    Being a guitar player doesn't mean that u have to play 1000 notes per second! It's always about expressions and soul of the music that comes to your mind. Lots of respect for this man ! \m/
    Dam it sounds soo heavy!

      Djent is because of Meshuggah, and would have happened without Korn ever existing. They had 7 string guitars before Korn put out their first album. 7 strings were because of Steve Vai.

How difficult any particular part is to play is completely irrelevant, it's about how it sounds and how it makes you feel. This is something that Munky has mastered, whereas you guys that can play a more technical solo but are living in your moms basement bitching in the TH-cam comment section can only dream of having the same impact.

    Ok let's just cut this shit already. Nu metal is basically distorted riffs and mixture of other genres mixed with metal. For guitarists that have been playing for 20+ years but that haven't been able to experiment more and not put any time and effort for solos but then being able to improvise something out of nothing means they have more talent. They've just been hiding it. If you're so much better than this then why aren't you in a band much bigger than Korn? Or any other band like them? Or why aren't you big at all? Oh wait. You just got on the internet for attention. I'm just here to make a point

    1.) I didn't think James would make a solo that's the fastest and most technical but I could definitely feel the emotion he was putting into it which is the whole point.
    2.) Every Korn fan knows that James is not the shredder, that's Brian. I'm actually proud that James has gotten so good at two hand tapping because I remember when Brian was showing him how to do that for the first time. lol

    Head is clearly the more creative rhythm player, as could be told by heads music and the steep decline in Korn's music after he left. As for leads, no telling whose better as it's is limited in selection. This definitely a good cleanly played creative solo. I'm interested in hearing what head can do, simply because some research shows he's had more formal training and apparently was playing van Halen licks in high school. Not really to pit them against each other, but more curiosity who actually is better. Only head solo I know of is completely the wrong style to compare

    To put things in perspective, it's far from being the worst solo I've ever heard. It's definitely better than anything Kurt Cobain or Johnny Ramone had ever done, despite those guys being seemingly revered as guitarists by the music media. Hell, even George Harrison probably would've had a tough time with this solo, and there are many who consider him a genius guitar player.
    But in the end I agree, I expected more from someone who's been playing for well over 20 years.

      True story and I agree with everything you said..That said, Im a big fan of Korn and its absolutely understandable why people see it as simplistic and ultimately lacking for a guitar player of 20 years but hes always said he was no virtuoso. Both he and Head are extremely modest when discussing their playing capabilities. They acknowledge that theyre mainly revered for their ability to arrange and compose unique, creepy/heavy sounding yet simplistic riffs. I was always a big fan of their tone and sheer heaviness and in all fairness to Munk, hes never claimed to be a great guitar player. I just feel thats worth considering when calling out a persons ability to do what they do.

      Cobain's solos are better because they have a very unique and original sound. This is the best I have ever heard Korn play, but it sounds nothing like Korn. It sounds like a less difficult Frank Zappa or Jimmy Hendrix solo.

      Slayer's solos suck, they are just hard to play.

    • @tgunzz3790
      @tgunzz3790 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +John Griswald its subjective. Cobain was definitely unique but personally I prefer a solo like this by a long shot. And its not to take away from either of them in any way, it just comes down to preference.

    This is already a feat in Nu Metal guitar folks. Remember there are no scales, no minor, no major, no pitch, no chord progressions, no diminished, no augmented in NuMetal guitar world. Just plain plug n play your guitar dammit! and make the loudest sound possible attitude!
