I'm a foreigner married to a Filipina scientist with a grown-up child. We're both still working. The first time I stepped foot on Philippine soil was during our wedding. My first impression was that the country wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination just like any other. Though the good things that made me love it are the people, culture, food, and most of all the breathtaking views of mountains and oceans, which is attributable to being an archipelago. In fairness, now the Philippines has remarkably progressed in terms of infra and all that jazz. When the time comes, we intend to build a retirement house there.

All soldiers have two dog tags. If they die in combat you put one in their mouth and take the other one to report the death.it also has the blood type so the medics can give you blood if they find you unconscious. You can have your religion on them so you can get last rights, etc. I am retired after 20 years in US army.

I heard so many negative comments from the other foreigners saying Philippines is a third world country, poor country ,dirty place to live ,scammers, corrupt govt. Horrible traffic ,And a lot more it upset me because I also heard that ! But why so many American ,British and other western people are coming to the Philippines to settle down here for good is there something special to my country ? They said America is a land of milk and honey ? Security system is good ,health system and others ! Sorry sir for asking this question I'm just curious Why? By the way thank you for choosing the Philippines. ❤🤗

The Philippines has a rich history of resilience in the face of adversity, from the violent atrocities of Japanese soldiers during World War II to the political turmoil of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s dictatorship. However, the country's struggles continue to this day, as China's military engages in blatant acts of aggression against the Philippines. Chinese forces have been encroaching upon Philippine territory, leading to dangerous confrontations and even the use of lasers against Philippine coast guards. These actions are a clear sign of China's disrespect for Philippine sovereignty and its people's right to self-determination. Despite the numerous challenges faced by Filipinos over the years, we have shown remarkable strength and determination to persevere. As the country faces another threat, the Filipino people must come together to defend their rights and their future. The world is watching, and the time has come for the international community to stand with the Philippines in the face of this aggressive behavior.

You are right for almost everything, only the Marcos Dictatorship is the one of controversial topic and can be debatable, because it's intersection of several interests during those Era, the American CIA, Communist Party of the Philippines, the Vatican thru Philippine Roman Catholic Church, the Local Oligarchs, Traditional Politicians and it's neighboring countries all ganged up to destroy the Philippines.

You know actors in olden times were considered prostitutes? That's the LAST thing you need in a good country like the Philippines. We don't need Sean Penn etc etc etc stickin their noses into their country trying to "Make the world a better place" because it will be "Just US" not for the benefit of the people.

Very fascinating story ot this good man, specially World War II history. Bataan fell on April 9 while Corregidor fell on May 6, 1942. Among Southeast Asian countries, I think the Philippines lasted longest fighting the Japanese. There were more Filipino soldiers (120,000) than American soldiers (about 30,000) who fought the Japanese when Japan invaded the Philippines in WWII. Corregidor was a fortress. It had big guns. In fact, the first Japanese regiment that tried to land in Corregidor was wiped out. But because the Japanese controlled the air, and with no supplies/reinforcements coming in, it was inevitable.
