Very nice build. Love the new player focus. We need more content like this since GW2 can be confusing for new players. Especially if they use the lvl 80 booster. In the future I recommend telling the players where thy can get the appropriate gear. Since this can be rather expensive if you don't have the knowledge. Think "Devona" vs "Berserker" armor.
I just started playing GW2 about a month ago and I've tried others and experimented with a build for my Guardian, after watching this video I built it exactly as suggested and making a slight adjustment here and there I found it more comfortable to use then my previous builds. Thank you and I look forward to seeing more of what you have to share.
Thank you very much for this guide! I was actually feeling pretty stuck with GW2 and was ready to walk away entirely when I came upon your guide. I've actually been able to get into HoT now and it's been such a breath of fresh air! Keep up the great work!
Hey I'm a returning player with a level 60 Guardian and this really helped me get back into the game and enjoy combat without dying all the time...thanks 🙂
THANK YOU !!!! You safed my guardian. I was about to delete him, because even if he had heavy armor he was a not able to really defeat even more then two normal mobs. I didn't realized how big the difference between the armour sets are. Now i run full cleric and have REALLY fun with him. He can heal incredible good and is more tanky then before. This video gives you wonderful ideas. I can even run now sword/shield or scepter/focus and have a lot of fun and stay alive. Please keep up the good work.
I don't know why but I always felt more comfort playing Condi Guardian, using Sword/Focus and Mace/Shield, it felt super EZ mode not because of the damage but since I was constantly doing damage with all the healing and block from Regen and Aegis I simply survived and the enemies died. I think someday I will try a power build for the Guardian
I used sword/mace shield build for PVE to lvl80, then switched to sword/shield and Longbow DragonHunter. I found the Mace/Sword and Shield was very well balanced for PVE survivability(berzerker). My DragonHunter I am progressing from Exotic to Ascended and going more on the offensive in world events and about 1/2 way though Path of Fire. I do find the missions for PoF somewhat difficult though..but general open world and events are very manageable as a soloist.
This as been an amazingly helpful video. You explain everything making it way easy to understand. Thank you for this. I just came back to GW2 I am in the base game atm wondering what to do. Then I found your video. Thank you it is super helpful for a newbie like me.
I always used pvt for gear on my guard, did a shout build with runes to match for extra condition removal. Found it made doing pve alot easier, specially 90 something fractals lol. Gear was easier to get back then with temple armor. Which now gear is even easier to get in more preferable stat combos. I still use the signet heal most of the time, just more reliable for me lol
Hi Kroof! I saw a recommend the other day for Head/Chest/Legs Soldier, and Shoulders/Gloves/Boots Cleric. I equip Mace/Shield primarily, and I took your Basic Trait lines, and get 7~8 Might Stacks when I use "Save Yourselves" and F2, and more when I block with Shield. Armor is over 3500, Took Honor instead of Zeal, because I can't overlook 3k Health that I gain from it. Power is over only 1633, enhanced from might and Food to over 1900, but I can't seem to lift Healing Power, Condition Damage above 610. It probably won't be until I have Ascended Trinkets instead of Exotic Rings/Earrings/Amulet -- All of which are Celestial currently. So the problem I run into is if I remove the Celestial Accessories, I lose a significant boost in other things, like Precision, Ferocity and Boon Duration.
Am definitely going to try this build as I have struggled with others and the rotation. One thing I couldnt figure out was when you switch to hammer. It appears that you normally stay on mace/shield, but on second giant you switched to hammer. Can you explain why?
Extra brownie points for using hammer of all things. Been playing Firebrand in open world (non meta build) but I really dislike the weapons... Running full celestial exotics set. Going to try this out. Might swap the mace for scepter.
For players with the expansions, which Elite Spec would this sync the best with? The mechanics change and bit and one trait line would have to get swapped out. But the mace/shield with hammer is a nice mix for solo play.
hey sorry I'm new to this game so I'm really want to know peoples perspective on the hammer cause others recommend great sword so which is better? thank you
I think I broke it this time... Cleric On Chest/Legs/Shoulders, Soldier's everywhere else, and I have just shy of 1800, can always give myself at least 5 might stacks, and have 3500+ armor, 21,200 Health, and over 750 Healing Power, BEFORE Spicy Chocolate Cookies that give 100 Healing Power and 70 Precision for Critical Chance. Want more power, eat Fire Flank Steak and use Magnanimous Sharpening Stone.
If you have any good tips for solo Elementalist survivablity/Advanced techniques that would be good. I have had no issues with Necro or Mesmer survivability, but my Elementalist dies constantly. Seems like when I try to swap elements to try and heal or go defensive, it just prolongs the fight a bit and my damage output drops.
Fire/Earth Condi trailblazer weaver, with sword/focus. You have a LOT, and I mean a LOT of burning output, good cleanse from auras and Fire, some blocks and some evades. You have to combo your fields to do well, ime.
I am a F2P player new, just got it on my new laptop... I was introduced to GW in 2012, well i was broke as f back then and i can't afford it. Now i can 31 years old man try to buy back my dreams back then😂. I have questions, i want to buy the expansion (steam version) do i still get the log in bonus and other stuff? Secondly, i really like a paladin healer templar style.... Do guardian the correct class for that?
So the question now is how to get this gear. I am new to GW2 and fairly new to 80. I have not started crafting. Are you crafting this gear or auction house or just getting lucky with drops?
Hello dear, I am super newbie with the game, tried it in the past but I gave up because I saw comments saying that ppl without expansions are kinda left behind, but I decided to try once again even if I'm not getting the expansions yet. Is this build still good? And does it require any expansion? Thank you a lot!
This build does not require any expansion stuff! There is plenty to do if you are a free player. They are even implementing Season 1 of the Living World for all free players! And, at the end of Season 1, they are going to be adding a free Strike Mission for everyone. o7
@@KROOF what do u mean by season 1? Like.. first expansion for free for everyone? Or some bunch of quests u could not acces without expansions? Sowwy Im just really newbie xD
When you make a "levelling" build, why is your character level 80? My guardian is level 20, and I have no idea what I'm doing. This video really didn't help :( How is this for beginners? I don't have access to those armor sets, or half the skills this video talks about.
@@KROOF I found this video when searching for "Guardian levelling build". I've been playing for a week, and I was hoping to learn how to die a bit less.
@@Richard-ug4el I mean you can still take elements of this build as you continue to level. The reason why people don't often make leveling builds is that you don't get your entire build until like level 71 (even then you have 9 levels to go.) Thanks TH-cam algorithm, though!
@@KROOF Most of the stuff you were talking about pretty much went over my head. Like I said, I've got a couple of weeks in GW2 now, so I'm still facing a pretty steep learning curve. But I think Guardian is going to be my main, so I'm just trying to figure out how best to play that character. I'm getting there :)

Some playstyles just fit others better UwU
I like running Purging Flames and Sanctuary, both are consecrations, and if you use Master of Consecrations, you get more pulses for them.
THANKKS ALOOOOTT for core game build, rare to find. Happy Holiday

Hope this may come in handy! ^w^
Olá, gostei muito dessa construção do personagem, vou estar testando ela para ver se ainda é funcional nos dias de hoje, obrigado pelo video.
Merci pour cette vidéo explicative sur le gardien débutant
If you have any Beginner-Build- Ideas for Ele or Engineer those would be very appreciated bc new players often struggle with those 2.

Nice.
Ooops, "beginner" has a completly other ring to me. Just started a guardian ... *looking somewhere else*
Does this work when playing the elite specializations?
Nice build, but watching you take those giant stomps on the chin instead of dodging with a well-timed roll was painful
