Thank you, what a great video. I have been stuck not knowing what to do about the chain not fitting back on & you explained it all. Hard to know what to do sometimes without a dad, brother or husbnd to help
I have 2x 58V saws, and 2x 4Ah and 1x newish 8Ah battery. With the 8Ah battery, they go quite a long time. I never had that stopping thing from the 'cold' battery, but being is SE Qld I don't go out cutting wood or any other work unless it is around 14 degrees (retired). A super sharp chain is the must. And if that's the case, not much pressure is needed to let it do its stuff. I have cut seasoned ironbark 14 to 16" round, and it does a fab job. Yes, if I was a professional timber cutter, I have still Magnum or bigger, but for our firewood cutting or tree trimming, the best thing ever. Living away from town, no runnto the servo to get fuel. Battflat = time for a beer.
The only way to stop the chain lube coming out is to lay it on its left side not the bottom as the oiler is on the chain side obviously. In the manual AEG suggest to empty the lube tank, but it's not practical to do so.
Just a tip for those wondering about the battery life, 4ah is a bit small for doing a lot of cutting. Use the 8ah battery. I use a dual 8ah battery in the 58 volt lawnmower and can cut grass for 1 hr
This is the best most honest review of the AEG 18" e-saw. Its warts and all and has put me decidedly off buying any e-saw. I only do hardwood firewood in WA, such as Jarrah, Karri, etc.. Paying that price for only 7 minutes run time including constantly Li battery shutdowns! AEG are having a laugh with this. Then you have pay another cuppla hundred bucks for a second battery! "It's Ok for cutting branches and small greenwood"! So why would I buy an 18inch bar chainsaw for doing branches and twiggery, BTW - in 40 years of using a chainsaw I've only ever had a chain come off twice and that was because the bar was worn out. Here we have it where the chain comes off pretty often by the sound of it. I'm unimpressed, despite me being an AEG guy. I'll stick with my 20 year old petrol Stihl thank you.
Nothing will ever compare to a petrol stihl. I buy aeg for general power tools. Drill, grinder, pruning saw etc, ive picked up a grinder because i only do small cuts and cba to log a power cord out for 5 minuretes. But all traditionally petrol things, blower, mowers, chainsaws etc i use only stihl.
I dont have the battery issues, but I'm on the newer 'black top' batteries and I use 2 x 8ah. No cold battery issues, blends any hardness of wood for more than long enough until I'm tired. I have an old Stihl Farm Boss which is 'better' but I use this chainsaw because I don't like the Range Rover smelling like fuel and dealing with the stains from the consdant leaks. I store the electric cordless in the boot to clear roads and simultaneously collect free firewood. I also have a corded electric which is small, light and handy when a point is nearby. All good, all have their pros and cons.
Absolute rubbish, I have the 16" and never had problems with it, can cut anything. You seem to be struggling to use it, I assume you're not used to using tools. Absolutely no battery issues
My aeg has the exact same problems and it the machine not the man. The way around the battery cutting out is to pull the battery out of the socket and push back in again. This isn’t ideal and it’s clearly a fault which was rectified with the new battery. The train comes off too easily and it leaks oil pipe easily as well. I’ve only put up with it because I got it for free in a bundle as an extra whilst on clearance. All up I got the mower blower trimmer and chainsaw for $900 with the charger and two batteries included which was a great deal. The batteries have since failed on warranty and I’ve had them replaced by aeg as Bunnings was out of stock at the time then Bunnings got more in stock and gave me another set as well which worked out brilliantly.
Chain needs sharpening based on the fine sawdust. It should spit chips.

Thanks for taking your time to share, very helpful 👍

Can't expect battery to have the longativity of petrol powered. Super convenient when used for it's intended use.
Very well explained mate good work

Blackwood looks hard to cut
when in France ?
This guy definitely was not paid to promote AEG chainsaws
