    You do NOT need to smash your crossover pipe to gain enough clearance at the trans skid. Install you 2-hole spacer bar on the top side of the trans skid not the bottom as you have it now. You may need to grind on the rear driver side of the trans skid mounting bracket (not the plate itself) in order to gain enough clearance to eliminate exhaust rattle with the engine running in gear (that's just an ARB manufacturer problem).

    I went with RCI because the ARB hardware looks dinky. Thanks for the video

    DUDE, I went with these also!! Only problem I ran into(2) was an old broken bolt that needed extracting and the cross member.
    If you go with Doug Thorley Performance Y-Pipes, it will need some adjustments

      Haha no way! If you look at 4:59 you’ll see I had the same issue with the bolt snapping 🤣
      DT headers are awesome but not a good idea in CA unfortunately 😐

      Right.
      I went with just the Y-Pipes and new Dorman manifolds w/cats. I miss Fresno/Visalia but LOVE having my 24 round FN509 Mag and non-Carb compliant swag in/on my GX! 😄

      I had to grind about 3/16" off the rear drivers side of the trans plate mounting bracket before I had enough clearance to eliminate the exhaust rattle from the interference of the stock crossover pipe. I wouldn't be surprised if I have to grind more once I've installed URD's pipe.

    • @rzabeatsdun4589
      @rzabeatsdun4589 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t have to grind ANYTHING, just a BUNCH of Elbow Grease and it was good! Lol

    Hi, nice video. Hope you are happy with your plates. I am thinking of instaling ARB plates on my Prado but I am a bit conserned as I heard that ground clearence gets smaller with insalling bash plates. Did you maybe measured yours or get that impresion after installing?

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With some you get significantly affected ground clearance but I think it’s very minor with these ARB ones. A ~1/4 inch less clearance is worth it to me for the protection they provide.

    U have a steel front bumper. You also said u want to keep it light weight. No

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol true, I thought about editing in some text about how ironic that statement was in light of the bumper and sliders 🤣
      What I was trying to say is that I really didn’t feel the need to go heavy with the plates since the rest of the rig is already getting too heavy for my efficiency goals.

  • @driojal
    @driojal 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would you have to remove the front skid plat to do the oil change?

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It looks like there’s just enough room to reach your hand in and take the drain plug out. Regardless, I’ll just remove it since it’s only 5 bolts and I want to keep it clean

  • @is3commander
    @is3commander 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s not good idea to touch plate with exhaust? That will not make noise and heat up cover fast?

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s probably not a huge deal but i am more worried about vibrations from the plate rubbing a hole in the exhaust. Pretty easy to “clearance” the exhaust enough to fit the plate. Just a few whacks with a hammer and it’s good.

      The Magnaflow Overland eliminates all this…

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rzabeatsdun4589 Can you elaborate? Doesn't the low-clearance Y-pipe stay in place, and the cat-back exhaust bolts on to that?

      No I don’t believe so. An RCI or BudBuilt set would probably work better for that in terms of coverage but I’m not sure

      I bashed it out of the way so its not rubbing or anything. Should be fine. If I start seeing signs of burning or rubbing, I'll rethink it

    How's access for oil changes?

    • @lexus_offroad_adventures
      @lexus_offroad_adventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a square access hole probably 4”x4” beneath the oil drain plug. The access isn’t as wide as the stock one so it’s a bit of a squeeze to get ur hand in there. I’d just remove it. It’ll take 5 mins.
      The front plate can stay on though since there’s plenty of oil filter access.
