Can the crossfader be turned off completely in software? Because I did not see it when the video went through the mixer utilities and there is no physical switches for it.
I’m visually impaired and have been looking for a 4 channel mixer. This is the perfect one for me. The screen is huge and easy to see, plus it means I don’t need to struggle finding the specific effect knob, I can just have the ones I need in the bank. The only annoying thing is the lack of third party support but if djay manages to work on this then u don’t need to worry about that.
This just may become my next in home Studio piece. Would never take it out for events lol. Looks pretty sleek with loads of functions. Totally different approach and awesome result!!
I know the build quality is going to be better and the jog wheels Pioneer uses are lightyears ahead of everyone else, however, I would love to see a comparison video of the Denon Prime 4+ and this unit here. You'd be comparing the only two units on the market that allow four tracks on a standalone all in one, but two different price points.
When the XDJ-XZ came out it was so impressive and I thought Pioneer was only going to make them better from there. Was that the peak for a 4 Channel Standalone Unit? We'll have to see....
Yes that XDJ-XZ has four channels, but the system could only play on two. The other two could be used when hooking up additional players like a vinyl or a CDJ. So that was kind of a bummer because it was supposed to be their top tier standalone mixer. I think this Opus Quad is some nice innovation from Pioneer and I like that they look for a new design. This reminds me of stealth fighter jets. The FLX6-GT also has that nice stealth grey color with orange/blue LEDs and now this Opus Quad too. I like that. EDIT: I believe all four channels could be used using a laptop with Rekordbox (but then it is not stand-alone anymore), but I'm not sure as I do not have this product and did not do any additional research
Really on this one I do not understand the positioning of Pioneer. 3300€ for a standalone which has the advantage of offering 2 more channels, but removes the multifunction pads which are so popular and useful. To return to separate and independent buttons less quick to use. I find it hard to believe that adding 2 channel increases the price of 1000€. Why not use the rx3 concept by expanding it just a bit and adding 2 channels? You reduce research & dev costs and use the assets that everyone already loves without blowing the budget. Without me on this one, apart from the screen, this standalone looks like a step back in its proposal.
Pioneer: sorry but due to the chip shortage we're having trouble keeping our current product line in stock. Also Pioneer: we're pleased to announce a crazy expensive standalone unit that has even more tech that will make production and distribution a nightmare but pre-order now and you'll have this beautiful bit of kit in less than a year after release 😂.
There should be a MASSIVE ARTWORK mode so you can dig thru "record sleves" on the massive screen. Would be great. And it should create Very large text for art it hasnt got.
I don’t get why Pioneer DJ dosen‘t give us paying customers what we want.. DJ‘s only want XZ2 and DDJ 1000 mk2. Instead we got this.. we want the Standard Club Layout, not the Touchscreen Focus thing. ALL I WANT IS XZ2 😭
Isn’t that kinda obvious why an XZ2 probably isn’t gonna happen any time soon? With the new 3000s and the A9, a stand-alone unit that offers (almost) identical features but for a lower price tag would just cannibalize Pioneers own top-of-the-line products.
Facts, but I bet they don't want to release new versions of the stuff we actually want because they know they can't meet production expectations. Much easier to manufacture a product for a small demographic than for the majority. I find it hilarious that they can't keep old products in stock but will still release something new.
This seems to be their most premium option for DJ Controllers. I really like some of the new features and additions but I wish it had a similar club layout. Hopefully they propagate some of these to other models like a new DDJ-1000 or XDJ-XZ.
I don't know. It just looks unfinished. And why have they removed the dottes and lines, I've found them very useful... Same for the interaction, why is everything controlled through the touchscreen, when I've got sweaty hands and maybe had 1-3 beers I want knobs not a little flimsy touch screen... And to be honest, the layout isnt that good ether, I thought the Xz should mimic a Cdj Set up. Now what's this a Prime 4 set-up🤷🏼♂️ I think the Rx3 is now a much much better deal... From the layout to the design everybody can use it. For this on the other hand you'll need an introduction😂 Ps: does somebody know what's going on with pioneers name structure. Djm900nxs2 --> Djm a9 / Cdj2000nxs2 --> cdj3000/ xdj Xz --> some complicated Name 😂
The one thing I am recently disliking about pioneer dj is the fact they remove the little markers on the knobs. Tiny little thing but causes a bit of a problem
Dear Pioneer, Thank you Denon for doing the research and showing the way by making the Prime 4 3 years ago. I just need to do a little more tweaks and add a few of our legacy. Then price is twice as the controller I emulated. I don’t need to use the “Club Standard” as an excuse anymore. Now let me see if our loyal Pioneerians get suckered into buying this. In the meantime, let me research on how to copy Serato’s and VDJ’s stems technology. Your truly, Pioneer
Absolutely ridiculous pricing. And yet it lacks the essentials like a SD slot, proper jog displays, proper performance pads, slip mode, master EQ, still no analysis or proper streaming at launch, this is embarrassing. Paris Hilton DJs, rejoice. You gonna love the fancy gold, haha. Thanks but I stick with my workhorse Prime 4.
Duh all your essentials are not that essential. Who’s use SD card nowadays? If you using the CDJ you know that there isn’t performance pad and now they just mimics it’s like the CDJ 3000, you don’t need the jog display when you got the WHOLE NEW SCREEN for that. Sure slip mode missing is weird, master eq is missing and they still not include track analysis onboard which sure suck but just wanted to say that most of the “essential” you mentioned is not even that important
@@d_m1nhh I am using SD card, if you want to know... It is just inserted in a gear and I am having there full music collection there... See, they put so much efforts to create neat clean design and then they force you to crash it by putting some stick or connect cable with your SDD to it... ?!?!
Price = £2900. A little too much but good review. At this price why not buy; 1. *RANE 70* Battle DJ & Scratch Mixer .Price = £1499 2. *RANE 12 Mk2 Turntable* £739 each, x2 = £1478 Total price = £2977. (Just £77 more) I do miss the days when there was a cap on the price DJs had to pay for professional club equipment (x2 Technics 1210s (£350 each) and a Technics DMC 2 channel scratch mixer) and the rest was all down to your turntable skills and vinyl collection. This equipment had great resale value too. If you decided to quit or take a break there was never a shortage of people happy to buy your equipment for near to what you paid for it. Not sure how easy it would be for you to get anywhere near £2900 for the Opus-quad if you decided to quit after 3 -5 years. Who else can afford it and would trust spending that much money on something 2nd hand from a stranger? ....but anyway..... Just my thoughts. I welcome any comments and alternate perspectives.
I think that this piece of gear is just like the BMW M3 Competition: At first, I despised the design, but after seeing those reviews, all the features it packs, and the fact that each deck slowly morphs into a CDJ-3000 with the hot cues and the display, I started to like this. In fact, I would buy this instead of the XZ, and equally appreciate this and the clearly-upcoming XZ MK2. It is essentially a full 10000 euros 4 CDJ + DJM setup in a package that's like 3 times less the cost. Really considering buying one of these in the near future. With this and the FLX4, Pioneer really smashed the competition. Kudos to you Crossfader, aswell, for the awesome reviews! Edit: The only thing missing is Slip, but, as you said, they could add it through a firmware update on the screen. Edit 2: And the Magvel fader, but oh well, that's that.
When i bought my M3 i did not have to take it back or return it to BMW the first week of purchase at least Opus quad is not meant for performance, it's meant for looks You want that you go with the XDJ ZX
Large screen, 4channel it's definitely a response to the Denon P4 and no doubt will be a great bit of kit. I think the jogs are oversized for just mixing and makes the unit a bit big.. I have a P4 and it's already a large footprint. Looking forward to getting a play on this to see Pioneers take on a standalone 4 channel package and what they offer for that extra cost. Initially not a fan of the screens either side, just more distractions. I choose the Prime 4 as I wanted away from the laptop and the one screen has everything needed. Can't wait ot get a play on it 🤟
Hello Klaus, I follow your channel. I'm pretty sure you understand this. 🎧All I can say about this new "beautiful" boxy mixer with plenty of space and not enough faders so you can prioritize a fader with your own effects, rather than relying on a knob to select an effect and touch the screen to do it for you. When you are performing, you need time, you need extra hands, you need buttons to be closer, not in a row Now you buy new equipment and only learn or use 10% of it until the next one, it's not practical for you the dj One thing industries are doing now. The more crap they make, the more money they make with you. Next, you can't rely on drop box or any cloud music stuff. No for performing or events. You need your laptop or your drive... and bring your own music or edits
I love the autoloop knob, it just makes so much more sense. Not a fan of the looks though. Hopefully we can get some of these features like the loop knob on other upcoming products.
Same bro😂 But I'm still stoked about my RX3. I'm not totally sold on Pioneer's drastic facelift on their latest controller drops. I'm sure they'll grow on me though. I hope they stay true to their roots for future CDJ and DJM releases.
Does it mix properly with master tempo switched on though? Do loops finally get quantised properly by the unit? Both these things are terrible on a lot of RX & XZ units. It's all well and good looking pretty and portable, but does it actually work properly. Thanks for the review here though.
I really dig the look, there is nothing out there like this in terms of looks 🔥so lets stop the cap, but it still doesnt compete with the prime 4, its not even close and at 1000$ more expensive i just see it as a luxury
It looks superb. Huge improvement and now firmware can update new features what’s not to like. Ergonomics are beautiful by the looks of things. I love my XZ and not looking to change but if and when I feel the requirement to do so I would definitely upgrade to this👍
Keep your XDJ-XZ. I have Numark NV, NV2, DDJ 1000 and DDJSZ 👉NV or NV2... I have a bunch of faders and buttons to prioritize my own effects and update whenever I want with new effects and do more than the new gear. You can't rely on drop box or any cloud stuff. No for performing or events. You need your laptop or your drive...
@Crossfader Thanks for the video! I was wondering, as I haven't found any videos covering it, if the Opus Quad allows you to isolate frequencies on the beat FX in the same way the DJM900 NXS2 and DJM 19 do. I found that I almost always toggle off the low end, leaving the effect to work on only the mid and hi frequencies. I understand there's a new X-Y pad for filtering in addition to applying an effect, but this is not the same as what I describe above. Any help / info on this would be great.
Denon DJ Prime 4 remains King of the Standalone Mixers. Three main reasons: 1. Lack of Performance Pads 2. Hot Cues are forward of the platters meaning that a palm touch could ruin your mix. 3. Lack of Streaming Services. At nearly twice the price of a Denon DJ Prime 4, there is no excuse for these missing features.
Prime 4+ knocks them all out of the park or water, whatever you prefer But those with money and no care buys whatever they want. I prefer to get performance dirt cheap!
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - Denon is finally the leader, it's obvious because with this mixer, it's clear Pioneer like what Denon did and are now forced to follow and copy...Can only be good for all us DJ's...
Thanks Jamie. Great review and a compelling new standalone! At 11:20 ..Denon already offers all of this on their Primes, and has XLR Zone Out, an excellent 2-band EQ on the Booth out (!). Bought a MINT Prime 4 for $650, too good a deal to pass up, yeah, the FX SUCK, but the audio interface is remarkable. I've been DJ'ing since 1984 and to my ears, as much as I LOVE Pioneer.. the Denon's sound quality is unsurpassed. They just need to sort out their software & FX. It's like their hardware team is A+ but their design and software team is C-level. But yessss! This looks completely new. Can't wait to demo this. Not crazy about the line fader and EQ architecture (seems crunched together to accomodate the screen), but yes, looks amazing w 3 displays. Undecided on the "Curve"

Hi Jamie. Thanx for the video. Soundcard the same as DJM-A9 mixer? Does the unit have a record function and if so - would you see it as a capable tool to digitize vinyl by just plugging in the SL1200 in one of the inputs. Is the phono output quality decent?
Is it possible to change the colors of the level meter back to the standard green, orange, and red? Not a fan of the future-classic lighting they’re tryna pull off on this and the v10
I still love my 8 pads (specially when I want to drop my own custom effects) and a bigger jog wheels. If these were in there it would’ve been insane. But I like it though
CDJ? CDs have not been around for over two decades m8, To use the CDJ label still show where Pioneer stands in their confidence department. CDJ = Computer Dj, maybe
All that money and no magvell fader? And I don't like their new orange light theme on the newer controller's . And they have removed the pitch speed markers/ lines , so manual beatmaching will be harder to do if you ride the pitch to match the beats.😩
I can't find a few things 1.Effect bpm 'auto and manual' (it turns auto mode only while turning switch on again) 2.'Slip mode' for fake vinyl brake or hotcue play If you know this please reply
17:44 If they got rid of the beatgrid markers for 4 deck view, you could then have enough display space for 4 horizontal waveforms. Also, it would be nice to have vertical waveforms with an option to touch loop each waveform on the screen based on default settings. Also, to display at least 16 bars in the vertical waveforms to visual mixes easier.
Good overview - looks awesome. Are the two smaller screens customisable in any way, in terms of the info. they show or how large the waveforms are etc?

Impressed to see how your hair has changed and also finally pioneer operating system progressed..makes a big difference to old xdj-xz software.., although the layout feels like more for home use -the loop buttons dont fit to cdj layout ... i dont care about the effects... my verdict: your hair looks superb mate 👍
Can the crossfader be turned off completely in software? Because I did not see it when the video went through the mixer utilities and there is no physical switches for it.
Yes it can be set to THRU mode via the input selector on the touch screen.
@@Crossfader thank you!
Totally different approach and awesome result!!
right you are, a really nice looking furniture for a displaycase or as a letterpress
Just bought mine this morning!!!
When the XDJ-XZ came out it was so impressive and I thought Pioneer was only going to make them better from there. Was that the peak for a 4 Channel Standalone Unit? We'll have to see....
The XZ was only a 2 channel controller.
The Opus Quad is their first 4 channel controller.
I can buy 3x DDJ 1000 and play back2back2back
Really on this one I do not understand the positioning of Pioneer.
😂
The store of my country had a few in stock on release
RIGHT!!!!????? such bs. All about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
That fact alone makes me hate pioneer
@@genemc777 Ya right? Started lookin at Dennon DJ stuff myself.
Exactly smfh
exactly
Not all djs want the antiquated computer dependent models you still seem to like.
I just used this this past weekend, what an incredible piece of kit!
This seems to be their most premium option for DJ Controllers. I really like some of the new features and additions but I wish it had a similar club layout. Hopefully they propagate some of these to other models like a new DDJ-1000 or XDJ-XZ.
Doesnt it seem like this will replace the XDJ-XZ entirely?
@@soluniverse8 no
yeah after looking it over more it seems they can add many more professional features to it but this is a good start.. time will tell.
At the end of the day what does premium mean if the product breaks down prematurely, even if you got it swapped out one time already
Now what's this a Prime 4 set-up🤷🏼♂️
I think the Rx3 is now a much much better deal... From the layout to the design everybody can use it. For this on the other hand you'll need an introduction😂
Ps: does somebody know what's going on with pioneers name structure. Djm900nxs2 --> Djm a9 / Cdj2000nxs2 --> cdj3000/ xdj Xz --> some complicated Name 😂
+1
Also what If I want to use 2 features which both are located on the touch screen? Then Im f'ed
They do make some beautiful looking controllers now thanks for showing it off.
The one thing I am recently disliking about pioneer dj is the fact they remove the little markers on the knobs. Tiny little thing but causes a bit of a problem
Are you referring to the EQ knobs? Not sure what you mean
@@biffinbome yes the markers on the eq knobs
@@jacklamonte8873 I see what you mean, the dots around the knob? I like those too, odd thing to remove
@@biffinbome yeah fr especially with the trim knobs kinda hard to make them equal on both channels
Dear Pioneer,
Thank you Denon for doing the research and showing the way by making the Prime 4 3 years ago.
Your truly,
Pioneer
Prime 4+
Absolutely ridiculous pricing. And yet it lacks the essentials like a SD slot, proper jog displays, proper performance pads, slip mode, master EQ, still no analysis or proper streaming at launch, this is embarrassing. Paris Hilton DJs, rejoice. You gonna love the fancy gold, haha. Thanks but I stick with my workhorse Prime 4.
No analysis? damn that sucks big time actually, pioneer really need to step up
@@djlofid They plan to add it "later". Not like they had years of time for that, but ok...
I love how all the features you called essential, are not essential at all)))
Duh all your essentials are not that essential.
Do all onboard fx work on external sources ?
The denon probe doesn’t and that’s a big letdown
Why does it look cheaper??
saw it in person and it feels so cheap too, like a toy
Price = £2900. A little too much but good review. At this price why not buy;
1. *RANE 70* Battle DJ & Scratch Mixer .Price = £1499
2. *RANE 12 Mk2 Turntable* £739 each, x2 = £1478
Total price = £2977.
(Just £77 more)
I do miss the days when there was a cap on the price DJs had to pay for professional club equipment (x2 Technics 1210s (£350 each) and a Technics DMC 2 channel scratch mixer) and the rest was all down to your turntable skills and vinyl collection.
This dj controller is the coolest I've seen🔥🔥🔥
But, too expensive too buy😂
Isn't the XDJ-XZ a 4 channel standalone? What am I missing here?
Yeah not sure why he opened with that comment
Because you need external vinyl players, or cdj-s to acces the 3rd and 4th channel on the XZ.
@@matyasstraub5288 So it's basically just the software holding the XZ back?
Yeah,thougth the same
@@matyasstraub5288 and a laptop too. Which is why everyone that owns one considers it to be 4 channels I guess. It's why I do hahaha
Hi can anyone tell is the update for this control available with Serato dj compatility that supposed to be coming this summer 2023?
Great review guys 🙌🏼!
When i bought my M3 i did not have to take it back or return it to BMW the first week of purchase at least
Opus quad is not meant for performance, it's meant for looks
You want that you go with the XDJ ZX
Large screen, 4channel it's definitely a response to the Denon P4 and no doubt will be a great bit of kit. I think the jogs are oversized for just mixing and makes the unit a bit big.. I have a P4 and it's already a large footprint. Looking forward to getting a play on this to see Pioneers take on a standalone 4 channel package and what they offer for that extra cost. Initially not a fan of the screens either side, just more distractions. I choose the Prime 4 as I wanted away from the laptop and the one screen has everything needed. Can't wait ot get a play on it 🤟
Moving info out of the jogwheel display, where it's often covered by your hands, and onto a new screen, certainly seems like a good idea
Yeah and people complain that they did not get the display on jog wheel
I think they could of gave the jog display a better screen. Why not put a actual led screen on it also? Especially for 3100 dollars.
When you are performing, you need time, you need extra hands, you need buttons to be closer, not in a row
Now you buy new equipment and only learn or use 10% of it until the next one, it's not practical for you the dj
One thing industries are doing now.

Come on Pioneer! I literally just bought the XDJ RX3 before the holidays and now you come out with this beast of a controller!! I want my money back 😭
Whats wrong with the rx3? Apart from having smaller jogs and 2 channels?
Same bro😂 But I'm still stoked about my RX3. I'm not totally sold on Pioneer's drastic facelift on their latest controller drops. I'm sure they'll grow on me though. I hope they stay true to their roots for future CDJ and DJM releases.
Mate. .. just bought an Rx3 literally 12 hrs before the release of this🤣 anyway is out of my price range
April fools day is early this year!
This looks absolutely sensational I can't lie 😍
Does it mix properly with master tempo switched on though? Do loops finally get quantised properly by the unit? Both these things are terrible on a lot of RX & XZ units. It's all well and good looking pretty and portable, but does it actually work properly. Thanks for the review here though.
To get familiar with the CDJ-3000, what is the best choice I have? To buy the DDj-1000 or this new OPUS-QUAD? Thanks!
Out of these two choices the DDJ 1000. Otherwise it depends on why you need to get familiar with the CDJ-3000.
Thinking this be my next set up . This has so much to give . Love the real classy smooth design and feels great to use very good kit
I really dig the look, there is nothing out there like this in terms of looks 🔥so lets stop the cap, but it still doesnt compete with the prime 4, its not even close and at 1000$ more expensive i just see it as a luxury
Yep, beautiful but Denon still miles ahead.
It looks superb. Huge improvement and now firmware can update new features what’s not to like. Ergonomics are beautiful by the looks of things. I love my XZ and not looking to change but if and when I feel the requirement to do so I would definitely upgrade to this👍

Prime 4+ knocks them all out of the park or water, whatever you prefer
But those with money and no care buys whatever they want. I prefer to get performance dirt cheap!
Performance pads are missing?!?
What about SLIP-mode? Possible through the touch screen?
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - Denon is finally the leader, it's obvious because with this mixer, it's clear Pioneer like what Denon did and are now forced to follow and copy...Can only be good for all us DJ's...
In love with this thing! ❤️🥵✨

2.'Slip mode' for fake vinyl brake or hotcue play
If you know this please reply
When will they add streaming services tidal and the others?
17:44 If they got rid of the beatgrid markers for 4 deck view, you could then have enough display space for 4 horizontal waveforms.
Also, it would be nice to have vertical waveforms with an option to touch loop each waveform on the screen based on default settings. Also, to display at least 16 bars in the vertical waveforms to visual mixes easier.
Looks pretty good, not a big fan of the touch to select the channel for effects tho.
Good overview - looks awesome. Are the two smaller screens customisable in any way, in terms of the info. they show or how large the waveforms are etc?
