Wow. I was there in 1982 and taught students from Mary K at Mt Isa High school. We used to drive down to Mary K for MT on a weekend and play golf and lunch at the club. Your photos bought back so many memories. Thanks you.
Hi Mark, thank you for your comment, and sharing that wonderful nostalgia. As you know there was far more to Mary Kathleen than what I could fit in this video. We found the history of MK so interesting. I understand there is a reunion happening shortly bringing together all the residents of MK. You can find this on Facebook. Again thanks for your comment that means a lot.
Im from NZ,used to shear around McKinlay. Our highlight was going to Mount Isa on the odd weekend.I thought the place was a hole lol, beauty in the eye of the beholder I guess. We had a weekend off and the Australian Pressman took us on a 2 hour tour to get to this small creek,we said is that it lol, used to the more greenery back home in NZ. One of the Shearing sheds we had to go across the Northern territory then back into Mt Isa where they built a make shift shed.Met some great people though, some good memories, would have been back in the 80s.Did abit of catching wild pigs on the weekends with the farmer.
Great work guys, Loved it. . We were actually camped just near you in Our Van at Mary Kathleen, definitely an interesting Township. Enjoy your travels. . Stay safe 💗
We were going to pop over but didn't want to intrude lol. . Plus catching up with each other coming and going with day trips haha. Our Van is the one with the silver screen just to the left behind you in a couple of your video shots 💗 Stay safe, enjoy your travels
