React to "Paisagem da Janela" or "Trem Azul" from the same album. That's awesome that Clube da Esquina (and most Minas Gerais scene
in the 70's) breaks almost totally the stereotype of Brazilian Music as always happy, tropical, sunny, etc - even because this is one of the most important records of our music. Their music is very Brazilian, indeed, but in a different way....rural, bucolic, rainy, kinda ambiguous and mysterious, inspired by a mountainous countryside landscape, and heavily influenced by Classical Music, Progressive Rock and tons of Beatles.

Clube da Esquina is for me, as brazilian, the best, the unique, the most magnificent musical movement of MPB's history. It's incredible, the mix of diverse elements of diverse musical genres. This album specifically is so prog, is so consistent, solid. "Minas" from Milton Nascimento as well, for example, is an strongly jazz-fusion influenced album. All those albums from the movement are severely sophisticated and inovative, avant-garde albums, way way good and surprising to hear. I find them "a bit" underrated too, but well... It's something that tends to happen with anything considered "sophisticated", or "complex", stuff like that.

A classic!! “My thinking has the color of your dress, as the sunflower has the color of your hair!” Beautiful song! Look at other versions from many different Brazilian artists with this song, it gets amazing in all the other kinds of rhythms that were used. And the lyrics are a beautiful poem playing with the same words in different positions!
“Solar wind and Stars from the sea (starfish)
    The earth blue
From the color of your dress.
Solar wind, Star from the sea,
Do you still want to live with me?
If I sing, don’t cry (no)
    It’s just poetry!
I just need to have you
    For one more day!
    I still like to dance,
    Good morning!
    How are you?
    Sun, sunflower, green, solar wind
Do you still want to live with me?
Solar wind and stars from the sea,
A sunflower from the color of your hair!
If I die, don’t cry (no)
    It’s just the moon.
It’s your dress colored of naked wonder!
I still live in this same street.
    How are you?
Do you come? (You are coming/ will you come?)
Or will it be that it’s too late?
    ...
‘My thinking (my thoughts) has the color of your dress, as the sunflower has the color of your hair’”
All of it with deep interpretation hehehe my mind clouded with the color of your dress, your presence, whatever like that. Aaanyway, check more of it.
Love your reactions!! Brazilian, living in Egypt!! Best regards!!

Lô Borges was (still is) a solo artist. When he recorded this song, he was only 16 years old. The studio he recorded it in had only two channels. It was Lô and the support band on one channel, and the orchestra on another channel. Lô sang and played the piano at the same time. The producer said that if he made a mistake, it would harm all musicians, because the recording was live. But the boy Lô needed two or three takes to finish brilliantly.

You should hear this whole album, it’s a musical miracle!
Lo Borges, a teenager at the time, was invited by Milton Nascimento, who was already nationally known, to share the authorship of this album.
His big brother, Marcio Borges, wrote some of the lyrics. They invited another bunch of musicians to share a rented beach house near Rio, where the recording studio was, and so the magic happened.
Listen to all the album tracks in sequence. It’s one of the best albums you’ll hear in your life, no kidding!

Fico imaginando como alguém consegue fazer uma música tão cheia de identidade e “um tempo” identificado. 🌻

99,9% of musicians from anyp place in the world just love this album and add it to their favorites, once they hear it. I've been asking all my favorite bands and musicians from all around the world if they know this album, 100% of the ones that knew it said it was one of their favorites. Of course many haven't answered me as it is hard for a fan to talk directly to some artists, but of the ones that have answered me, most knew the album and 100% of the ones that knew it loved this album.

Entrou no lugar do Jairo.

This album opened up a world to me. It fuses a Beatles aesthetic through four hundred years of Brazilian music with the best possible results. It’s a gift to turn people onto this album.

He was just 17 years old by then. Stepped up in this album alongside Milton Nascimento, blending prog rock and Brazilian folk music in a unique manner. A landmark in Brazilian music.
    By the way, great reaction!
