Original description:
A bit of a different video today, I thought it'd be fun to tas a Pokémon game :D
A bit of an explanation for some stuff:
1. Durant was the chosen one for its high speed and learning good coverage moves with Guillotine. Plus it's pretty strong and gets Hustle, so any Pokémon that cannot be OHKOed will get destroyed by it's raw power.
2. Sometimes (very obvious at the beginning of the run) I stand still or wait a few frames before making an input, this is because Emeralds RNG is dependent on which frames you do things. For example the reason I wait for a few 100 frames at the start is to get better RNG with the route I have to take, in this run I don't enter a single route and instead only have special encounters (shops, legendary Pokémon, strong Pokémon, etc.) because you can leave them pretty quick as opposed to a route with encounters, as it would cost a huge amount of time. Plus training luckily isn't needed as Durant starts at level 100.
3. This is in no way the fastest way to complete it, with better RNG you can save probably about a minute or two (maybe even sub 20 if you actually put in effort).

The run starts when the console is turned on and ends at the last input.
Emulator used: BizHawk 2.8
Core: mGBA
Rerecord count: 125 and A LOT of rewind
Time: 22:49.051 (81770 Frames)
That's definitely an interesting hack to TAS :o
Maybe using Seeded Mode to find a password for a good seed (pre-generated maps and gym leaders, most importantly) instead of a randomly generated run would save a good amount of time. But 00:22:49 is already an insane time, pretty much twice as fast as the 00:46:xx I've made with fast-forward during a Scrafty run ! Huge congratulations !
I'm not saying you now have a potential competitor, but this seems like a fast run compared to most games... 👀
Seeded would definitely be a better solution, but without a program to generate seeds, I don't think I want to deal with :D. Though this in general can be improved, for example restarting the entire run instead of sitting still at the beginning of the run, using items in the bag or another way to waste a turn if they use Protect, multi hit move to deal with Focus Sashes. Maybe I will improve this eventually :D
There definitely is a lot of room for optimization ! And it seems at least to me, that this TAS was mainly meant to be an attempt at making a low enough time, without trying to make THE lowest time possible. TAS runs like those make a really good job at showing where time can be saved for the future, I fully support you if you wanna make things more optimized :>
i have runs done on Vanilla current routing all quests for Vanilla i've done NG+ and Any% on Vanilla
if only Fissure Dynamic Punch Fire Punch (insert any useful move here) Machamp with quick Claw would be a cool meme tas strategy
Considering it's roughly a 23% chance to activate quick claw it's not even that bad, sadly the text for proccing quick claw will most likely lose more frames than you gain from not having to lose frames to hit moves.
