Good video, I like that there's no dialogue you just watch for yourself and see how they work. Looks pretty complex but with an emphasis on comfortable seats it's a reasonable trade off.

I really like the Transit Connect it feels agile and compact compared to other vans. No contest for the cargo Van's utility but I think the Wagon's average price puts it a few grand more expensive than a Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Are you looking at the Van or Wagon?

This is what a Van Should be! Completely flat foldable seats! I wish I have had the money to have one. .

Remember, no sheet of 4 by 8 lumber fits in the Connect. This is a very frustrating vehicle to work out of. I am very pissed at myself for not getting the Transit 2500 or 3500 with a hitch and all the extras! I love the handling on my 2016 Connect. 22.9 mpg average. No complaints there either.

Hey, don't compare a transit 2500 to a little transit connect.

What are the rear interior dimensions once all 3 rows are flattened?

What's the length from back to back of front seats with all seats folded down? Does the front passenger seat fold flat also?

spent a half an hour trying to get the dang headrests up on the rear seats. Finally got one up. Really a pain to have passengers in third seat as you have to go through this folding business just to be able to get in and out. And Ford neglected to put a handle anywhere to help you climb out.

Can you just fold down the 3rd row seat?

  • @dugroz

Thanks. It appears the seats fold flat, but still stick up about 12 inches. Is it possible to get them to lay "totally flat" (ie, in floor) or simply remove the rear seats? Thanks.

What do you do if the back seats get stuck in the down position??

  • @ViralTuber

If the lost cargo space and weakened cobbled cargo platform your load will be left perched atop are acceptable to you, this solution is OK. The thick spongy floor and squandered vertical clearance are both genuine deal-breakers for me. Call me when all the cargo area seats are designed to be removable.

you can get the cargo version with out the seats

I do want the (option to use rear) seats, I just need them to be (fully) removable. ...In the end, I bought a 2015 RAM Promaster City Wagon SLT instead of the Ford Transit. as seen in TH-cam video: k9H3xMAQr_Q
The rear seats in the Promaster fold and flop way forward, leaving nearly the whole (solid!) cargo floor open and available. Even still, I plan to remove the factory bolts and take out the rear seats, and leave it that way almost all the time. (note: supposed to use new bolts for re-install)
I have nothing bad to say about the Ford Transit. But for my purposes, I just wish the rear seating options in the Ford were different.

Please tell me what youthink of the promaster? Im worried about the 9 speed trans. Also worried about Nissans CVT. So thinking Transit of the 3 (city express is nissan engine too)

    • @ViralTuber
      @ViralTuber 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

jonpaulevans I like my Promaster so far. I also felt that the Promaster's 9-speed transmission was a potential maintenance risk. Meanwhile the allure for me is how well it performs on the interstate at full speed, when gear 9 finally kicks in at around 75 MPH. I was specifically looking for that trait. Nissan CVT has known issues, and it's costly to replace, so I steered away from that.
One other nice thing Promaster has is fully independent suspension, while retaining larger capacity specs such as towing and cargo weight. Again, I'm guessing you probably can't go wrong with a Transit. I too did a lot of checking before buying, and still bought my RAM. One last thing of note is that there are deals to be had right now on the still relatively unknown Promaster, regarding new 2015 models left on dealer lots.

Stay away from Promaster. My Courier company bought a 2016 new and it's needs a new engine already at 40K miles because of oil consumption problems. A Chrysler mechanic says its a known issue but Chrysler will not issue a TSB on it to address. Get this when the oil runs low, which is almost every 3K miles, the van.....shuts off when the oil gets low! Mechanic actually said: "yeah, that's a reminder built in...when the van runs low on oil. My Driver said that it'll completely shut off on him when he's on the highway sometimes...!!! Honesty, I wouldn't.

i imagine they would. not much seems to have changed from 2014 to 2016 as far as the seats are concerned.
