror!
I saw it today and this film can only be described as amazing. It is not a masterpiece, but it's most definitely a worthy sequel. It’s simplistic, in some ways too simplistic. You can basically tell if a character is gonna die and you don’t really feel for it. The scenes have a really realistic feel, like this can really happen to you. It also has some amazing camera tricks here and there. It’s central family theme also worked for me, I like the idea of three generation of Strodes going against the Boogeyman. I feel the first two acts are like H1, but the finale is paying homage to the H4 finale with the sheriff’s house, also some scenes were played just like H4, like a cheating boyfriend etc. There are bits of other nods to 2,4,5 and H20 here and there.
Gonna watch it this weekend. Not a Halloween fan, but I loved 1, and liked 2,4 and H20. I personally love horror films with pure soundtracks. It has so many callbacks to the musical moments in the first film 40 years ago and I'm having massive eargasms.
What I loved about 19:48 is that the scene itself payed homage to Laurie when she screams for Tommy to open the door! This film is the true Halloween 2! But I’d love to see them pay homage to the original Halloween 2 by having a sequence set in a hospital or even a hotel or high rise apartment (original plan before it was changed to a hospital in the 1981 sequel). If you don’t watch the original films before seeing this film, you won’t notice the subtle homages to the original films.
5:02 My favorite part of the soundtrack. Especially from here 6:29 Just gorgeous. Classic, haunting Carparenter. I found myself playing this scene over and over. "{{It NEEDS to die!}}"
Lol I love when a well written script comes together in unique and unexpected ways that truely put people on the edge of their seats!!! It's like.... 3d or something!!! Lol Old school red and blue glasses are still fun!!! 😁
Love the score!! It's down right amazing!! The movie was phenomenal, loved every minute of it!! Also buying the soundtrack and the movie of course when it comes out on BluRay
This theme and the original are my favorite by far. I love the heartbeat sound in this one with what sounds like a guitar thrift in the background. it sounds so visceral like michaels kills
I love 1920's silent horror, but I know a lot of others struggle with it. Here is a suggestion, you could listen to this entire OST as background noise while you watch one. I had watched the original Jekyll and Hyde with this as background sound and it fit eerily well.
I have watched all of the Halloween movies and I love them all with the exception of the two rob zombie movies. I can't wait for the two new Halloween movies to come out. Halloween kills and Halloween ends. All the Halloween movies are so amazing, awesome and excellent and I have added all of them to my collection. Now I have to get Halloween kills and Halloween ends so I can add them to my collection.
Cette compilation musicale , des films (Halloween ) , est tout-à-fait géniale ! C’est du grand ( John Carpenter ) ! Un maître …de la musique de synthétiseur !
I'm wondering if "Ray's Goodbye" was in the film either. He goes outside to investigate the police car, disappears, and the next time we see him, he's been folded up like a pretzel in a closet. There wasn't any such "goodbye" scene there.
One subject that this movie failed in is creating an immersive atmosphere. I'm not sure how, but I realize as I listen to the soundtrack that I never truly felt like it was Halloween or the season of fall. It never really feels like a Michael Myers movie should from just visuals alone. This soundtrack, though, makes you feel like the Bogeyman is following and makes you see strange Shapes in every shadow.
As cool as this soundtrack is. I do ask, where are the other tracks not included? Some of the music in the sanitarium scene, the sartain twist scene (i don't mean the track say something), the music from the dinner scene lots of missing music here. Hopefully we'll get an extended version in the future. Those music tracks were awesome
When "The Shape Hunts Allyson" comes on during the movie, trust me, you'll have some chills go down your spine! John outdid himself on this one
You are damn right I had chills. On a side note Allyson is very likable, and her relationship with grandma Laurie is sweet :)
Exactly, got chills down spine when that song came on
this is his finest work. he should win a Grammy for this score.
The Shape Hunts Allyson is my favourite track on the album and it is totally divine in the movie

@Zondie Thank you for posting the timestamps. Very much appreciated.
I've already seen the movie, but thank you for having the decency to add a spoiler warning before the last few tracks. It's definitely an ending you don't want spoiled.

This should get the Oscar for "Best Music from a Motion Picture" in 2019 at the Academy Awards.
Won't happen unless they contribute to the DNC and other left-wing groups...
@@maximuscaligula there's no politics involved with the academy awards. leave political crap out of it
Definitely does deserve an Academy award, horror needs to represented!
How much it riffs on the score from the first film, I'm not sure it's eligible. Which is a shame, because an Oscar for his music would be the perfect capper four his career.
LOL. The last thing John Carpenter wants is an oscar since he's always been anti-Hollywood system and an outsider in the industry.
The shape hunts Allyson!!! 19:37!!! Favorite on the album
Me too! 😭🎃🎃🎃
It made the scene in the movie that much better! His son uses a violin bow on a guitar to get the effect. Watch "Halloween - A Hair Raising Score Featurette" and you'll see it take place
Goes so well with the scene from the movie, fucking gave me goosebumps.
Agree. Loved when that hit in theaters.
Ok I have a question... The fat kid who tried to kiss her and failed, was he wearing the same witch costume Tina wore in H5?
The brass and synth strings used in this are unreal. “The Shape Hunts Allyson” gives me chills!
Allyson for Unison Seddon
I an extended version of that track. It's on par with the original theme!
It's the way they arrange the music. It's the emotional music since his lost themes records. There will only be ever JC, mate.
Simple but effective. Grand film scores with orchestras don’t fit in well with the creepiness of Halloween. I like it this way. :P
simple music has always been the creepiest, one of the oldest examples being dies irae
If only Mrs. Hill were still here... So we could've congratulated her too.
She would be proud of everyone, I know it.
Watch the film, its legit funny, actually scary, you like the characters, and its a more subtle horror film with alot of gore, but mostly offscreen and with a dedication like the original, it looks great, the soundtracks great, and overall amazing
Oh yes! the humor here is pretty spot on, not at all cheesy and cringy like the current trend
Remember this? Ahh damn it, I got peanut butter on my penis.
didnt like the "humor" wasnt funny at all and broke some tense moments.
Peter Productions Somehow I feel it’s definitely Danny McBride who wrote this line.
Sounds like it.
Please nominate Carpenter for an Oscar. Have not seen the movie yet but he deserves this for the original iconic stamp on the horror genre! Everyone knows
The movie and the soundtrack is brutal and spontaneous!
@@chrishofficialmusic that scene is intense definitely.
I think it's hands down John's best score to date
34:55 that gave me the chills while watching the movie and hearing this for the first time.... John Carpenter really did this one!
The SHAPE is back goddamnit!!!!
Goddamn right he is!!
The goddamn shape is coming back again next year and the year after that
This Movie, this soundtrack, was an absolute treat.
From a lifelong fan.
Thank you Mr.Carpenter.
And everyone who made it possible. :)

The ending of Michael kills for those who saw the film was absolutely chilling how he appeared out of the darkness.

That bathroom scene though...
Patrick ikr Those poor British reporters... I liked the redhead lady

Nicholas Chen the soundtrack fits so damn well with the scenes they’re used in! I kept telling myself I had to look this up after seeing it! 😂
Everything I wanted and more. So many great twists on iconic pieces.
best soundtrack since 1978
Sudden silent and goosebump at 1.15 minutes!!
Great score. As far as synth movie music goes - Carpenter is a genius. The Shape Hunts Allyson - man, what a track!
Carpenter is amazing. This edgy sound mixed with the original theme is just awesome.
Very , great music score ! Bravo to John,s Carpenter , Music!
This score gets better after every listen. Can't wait for the next ones.

Tonight's the night baby ,Halloween lives in New Jersey ,thanks to all who made this night a fun filled reality again !!!
10/10 score ..Loved it awesome
Just amazing! So ready!!!
John Carpenter is the Master.
This Halloween movie looks like a family affair... Michael vs. The three generations of Strodes...
This movie just shows how evil never gets old and as John Carpenter said himself "Horror movies will live forever!"
I would KILL to get Carpenter's autograph. Hehe get it?
OMFG! This soundtrack is phenomenal. Well done, Mr. Carpenter.
That intro gives me chills
Just got back from the movie, it was amazing! And the score is perfect!
I like this soundtrack. Welcome Home, Michael.
The Theme Gave me CHILLS... Well done John...

Metaluna Zombie Their missing a real treat, with the films from that era, but I suppose it's their loss.
Watch the film. The score as well as the film was amazing. Not disappointed at all.
1 more day can't wait
Love the Prison Montage!
also I am the only one who thinks it sounds similar to Dead By Daylight's theme? :/
Freddy Krueger kinda sometimes but not so much
John Carpenter is a Genius !
The grind is a masterpiece of a sequence....OMG ear candy !!!
Seeing it tonight my body is ready 👊

i love halloween 2018 so much
The beginning of Prison Montage sounds like something that can fin The Dark Knight films. and I love it!
Great work as always!
This soundtrack is so bad ass
Love this part 9:56
Love this my Wife and youngest daughter goes "goo-goo" over this fantastic Movies of Michael and Laurie ,But what happens to H20 now that H40 is out.
H20(Also H2) was de-canonised just like H4-6. Ironic, that movie once tried so hard to deny their existence, now it's its own turn.
Like with the original movie, the great score helps so much. It fit the movie perfectly.
This is so great
Anybody know the song played by the DJ during the Halloween ball, where the couple dressed up as Bonnie & Clyde?
Amazing score. But the music from the teaser of this album is not included!!
That's exactly what I was looking for! They used it in the film too.
I'm wondering if "Ray's Goodbye" was in the film either. He goes outside to investigate the police car, disappears, and the next time we see him, he's been folded up like a pretzel in a closet. There wasn't any such "goodbye" scene there.
I've preordered this album on cd, the book novel and the Carpenter Anthology.
Sadly, here in Italy, Halloween will be released october 25th.
I need to know the track that's playing when Aaron is talking to Michael at Smith Grove asking if he ever thinks about his victims or that night.
Can we just talk about how fucking disturbing the bathroom scene was?
I have the vinyl now :-) special edition
sounds so amazing loveeee
FUCK YES!!! I already preordered my copy
