U know when I arrive at south station I keep reminding myself on how huge these trains truly are and trust and believe u don't wanna get close to these remember if anyone is recording for a Amtrak flyby stay safe
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thank you ,,,,as an old diesel guy builder of engines.....Hearing the wind up ,,, the combo of power,,,,whether from a electric caternary or from a prime mover,,,,,,,awesome.......
Greetings to all railway fans. Nice video. I would just leave longer shots of the trains. The sound is good. 🚆 Joseph Prague City . Czech Republic Europe . 🚉
I grew up in BKLYN,,,,,,as a kid after school,,,,hung out on the tracks of the NYC and later was the New Haven ,,,,anyway that spread had overhead electrification....As an adult I can learn and respect things that where far above my youth......my stories of youth can fill a book......One kid ,,,as I remember was atop a frieght car,,,not fearin the caternery cable of 700 volts DC current,,,,,anyway ,,,,as I heard the train moved ,,forward and the kid lost balance,,,,,guess what happened....I saw one afternoon a couple of kids raise a very long pipe and to my almost blindness,,,,they short circuited the catenanry to the ground rail......the sound of the arc,,,, was a giant snaping sound.....I saw the severed overhead cable hit the ties and sparks jumped along the ties......But the spark ,,,,,the point of short circuit gave off triple the dc voltage of the caternarry voltage........
Amtrak runs services that extend beyond the NEC, so the train will be led by a city sprinter before being cut off and letting the genesis or charger take over where electrification stops. This practice dates all the way back to the pensylvania railroad and new york central.
I liked that you kept the clips where the camera was blown over, makes even more entertaining.
ok

At 6:26, Does Amtrak run both electric and diesel power simultaneously? If so, why? Or was the diesel unit getting ferried?
Amtrak runs services that extend beyond the NEC, so the train will be led by a city sprinter before being cut off and letting the genesis or charger take over where electrification stops. This practice dates all the way back to the pensylvania railroad and new york central.

Why does Amtrak put baggage cars in the middle ? isn’t luggage safer in the rear ?
No the that's why first class is always in the front because it offers a smoother ride right behind the locomotive
