I usually just watch, and don't comment, but had to today....I love Half Price Books actually, and had a pretty rare DVD find at one of my local stores recently....HALLOWEEN 2 disc, lenticular cover, 2 different nice heavy card stock inserts....individually numbered, and released by Anchor Bay back in 1999.....awesome find....love your channel by the way, I'll take this moment to let you know.
Final Destination films are so fun! The type of movies I enjoy watching when broadcasted on cable TV, I would never care to have them in my collection, but a great guilty pleasure!
This is pretty much what I do to keep my costs around $100 a month even though I buy around 100 physical video media each month. It does help having 5 Amazon, 3 Walmart and 2 Costco return stores in my city. Also keep eyes peeled for 50% off sales at my local thrift stores. There's a thrift store down the street that sells all physical video media for $1CAD and at 50% off brings the price down to 50 cents. All physical media means DVDs, blu-rays, 3D blu-rays, 4K blu-rays, boxsets...etc for 50 cents a piece.
I hit up my local Half Price books in Texas last weekend they had a 20% sale and I know some locations are closing..sold them some movies and bought some books..Great stuff Ken!!
Looking at the prices used physical media seems to hold its value way better than in the uk where I live. It's really a buyer market here. We have similar stores called CEX, and you can literally go in with £10 and come out with up to 20 blurays depending on what they have in stock. Prices here Everything must go £1 The fourth kind £2 Drive angry £0.5 Clown £6 Fd5 £2 So £11.50 or $15.10. Interesting to compare.
Used to love Half Price Books but they have become a joke in my area. The prices shown on many of the movies, VHS, DVD, bluray, in this video were ridiculously overpriced. I was stunned when you said you received $40.00 for approximately 60 DVD/ blurays. Last lot of physical media I tried to trade in was valued at $500.00 based off Amazon/ Ebay sold items at the time. I was expecting a minimum offer of $100.00 and maybe $150.00 if I got lucky. When they offered me $19.75 for everything I had them pack everything back up and took it back home and have never gone back.
All great films! The only one i`m not familiar with is Clown, ive always avoided it tbh but will have to grab it. With Final Destination, in the USA we got a cheapo 4 film set. The final one you had to buy seperately. But Germany released a beautiful deluxe 5 film padded mediabook set. I own it but it was a bit pricey, 120 or 130 I believe, but I had to have it! Its also region free. I`m honestly surprised that shout hasnt picked those up and do a nice 4k boxset, has to be in the pipeline
Half Price books is overpriced anyway. They want full retail prices on used movies. Imo the only thing they're good for is things like out of print steelbooks.
I'm on a thrifting road trip myself atm. I've hit up 20+ pawn shops so far. All but one have been a big strike out but that one was a home run. Picked up Godzila Vs Kong 4k steelbook The Invisible Man 4k Godzila vs Kong New Empire 4k Wonka 4k Hunger Games Songbird and Snakes 4k IP Man 4 4k Twister 4k Civil War 4k Chappie Blu-ray All for $40 they were asking $6 per 4k and $1.99 for the Blu-ray but rounded down for buying in bulk.
They have some Half Price Books locations in the Chicagoland area, along with some Disc Replay stores. I make the occasional 3 hour drive out there to do my treasure hunting.
I am waiting for a box set (4K) of the final destination series. Love the deaths in them

I saw a lot of good Italian horror in there, makes me want to go shopping today!
I gave away some 4ks to the Salvation Army Thrift store in Melbourne Australia. Scanner Cop 2, Ticks etc
Stuart, ex-Victorian here - you don't feel inclined to sell them on Ebay instead, to at least try to get some of your original outlay back?
Ken, that's my favorite HPB. I've actually found a few OOP discs there for great prices over the years.
Final Destination five film collection is 14.99 on Amazon, just picked it up.
I ordered it yesterday 💀
Speaking my language Ken. A practice I’ve been using for a while now. Why not get rid of old dupes or stuff you don’t want for something you do!
Most of those prices are redicolous! Start hitting some flea markets.
Everything Must Go is a good one
the fourth kind is one of my favourite horrors flicks - looks incredible on bluray too!
Drive Angry = Peak Amber Heard. Lots of fun. Cage is as fun as could be. The 3D Blu-ray is my preferred viewing method.
The 3d really pops on this movie 👍
