Growing bamboo is actually illegal in a lot of places in the US, due to its severely invasive nature. Either by city law or state law. I looked into it several years ago bc I wanted to build a Zen garden and wanted bamboo planted around it.

Apparently it's allowed in Texas. I'm guessing it's something with the natural environment so that while it does spread, it doesn't get too out of hand, or risk germinating outside of Texas? Maybe?

My aunt shared a story similar to that when her 2nd husband and her were on their honeymoon holiday touring Europe back in the 90s with a well known tour company named after a square in London. The tour guide kept bad mouthing the passengers to the driver, thinking that no one on board could understand Dutch because they were mostly Asians and Australians. Well, my uncle was born and raised in Flemish Belgium and could understand Dutch fully and right as they were changing over to another tour guide and driver for the next leg he went off at them in Dutch, then told all the passengers in English what they had said about them.
Least to say the other tour guide and driver werent happy about it either, and helped passengers file the necessary paperwork to complain. Turned out that there had been complaints about the two in the past, however because nothing specific could be pointed out on being said about the passengers, just that they kept talking in Dutch when no one could understand them, then the union was protecting them. However, the tour guide taking over just happened to be their union rep and after being told exactly what they had been saying about their passengers pretty much nailed their coffins shut.
My aunt and uncle went on to complete their tour and a week after they returned to Australia got a letter of apology from the higher ups of the tour company along with a complete refund and vouchers for their next holiday. They also found out that the tour guide and driver had both been sacked the next day when the tour guide had faxed the complaints through with their own recommendation that they fire them and the union wouldnt protect.

The credit thief story: I went through something similar. Back in my early days in the independent film community I got mixed up with someone who tried to steal my writing. There was this washed-up actress who was trying to transition to writing and producing but didn't really have the skills for it. Her spelling was atrocious and it was apparent, to anyone who'll listen to her run her mouth for more than a few minutes, that the only thing she ever wrote was a bad check or a social media post. She tried to take credit for a feature-length original screenplay I had already written and copyrighted long before I met her. For those who don't know, that constitutes theft of intellectual property. Being completely ignorant of the law and having no respect for boundaries, she went for the daily double: she altered my story in hopes of nabbing the leading role when it went into production. Being a technically illiterate moron, she was completely unaware that my name was still on the title page and didn't know how to remove it. To make an already long story much shorter, she was outed as a lying grifter with zero skills and even less talent. It should come as no surprise whatsoever I wasn't the first person she had done this too. She burned a lot of bridges with her unprincipled, unethical, immoral and downright illegal business practices. Last I heard, she's now a completely unemployable pariah. Karma's a bitch.

First Story: Well that is one way to end a date lmao. Not going to lie, I thought this guy was going to do horrible things to OP because I found it weird that he was so insistent on OP to continue to drink more and more. I honestly felt like he was trying to get OP black out drunk just so he can possibly do some questionable things. He deserved to get throw up all over his car and it could've been avoided if he would've taken no for an answer
Second Story: This is why u should never judge a book by its cover, they might be able to understand every word u are saying about them. The bride's mom really thought she can talk trash about OP because she assumed OP didn't know what she was saying. I honestly would've loved to see that mom's face after OP started talking to her in Spanish
Comment: Lmao that is hilarious and I bet the commenter made that girl's day
Third Story: That all could've been avoided if he just pointed the light somewhere else; now he has to deal with a lot of bamboo lol. I bet that forest looks great though
Fourth Story: It was either tell the parents or get the cars towed. It was a good thing the parents are actually responsible adults and didn't let what their son and his friends are doing slide. They have to learn somehow and well I guess they got the easier way
Fifth Story: Good ol' fashioned nepotism. Anyway, I wonder how she thought she would get away with this when she ain't even in the same department as OP. Good thing OP called her out right in front of the boss of bosses
Sixth Story: U know someone is trying to get some kind of treatment when they say "I know ur boss and they would do xyz" like how this guy was trying to pull something with OP and it failed miserably.
Comment: Thats a great way to call someone out on their bs. How can u personally know someone but can't pronounce their name correctly? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

When the tv show _The Spanish Princess_ came out, there was actually a small uproar because they cast a light-skinned, red-haired woman as Catherine of Aragon.
They argued that obviously Catherine of Aragon must’ve been dark haired and had tan or olive skin since she was Spanish.
Apparently none of them looked at any of the several portraits that still exist of Catherine, or else they would see that she (as well as all 3 of her sisters and her brother) had very light skin, light colored eyes (probably blue), and red hair.

She even called him at 5am to scream at him, the day I was meant to have emergency surgery. When I was crying from pain and exhaustion (this only happened once when I woke up to her screeches at 5am, I tried to be quiet and respectful of other patients around me), she said "Stop crying, you crazy bitch" in Spanish. Story 3: the neighbour's house now has a bamboo dome... I'm curious what it would look like?
Story 4: op went the civil route rather than just calling the tow truck... seems like the parental guardian wasn't aware the kid was misbehaving badly behind their back

Bamboo is an INSANE plant, not only does it spread fast, but it has a LOT of uses, you can use it as a pot (yes it resilient enough to stand fire, so you can cook stuff), you can make lightbulbs with it, houses, tools, traps (the famous pits full of spears, you can use Bamboo sticks/spears instead) and the list goes on, also, you can eat their sprouts (as a matter of fact, back on ancient times, on what is China today, the wild chicken's populations were coordinated with the times Bamboo sprouted and ancient humans noticed this and started constantly feeding those wild chickens for easy food)

My Nana’s name was Joanne, and originally her mama spelled it as Joan. She had a teacher that refused to pronounce her name as Joanne and my Nana was so mad, she just refused to speak to her.
The day she turned 18, Nana got her name changed to the spelling above. Her mama was so bent out of shape, because there was a superstition that if you change a child’s name before they were 21, they would die.
That superstition ended up with 2 of my Uncles being named James due to a birth certificate error. One uncle was meant to be Jesse. Since they both entered the military as James, they didn’t get it fixed. We called them Uncle Bud and Uncle Bowser. This was waaaay before Mario in case anyone was wondering lol

The bamboo plan sounds freaking amazing. However as a plant and environmental enthusiast I’m gonna have to say if you live near a land with a forest, try to plant a more native fast growing plant in the area. Other than that, fast growing plants and weeds for the win!
Bamboo is part of the grass family and golden bamboo is one of the fastest growing grass/weeds not native to Texas but grows well in the humid environment. Want a native fast growing and beautiful tree? Plant a green verde or a Museum tree! Grows likes crazy and is beautiful and evergreen year round! And it’s naturally established in the state of Texas! Have a good one everyone! :)

I had an incident re entitled people speaking another language. I'm Latino but look very Caucasian, and I can understand and speak Spanish very well.
Anyways, I was working the customer service counter wrapping gifts for the holiday season. I had this one Latino family come and request, in English, to have their purchases gift-wrapped.
I started doing the wrapping and midway through they speak Spanish and they are obviously talking about me, with insults, saying how Im so slow in wrapping gifts, its pathetic, etc.
I take this all in, remain stone-faced as I finish wrapping their gifts.
Once I finished I bagged up the packages and gave it to them, and smiling, ever so sickly-sweet say, in perfect Spanish, "here are your gifts, all wrapped up. I hope you have a Merry Christmas."
The looks on their faces were priceless. They silently collected their belongings and proceeded to walk out the store. As they were leaving I follow them out, and in Spanish say "I hope you have a wonderful New Year!"
They didn't look back as they rushed out of there.
As I turned around and went back to my post. The other people waiting in line overheard the conversation and applauded me for "killing them with kindness."
Hope Rslash will put this story up one day.

Bamboo is a severely invasive species and over time can destroy yards, pipes, and foundations. It's also hard to kill, because the root structure can go down several feet below where most root killer will reach. Several states outlaw bamboo for this precise reason.

I remember when my department, meaning my colleague and me prepared a proposal for a project that would be giving in revenue 3 million dollars a year. Our stupid supervisor decided that it was a good idea to tell the other department about it since they would be impacted, but we said that it wasn't a good idea since it was just proposal and it hasn't been approved, it could get stolen, but he didn't listen and invited the manager and both supervisors to a meeting with us. Well we ain't stupid and hatch a plan and we give the presentation with all the failure ideas instead of the real one and vaguely answer the questions. We did a great speech about all the revenue it would bring. We saw how both supervisors and the manager look when we finished so we told our supervisor he needs to submit the proyect before anyone could try to submit a similar one and he brush us off. Well a month passed and the stupid supervisor of us told us to talk to production because they submitted the plan for us in their namevand were approved. I was livid and went to the manager to talk about ownership and to add us to the project because it was our project not theirs and he said very slowly to me as if I was stupid, it's my project now and you and your department has nothing to do with us., you will not be included or metion in this project. Then I smile while grinning at him told him ok, it's your project now, remember I am too an engineer even if my position is not as one so good luck with the ideas you submitted hope they are good ones, remember it's your project now and your responsibility, not going to help you now or ever with it, have a good day then I left. 6 month in they started the trial period and it was the most epic disaster I had ever saw in that plant, they lost so much money it was laughable, plus they incurred in a lot of sanctions and heavy fines that he was literally breaking inside, it was so bad the project was not continued afterwards. He begged for us to help figure things out but we refused. Told him it is his plan not ours and his responsibility as the manager of that plant, I'm just a simple auditor with no real power or knowledge to help him out as he told me so many times. The thing is that the idea I sold them as so great that day, because we knew what to expect from them, was the worst one and was given by my college that has no knowledge of engineering, chemistry or anything of the sort. The little reputation he had he lost, not to mention the position he was in, that was was given by his dad and not even his dad had the power to save him from that fiasco, was taken away. He was planning a transfer but it was denied because the situation he was in, was really, really bad, he got dismissed to find better opportunities elsewhere. I am really good as a person but don't try to walk over me or over my friends . Like we said here in Spanish: del agua mansa libreme Dios que de la brava me libro yo. Like : May God protects me from wolf's in sheep's clothes. After that one the supervisor was adamant to get me out cause he knew, but that is another story.

We thought about installing a privacy fence but its too costly & there are two big trees in the way. So bamboo it is! All the way down between our two houses. The car type and pushyness, is something a lot of us girls deal with when US boys come over to our side and it’s not uncommon for them to spike drinks because once they’re done, they can just dip back over and never get caught. It happened to me and I managed to get home before it hit so I got lucky. But yeah, what OP went through? That’s the kinda shenanigans you’re gonna get going to Ceasars with someone who can’t drink stateside is gonna be like.

I’m just talking about the creepy ones who unfortunately have become a stereotype and OP just so happened to go in a full fledged date with them.
