The show’s first-of-its-kind Indigenous creative team invites audiences into a surprisingly familiar and funny world.

It’s crazy when a scene can make you tear up but you’re not really sure what part of it is making you cry.
The part where you realize you relate to what the character is going through
Exactly
Took a tv show to remind me that our ancestors are with us no matter what. And when you realize it. That's a powerful thing.
The truth made you cry. Me as well. Our ancestors are all around us but most of the world has forgotten
That finally realizing that even when you feel most alone. The most down. That you aren't ever really. You're home. Within us all. That part made me cry. I felt like a weight was lifted off of me.
I have been telling my son since he was able to talk that his ancestors have his back. Every morning when I dropped him at daycare I would tell him that. They are always around. When I took him to his first powwow this summer, I saw him have this moment. I saw him with his eyes tightly closed during grand entry. When he opened them, they were welling up with tears. He looked at me and gave me the hardest hug he ever had. Made me cry too. It was beautiful. Just five years old and he felt the power of the universe wash over him. Never ever ever will I forget it.
My auntie and cousin are in this scene! 💕 the background song brings back memories. Love this show!
How cool! 👍🏼
They are going to be remembered! (Hi relative from over the mountain!))
Correct me if wrong because it’s an assumption but in my mind they gotta be the two women directly behind her, similar hair, top half of the face and skin tones.
Who's your auntie and cousin?
@@openminded4751 I thought this was TOO SACRED to make a comment on, like any other religious ceremony.
This scene and the rooftop scene with Bear and Daniels Dad made me cry 😢
I love that this show is teaching me so much about native culture! I wish there were more like it!
All you have to do is ask us
@@nikkimiddlekillsday5161 aho
There’s plenty like it just not main stream like this show I’ll throw a couple your way Smoke signals, thunderheart, dance me outside, powwow highway, dream keeper, SKINS, once we’re warriors etc….
@@Native174 Thank you! I've heard really good things about Smoke Signals but I hadn't heard of the others I'll check them out!
@@Native174 loved smoke signals
This scene had me sobbing so hard. So powerful and beautifully done
This scene was powerful AF.
Indians never got past Spirits, not even got to Gods, God and not the One true God.
Stone Age Tribal; not a good thing. No written language, No metal, not even round things: wheels.
Not a society to admire.
It got me good. I feel it.
@@jbeanz9042 make believe imaginary magic; nothing.
When you speak to yourself, in your brain. Only in your brain, imagination. Bad form of meditation.
Spirits are FAKE.
If you say so
Brought me to tears
I've never had a show pull on my heart so much.
This scene ran though my heart like a freight train, I prayed with my Son at the alter on Sunday Service, I felt an overwhelming feeling like I was surrounded, I felt safe. I wonder if it was my past loved ones and those before me comforting my pain. I adored that feeling.
One of the best shows on TV. Amazingly great. This was a particularly powerful scene.
Still moves me to tears. Beautiful and powerful message.
This scene was powerful and a tidal wave of emotions praise our ancestors
Best scene of RD to date...out of both seasons ✊🏽❤️
Give Lily Gladstone the Oscar she deserves!! #SKODEN
Give it up for Lily Gladstone, though. What a gem she is!
"Arohanui"Great love from Aotearoa NZ this was deeply connecting, this truly is a power we indigneous carry
It hurts my soul that this clip only has 43,000 views...
This show has the best scenes
Every native person get this scene. Ong watched the biggest G’s huddle around our 40 inch to choke up at this scene. We’re having a regular day. TV in the background as always. Dinner was done and we all happened to be in the room. Everyone got quiet. There’s that sacred connection in all of us. Watched my friends 7ft y’all dad choke up. never forgiving the industry for award snubbing this show
this scene.... so beautiful.. soul rending.
Thank You.
This scene alone is by far the best scene so far. Willie feeling the spirit brought up my own experiences during my religion journey. This episode was the only one that made me cry when the rest made me laugh.
Lily Gladstone is really about to win an Oscar this year.
Love this scene!
Incredible scene...
PA=SUPERSTAR

You can get those chips in canteen why is she acting like she hasnt seen them in forever
Anybody know the song?
It’s a creek hymn might not be available on yt but from a cd or even cassette how old some of those hymns are
@@54ThunderChief42 dang, it sounds very nice.
This is a dismissal song (slow version) called "Ce Mekusapeyvte" it's usually the last song sung before dismissal. This song can be sung in several tunes. Used in this setting and what it means was very appropriate and Sterling and Company, hit it out of the park! Mvtci Mvtci, Mvto!
yup.
This is the song that I feel like should've been in this scene:

Had an aunt in New Mexico teach me this. Did it 15 years later. Candles. Breathing and calmness are important. I felt “something” touch my right forearm. After that I knew they were always around us. They leave little markers on the road to guide you and let you know they’re there. You can ask them anything. They come in dreams too. Listen to your dreams. Write them down. Look for the signs. You’re gonna be okay.
It hurts too much when they come in dreams
Paulina is SUCH a good actress. Comedy, tragedy, character, all across the board she just brings it.
I was thinking while I was watching, I think she's the best on this show. It's just so real. She is exactly like your rez homegirl.
This is literally my favorite scene from any show, EVER. Thank you to the writers and crew for doing this scene. So powerful and true.
When the spirit places her hand on Willie Jack's shoulder 😭😭
For sure one of the most powerful scenes in the whole show. And they just hit you with it out of nowhere. They actually do that a lot. This show has many amazing elements that all come together to make it a real work of art.
Come for the snacks, stay for the deeply touching life guidance.
It's Hokti, not Hotki. Written in the Mvskoke opunvkv it is spelled Hokte. Come on FX, get it right.
@@johnniediacon7307 sheesh, better than not have any rep at all, fok
@@johnniediacon7307 Are they supposed to be on the Creek Res? Or do all the 5 tribes use Muscogee?
@@mboaz4730 They are on the Mvskoke rez. Mvskoke and Seminoles both speak Mvskoke. Cherokee, Choctaw, and Chickasaw speak their own languages.
Thank you FX for doing your research and learning our Native culture to produce an outstanding show!!!
Well, one of the creators of the show is Indigenous and they have tonnes of Native writers. So I don't think FX needed to do much research. Creators are drawing from their own lives and culture.
It's an all Native made show, writers and everything. This isn't FX showing our culture it US showing our culture
@@nikkimiddlekillsday5161 Exactly, All FX had to do was greenlight and fund the show (and renew it for a 2nd and 3rd season (the latter of which I can't wait to watch!)).
Sterlin Harjo cannot receive enough commendation for this show. FX execs wanted the show to be shot in NM, not OK, but he refused to accommodate that. He told them he could produce a show to be set in NM, but it wouldn’t be Rez Dogs. As indigenous stories, the land is a large enough part of the story as to be almost another character. It’s his uncompromising vision and talent that makes Rez Dogs what it is, and that’s not at all to take away from the enormously talented cast, crew, and writers. I’m a white woman living on Mvskoke land not far from where most of the scenes are shot. I really hope and expect that Rez Dogs leads a cultural revolution of more and more marginalized people having the resources they need to share their stories with the wider audiences, without compromise to the established status quo of the entertainment industry. I’m so grateful that Sterlin Harjo became friends with Taika Waititi in the times that we have streaming services in addition to traditional broadcast TV. Rez Dogs couldn’t have happened with the old TV execs. 🪶
@@merkinidgit true but there is something to be said that fx was willing to give in
From the bottom of my indian heart. Thank you for making this show. I lost my son to suicide, exact same way as Daniel did, and even though there are a TON of funny moments; it's scenes like this that heal generational wounds. I don't know who wrote it but I'm so grateful you did. Inepo Yoeme!
made me burst into tears. Thanks to the producers for this amazing scene
You don't need to be on sacred ground or in a holy temple to pray, you just need a strong spirit
Our ancestors are always there to guide us
Omg. I just realized why Hokti and Willie Jack’s ancestor, Gram, looks so young. She died at that age and never got to be a grandma. Wow. Powerful.
This scene was so powerful and hit hard to me. Idk why but this whole scene somehow made me think about my grandma and how she is still here with me watching over me as a spirit. Miss her but hope she’s happy with the creator.
future oscar winner lily gladstone!
And future future Oscar winner Paulina Alexis
Im maori and feel so resonated with this ❤ much aroha (love) to all indigenious americans ❤
Hard! First time I watched this I balled out crying cause when i started learning te reo maori more, I started experiencing exactly this. Freaked me out so much I stopped. I think I need to start learning again.
Native or not, this is human. This is our entire existence, legacy and history passed down and stories and indivduals.. its something anyone can understand. Its just that the indigenous have never lost that, while so many others have. They have my respect
What a powerful scene. This show has been a long time coming! Finally non native will see how much humor, sincerity and love is in native communities. Thanks to the producers and writers for true representation!
Cried my whole way through. Thanks for saving this clip. I need the reminder from time to time
I'm from the few lucky ones who ran back to their mountains (Eastern Cherokee)
This scene hits hard no matter how many times I watch it.
Fr... always got me tearing up lol
This scene gave me goosebumps love this show and its growth.
Congrats on the Golden Globe Lily
Really makes all the sense in the world
Being Native American myself I felt this on a spiritual level
I just noticed it was Lily Gladstone??
Gosh, this scene is too real. To fragile. To... needed.
We are still here, hurting and healing, but we are still here
it's so fucked that the Emmys snubbed this show, one of the best things I watched this year
Emmy’s haven’t come out yet. But yeah this show is definitely snubbed
Don't worry about whites trophy.
They just nominated it for some top awards this year.
White Emmy’s? Weird
When I first saw the caretakers show up...
I thought this was the most poignant, beautiful, and powerful scene I have seen in any medium.
This show unironically changed my life as a city native that comes from family long disconnected from their band.
Never have I ever seen how it feels to have a spiritual experience like this portrayed onscreen.
I see all my people on these episodes. Celebrities ayye. The new episode at travel plaza was good . I was getting gas ⛽ when they was shooting the episode 10.
🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥, I've actually been locked up as a kid this scene speaks to me so much imma cry everyday I watch, good HALLISHUA
Same
The main thing I took after this scene, is that my Ancestors are always with me, no matter what.
Even when 💦?😳
The most beautifully devastating scene in a show filled with them. How is it so funny, tragedic and real all at the same time?
Yup.. our native culture is soooo very important.. this hit home for me.. 😢😢 make our grandparents proud.. learn as much as we can and pass on to the younger generations and beyond.. walk in beauty..
i feel like even if you can't relate to anything in this show, Paulina Alexis' acting alone is still enough to make you tear.
this is one of the greatest scenes ever in television. period. my god.
Agree.
Season 2 was the best season, no matter how many times I watch this scene I always tear up.
I find myself tearing up when I watch this show, the messages and the situations hit me in the heart
I lost my grandma last year, I can not get through this scene without tearing up
Lost both my grandmother and my twin within the same year, pray really helped me to keep going even today 🙏
I nominate Paulina Alexis for an Oscar and an Emmy!
WORD
If i'm not wrong, the actor playing Hokti is in Killer Of The Flower Moon right?
Right
Makes me weep everytime... we are never going anywhere!
Happy indigenous people day!
this scene is soooo well done, especially @ 4:07
Omg lily gladstone!
This show is incredible
This might be the greatest scene in the history of television.
Perfect Scene… Kept waiting for William “Spirit” Knifeman to show up and ruin it for her.. Dude is a SceneStealer as is everyone in this show.. Best Show on TV right now.. Keep’m comin’ FX and hurry up with Season 3!
I felt this...
Powerful & amazing scene.
Danny's mother??
Yes that’s Daniel’s mother, and Willie Jack’s aunt
For a very few appearances, Gladstone is such a standout
Lily "Best Actress Winner" Gladstone
Yeah. I think it's gonna happen too.
This whole series, like, every f'n episode, brings me to tears, wrings me out and stands me up again.
Best Content on any form of TV in since even before Adventure Time. Arguably longer.
This scene changed me. For the better.
As a sound guy and native I caught all y’all did there…❤️🔥
I hate that I found this show late because i smashed all the episodes in just a few days and then I found out season 3 is the last season :-(
Hope she gets the Oscar for the Scorsese movie
Amazing scene. Well done.
This was so emotional and I did not see it coming and it got me. Such great acting 🥺❤️
When I need a reminder of where I come from, I watch this ❤️🔥
One of the best shows ever! So so underrated.
Lily Gladstone is one of the best actors of our generation. When I first saw her in this, I didn’t know she’d go on to play more incredible roles like this one.
Incredible scene, incredible show.
Thank you for posting this. Wela'lin
After my mom pass away, my father is the only parent I have left, but he's locked up,
But we're really going through it, I'm really going through it it's not easy losing a mom , your baby momma, and two little brothers from suicide
Every night for the past decade I look up at the stars as I pee outside my cabin and I feel my ancestors across Time and Space connected by streaming urine and starlight💫
Sterling Harjo and the actors really brought it this 3rd and final season. Gooooood wayz
