I got to play D&D with A.R. I bet he has some fun voices in his audio book! "I read ACOTAR" LOL. I felt similar to you. It was fun, but nothing fantastic.
Look at you rocking it this month!! I swear ACOTAR has a drug in those pages, it's so inexplicably addictive hahaha. Hope you give book 2 a shot, it's definitely a step up. Popcorn reads for the win! Also, yeeess the octopus is such a gem, I loved him! It took me a while to really settle into that story, but I adored how it came together in the end, so moving 🤩I think you should also check out The Measure by Nikki Erlick, that had a similar impact on me! And I had a similar reaction to Black Jack as you did, but then I loved his new release The Crimes of Rooker Flynn, would def recommend that even if the tone of this first one wasn't entirely your jam. Happy reading and enjoy the rest of the readathon fun! 🥰
Funny, Jack London is one of my authors 😄sorry Call of the Wild didn’t knock your socks off but he has quite the bibliography so I am sure there is a novel or story of his you will like. I have The Way of Kings audiobook on hold through Libby. Probably will take a while so I’ll have probably read in November when I’m doing my program abroad. Haven’t read much Sanderson but am more than willing to give him a try. I was listening to this wonderful ambient music channel for a few hours while I read before I realized it was an ACOTAR inspired channel. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Someone did a really funny summary of the book on TH-cam using this funny animation. I don’t think I will be reading these books but for the fans, good for you. Keep reading. Another five star read this month. If an art book can be on my top ten book list at the end of the year, The Art of the Ghost of Tsushima will be.
Ghost of Tsushima is one of my all time fav games - a masterpiece. I think I know the ACOTAR video you mean - it was hilarious to watch after reading the book LOL. I’ve been starting to listen to ambient music as well while I read. Not all the time, but sometimes. Funny how a playlist can make you feel differently when you know what it’s inspired by 😜 Sanderson is a fun ride in fantasy, I would absolutely give him a shot! Thanks for watching!
Stormlight is fun! I think you'll really enjoy The Way of Kings. So glad to hear about Alex from Tall Guy Reads! I regret not being able to comment on that stream, as I was traveling that day with my wife and our baby daughter, but I'll have to watch a little so I can catch up with him. Wishing you a great rest of your reading month!
I have to get back to my Way of Kings re-read, hope you enjoy it! Only book I finished so far has been Dragon Keeper (Rain Wild Chronicles 1), its fine. Already reading the sequel Dragon Haven. I'm also working on Patient Zero (Joe Ledger 1) and Larry McMurtry's Streets of Laredo (sequel to Lonesome Dove)
Thanks, Usman! Yeah I was intimidated about the commitment for the Stormlight journey but you know what, once you’re in, you’re in. So far so good, I must say. I’ll just balance around it for a few months :)
Remarkably Bright Creatures sounds interesting, will have to check it out! Good luck with Stormlight. Given you already went ahead and bought those special editions, I hope you actually like the series 😂
“I’m still here” lol 🤣 yeah, that sounds about right for reading Acotar. Glad you found something to enjoy. And kudos to trying to read all 4 storm light books before December. A colleague and I talked about it and we decided not to read all of those till December 😬 we’re starting a bit later. He needs to finish wheel of times first. So probably early next year… I haven’t read any cosmere yet either (not counting the secret project books).
🤣🤣 I made it, Fine! Mostly unscathed. Yeah it’s a beefy commitment, innit?? I’m enjoying it so far, and will just try to plan around it for a few months as a priority. Hope to chat Cosmere with you at some point too!
@@RekindledReader lmao 🤣 mostly… I’m sure the spicy scenes were something. Let’s not forget the baldrik (I’m not spelling this right?!?!) 🤣🤣🤣 Cosmere is the fomo series for me for sure… can’t wait to chat 😝
Oh man I’m so pumped for you starting Stormlight 💪 I don’t read much contemporary lit fic anymore but that octopus book sounds like the place to go when I’m in the mood for one-great sell!
So excited for you to be reading Stormlight dude, it's absolutely breathtaking! And good for you trying ACOTAR lol, I'm honestly interested in trying it just to see what's up with this thing that is so crazy popular
Way of Kings has been gangster so far. What a master world builder. And honestly, ACOTAR was not great but I enjoyed it for what it was. And she got me - I want to read the second book 🤦🏻♂️🙃😂
I've been asked by several people now (including my spouse) to start Stormlight. Just not ready yet. I'll be curious to hear how it lands for you though, Theo. Happy Reading! 🍻
Great video!! Loving your content! 🎉 I think I'm the only one but I loved** The Way Of Kings and have enjoyed each sequel less and less. Have yet to read Rythm of War tho! Very curious to try the octopus book!! Thanks for the rec 😅😂
Great mix of books Theo! Hope to drop in on your Fireside chat tonight and can’t wait to join you once again maybe around Halloween?? 😂Keep rockin’ it buddy!
Still on «The Green Angel Tower» (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #3) by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy, that book is a beast in size and the prose SO GOOD!) Next up is «The Thousandfold Thought» (The Prince of Nothing #3) by R. Scott Bakker (Grimdark/Dark Epic Fantasy), then «Leviathan Falls» (The Expanse, #9) by James S.A. Corey (Space opera)!
Oh wow! Interesting. I didn’t know there would be an adaptation but it makes sense. I really enjoyed it and I think it would make quite the heartfelt film.
speaking of mob movies... on my TBR: Wise Guy .. the book the movie Goodfellas is based on. Forget the author at the moment .. think it's Nicholas something..
Huzzah Stormlight! Your comments so far have been "wtf is happening" which is hilarious. Glad you loved Remarkably Bright Creatures, I loved Marcellous but didn't love the human POVs.
So far in August i read Sex lies and sensibility by nikki Payne it's s modern take on sense and sensibility Life and other inconveniences by kristan Higgins Iron flame by rebecca yarros it was good Forever is now by Mariana j lockingington I read city on fire a few months ago i really enjoyed it im planning on reading the second book soon plus the series has been picked up to become a movie adaptation
