- Dakota was inspired/written for the Lakota tribe protest and other brave peoples coming together to stop and protect the Lakota land from the building of the Dakota pipeline. There is so much history of broken treaties by the USA government going back to 1867.
Karen Lugo’s choreography looked amazing on the video roughs she sent me, and seeing Karen & Virna Vincelli performing this live for the first time brought this track and its meaning to life 💜

Hey Dan, sorry I missed this one when you posted it. I'm wondering, when you put this together did you go to the ladies and say "What can you put together to fit this?" or did you choreo it for them yourself? I ask because they flow so naturally with so much energy with the track, it seems like its their reactions with the music more than a strict choreo'd routine.
I know this was a while ago, but if you're still in touch with the three ladies, please pass along a huge BZ for their performance from me, especially Lilliana given what you mention to another commenter about this being her first Juno show. She has an amazing voice, and it's really cool watching her body start to move as she realizes it's OK to let it react to the energy on stage in a Juno show :)

Karen Lugo and Virna worked on this routine in Barcelona, I think for a couple of days! and then came and performed it, so it was the first time I had seen it, although Karen had sent video's of the idea, which I loved.

The girls are holding a object, well this is a "fruit" - from a vegetable that is used for DMT extraction in indigenous rituals, the vegetable is *Anadenanthera peregrina* and it is largely used as an DMT source in south american tribes
My royal poinciana tree used to drop those pods full of beans, ran them over with the mower

Someone should put the inactive singer standing on the left in the middle and let her spin around while the other two women, with the swords, dance around her. Could then be declared a Döner Kebab dance.
This was her first show with us and was brilliant especially for first show… not easy coming from opera to juno, hats off to Lilliana and what a jump she made to second show

I think the orange chick actually knows how to use bladed weapons.... watch real close, could be a natural but I think she trained.

We, the English, led to the moral relocation of the eventual American Puritans. Many years later, the descendants of those people, led to the subjugation of the indigenous peoples in the area of what we call modern America. The Dakota pipeline desecrates the honour of indigenous people far more pure than our capitalist ambition. For what it is worth, I am sorry.
