Greg is one of the most skilled keyboardists and arrangers on the planet and Rod Temperton was a genius!!! Anthony is obviously a talented composer and programmer in his own right!!!! This is an eye-opening expose and I'm going to watch 'em all!!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!!! There is no producer/arranger on the planet that has the respect and influence that Quincy Jones has!

I can't thank you enough. This interview is what I want for long time. I'm Japanese MJ fan and I don't understand English well, but this program makes me like "I should listen this no matter what!". "Thriller" is absolutely go down in music history. The testimonies by people who worked in the album should be recorded as much as possible. This program is doing that in great way. I'm so thankful...

One of the most interested episodes in this program is that Michael called the "choooon" sound in the "Thriller" song "Star falling". I didn't know that. And I love that you guys loves Quincy's gentle behavior. That makes an impression.

It's like watching old friends catching up on old days and such.. really insightful to watch. As a MJ fan and follower, I bet making the magic, creating the magic of Thriller was more than delightful than anything on this world that can be was as great as anything on Earth would or will be. Thank you, Greg, Anthony and everyone that were and was involved on Thriller. I bet it was a time to be alive at that time.

Hi, I'm a young Michael follower and you don't know how much I appreciate this, knowing more about how the album was created is amazing, especially from the people who worked on it.
Personally I'd like to know more about songs that didn't make cut on the album, for example "She's Trouble" and "Carousel", that would be super interesting, I hope you can do a podcast focused on that!.

This is amazing! I think that’s gotta be J.R. on drums in the beginning snare fills of “Thriller”. Like maybe there’s a snare overdub because it’s a different tone on the snare in the intro compared to the rest of the groove which I can tell is a Linn Drum. Either way, it’s truly amazing!!

Just discovering and digging into this channel. Simply fantastic work! I hear the Linn on the body of the title track, but I've always wondered about the into drums. It sounds like live drums (or at least cymbals) on the intro, prior to the first "brass" hits, before the main groove starts. I've never read any drum credits, but could it have been Jeff P or Ndugu on that intro, or am I just mishearing?
(Edit) Just listening closely again it sounds like a Linn ride cymbal playing quarters and acoustic drums and hats under that in the intro. The snare fill in almost sounds like the snare sound from Ndugu's tracks and less like Jeff's. The bass drum in that section certainly doesn't sound like the Linn, and especially the hi hats. Really curious if anyone remembers anything different about that intro, and how it came to be.
Just fantastic that you guys are documenting these experiences and sharing them. As you are all too aware, fewer and fewer of you all are still around to have these great conversations with us listening in. ❤

No doubt, Greg is a genius on keyboards - but not in VOIP. Sometimes hardly understandable. Anthony does a much better job in this respect.

7:04 Wait ... Greg Phillinganes did not know that Thriller has no real drums (except for the break in the intro) but is a drum machine until 2023?! What? That man is musically a legend and the Linn drum sound is so charactersitic for the 80ies. I can't belive that ...
