Welcome to our Pete and Bas Plugged in W/ Fumez reaction!!! This is our latest video reaction from our new music reaction channel Beer’s & Bars. Here we listen, react, and breakdown bars while enjoying some of our favorite beers. Today we had a front seat to this amazing Pete and Bas Plugged in W/ Fumez track!! After coming back to earth from our introduction to this duo, we just blasted off once more as they came into the Fumez session and straight destroyed it! It was so moving, so powerful that it made Fumez spill his drink! This is a duo that is not to be messed with, they have the bars, the back-in-forth, the cadence and charisma to go blow for blow with anyone in this great culture! pete gives the backstory in the "making of" vid for this track, his granddaughter kept changing his car radio to the grime channel, he got bored of moving it back, started to listen and like it, and thought he would try it out. pete is the frontman and bas the spaz is the talent, he is a music teacher, plays piano and trumpet (which explains the breath control for the sick flows) and followed his father into being a bareknuckle boxer as a youngster

There's other interviews where they go into a little more detail, Pete's grandson and his friends helped them with finding their flows and learning more about the UK rap and Grime scene.

Car through the shop window relates to old gangs in the UK that did "Ram-raids" - you drive a car through the window of a shop in the middle of the night and steal the goods. Very prevalent in the 80s/90s in the UK. And Bas' car was rented (stolen) so he has no worries... haha these guys are insanely cold I love it.

I believe “Bas” is short for “Basil.” It is a name you hear every so often in the UK. If it matters to anyone.
I find it funny how every American first calls him "Bass" or "Baas" like rhyming with the UK pronunciation of "Mars". But yeah it's "Bazz", no hard feelings guys this is a wicked video, you caught almost half the rhymes and doubles which is very impressive. These bars have so many layers it's inhuman.

They've only been rapping for a few years, 5 tops... Their growth has been noticable from their first released video to this one. They continue to improve and have become quite good.
There’s a interview with fumez when they came and done this it’s on TH-cam watch it there granddaughter got them into it because she was constantly playing up rap and Petes grandson engineer/produces most of there music

Two Brit guys in their 20s decided to try creating viral content, recruited Peter Way and Basil Preuveneers, semi retired but listed with acting agencies, to perform the raps they'd written on videos. It grew and grew. In the meantime P&B have really got good at performing and I suspect they collaborate on the writing now.

These fellas pack their bars - there are doubles n triples n quads all over coz they're using years of experience and cultural knowledge with linguistcs from cockney rhyming slang, MLE (multicultural London English) which inlcudes Patois, bitsa Urdu-ish, Romany etc., and Pete even slings some Geailge Irish into this one.
Good example is Pete's 'And I don’t take shit from a man, get chucked in a van, get dashed in a dusty skip, [plenty of MLE in there, as well as outrights threats of violence!?] One side of the family’s Irish, Tiocfaidh ár lá if he’s taking the mick [Michael Bliss = piss in cockney rhyming, so taking the mick becomes taking the piss, but Mick is also racialised slang for Irish people, and the Irish he's used is the Irish freedom fighters/republicans mantra 'Our day will come')
There are a lot of old irish coal miners around here (west coast, south island, new zealand) so we sometimes say taking the mick or taking the piss. I have real trouble with irish spelling. Can you please write tiocfiadh ar la how it sounds so i can fully understand how pete is saying it

Oh now this is problematic, innit, I'm gonna get digitally crucified, but suppose being brought up catho' can handle it - I'm 'plastic paddy' half Irish, half Scottish (with a Scottish Gaelic name, fun!) but born in and have only lived in the SE of England so solely speak English (why I oughta... if there's one thing the English are good at is a bitta ethnocide eh!?) but phonetically I think, depending on where in Eire you're from, 'chucki are lar' or 'toch-thick r la' are kinda where you're heading.... now Pete is only half celt as far as I know (so somewhat ruined by some anglo... tongue in cheek, natch) and raps in a pretty thick cockney-esque accent but that might help a bit, and hopefully someone who speaks Gaeilge can correct me and better inform you.
