I have had mine for some years. The KABAR Combat Black Tanto. It's surprisingly light weight and can be moved around very quickly. The 8 inch blade affords a long reach and deep penetration. It does have a very secure grip and the serrations add to its versatility. If you like this blade you will also like the modified Tanto. It has the rounded blade rather than the typical chisel point. The modified does NOT have serrations, it's uninterrupted blade the whole length. And it is the same length as the regular Tanto 1245 model. The modified is the 1266 model. My only criticism of these two fine blades. Is that they do NOT have a lanyard hole. That's important to some people, I know just that I like to have one available should I choose to use it. As much as I like the 1245 I really developed a strong liking for the 1266. Both are amazing.

That's a great looking knife. My New Cold Steel knives Tlite and the Frenzy are very durable, and I've been testing them by chopping down bamboo stalks down for fun but to test them too. They did really well and still razor sharp so I am impressed and love Cold Steel knives but I'm going have to put any new knives I want to order on the back burner for now, cause I got me a new fur baby to take care of. A cute little tabby kitten so I will need to keep my money for taking care of her for now. But I hope to add a few more to my collection, like the espada and rajah 2 and mayhem.
That's a big Tanto. Imagine how massive a knife Ka Bar would make if they came out with a model called The Lone Ranger. That Tanto would be a good sidekick.
And a monster it is, I own one and love it and whoever thinks it not a fighting knife, well we all have our opinion,lol. Really it’s whatever you want it to be. If used for what it’s intended for it will last a lifetime. If you ever get a hold of the KABAR 2211, I think you will love that monster as well. Once again thank you for sharing a awesome video.
You're absolutely right, sir. This is the bona fide fighting knife and not an outdoor/survival tool like many chop and baton with it so awkwardly. I actually own 2 of these and it's my 2nd favorite KA-BAR knife. My No.1 favorite knife is 1271 Fighter and very few seem to know that only 1245 and 1271 have a beefier tang and thus more robust and lethal than the USMC Knife. They also come in hollow grind edge so the lethality of these blades is unquestionable. It'd be great if you can also review the 1271 someday. I have one question I have one and I haven’t quite figured out how to go about sharpening it I mean I have sharpened knives with my work sharp before but what’s the best way to sharpen a tanto like that?
I love my 1245… I have two and sharpened the swedge on one… I also have a 1266 modified tanto… have you done a video on the 1266 yet? “Modified “ is actually more of the traditional tanto design…

I carry mine in my work bag with a 21in collapsible baton. I’m not allowed to carry a firearm at work, so this pair was my best option

You can use a wet stone for the plain edge and get a file if it’s the grooves for the serrated
