    I’ve been adding a lot of keywords that I can’t fit into my title into item specifics for the past few months and it has definitely helped. I’m dealing mostly with ephemera where there’s a lot of relevant search words that you don’t have room to put in title. There is only one drawback and it would be very small. If someone narrowed their search with item specifics and you added the keyword in the item specific they chose to narrow down it could block you out of that search. It would be rare for it to happen so I don’t really worry about it.

    I do ebay dropshipping so this does work 100%. I list 1000s of items. It helps you get views from sellers that are looking for unorthodox keywords. The problem that I see would be that, the more item specifics you put, the less relevant your listing becomes unless you can be consistent about a specific search query. Meaning, ebay ranks your items based on relevancy, and if you put random words or new words, then they might not have the confidence that your item is relevant to the buyers search

  • @angelbabe1977
    @angelbabe1977 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have always put words not recommended when listing on eBay because half the time the recommendd words dont even match what i need. I have never added words that didn't describe my items.

  • @richalaresellers
    @richalaresellers ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Excellent & true ❤ trick and hack for ebay. I have been doing that or about a year now. I put anything relevant that doesn't fit in the title. Makes a huge difference. At first I thought it would only work if a buyer used the filter. I soon discovered it was pulling up my listing to the top search reguardless if sponsored or not.
    My husband kept telling me not to do that because he is hard to pivot on new ways of doing things.
    Better than using promoted advance clicks. It also seems to really help my Google results. I just made a sale from new user coming from Google on 3 plushies for $630 on Sunday. I put everything back to 4% standard promo. I need to go back over my stale or older than a year listings and tweek.
    I watch Rachels channel but haven't caught any lately.

    20yr seller here.... ebay's focus on 'item specifics' is a sink hole. It reaches the point of diminishing returns very quickly. Can a men's 'plaid' shirt be a 'dress' shirt?... It depends on your opinion.. and the actual plaid. What is the height of the heel on a ladies 'flat' shoe? Can a men's penny loafer be a dress shoe, or is it a casual shoe??
    It's all subjective... but the seller has to lay a marker down on the the red or black, spin the wheel and hope for the best. Because it matters in the 'search'.
    When the "Title' was king we all made more money and the buyer found what they really wanted. Now, buyers only see what the 'system' thinks is 'best' for them. And the seller is forced to try and compete with the algorithm when we don't even know what the rules are!!!!
    We're literally playing a game that is rigged against us by default.🤦🏻‍♂
    I'll take real intelligence over 'artificial' intelligence any day.

    I don't remember who, but someone told me (I think on youtube) that if you don't use the prefilled drop down item specifics it will lower your search rank. For example the required item specifics for Screen Protectors are incorrect, (tripod?????tracker???) been that way for 10 years, I always fill in "screen protector". I hardly sell any screen protectors. Have the rules changed? or do we just have to keep throwing ish up against the wall to see what sticks?

    • @brainfloss9710
      @brainfloss9710 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never really thought too much about it, but I guess I always kinda assumed it works exactly like that. If there are only 3 items fitting a specific keyword and they each only have the word once in the listing, I figure the word in the title would rank first followed by the one with the word in the description, and the one in the item specifics last. Who knows how it really works exactly, but that's the assumption I've been working from.

    • @angelbabe1977
      @angelbabe1977 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So have I. I list a ton of items that the recommend specifics do not even match what my item is, so I add my own. That's one of the things I never listened to anyone about when they say only use what's already there...ummm....no...

    • @brainfloss9710
      @brainfloss9710 ปีที่แล้ว

      @keenaboo03 I also add my own specifics when needed and possible. I try to fill every single item specific field. Even if it is a specific that is not relevant to my own, I will put "other", "n/a", or similar.

    • @angelbabe1977
      @angelbabe1977 ปีที่แล้ว

      @brainfloss9710 I have been on and off eBay for 16 years. I have always filled in all the information I possibly could. I have no idea where anybody got the information that your own specifics do not show up in search. Using only ebay's sugjust did I don't specifit's could get you an inad. Simply because a lot of buyers only look at the specifics And do not read the descriptions.

    If she is using a bunch of strange words that wouldn't normally show up in ebay - just because they show up when you specifically search for them doesn't really mean anything special is going on. You'll still be in competition with all other relevant keywords when describing normal stuff with normal words.

  • @rjrobbins2
    @rjrobbins2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I thought this was widely known. Ebay has said to fill in as many of these fields as possible and everything on the internet is keywords so it only makes sense you would use keyboards here. Which is why using N/A, Not Applicable, etc is useless.

    • @RockstarFlipper
      @RockstarFlipper  ปีที่แล้ว

    @scarletspider1240 ปีที่แล้ว

    This isn’t really a hack…it’s just a feature of the eBay search algorithm. The algorithm indexes everything you put in your listing whether it’s in the title or not. That’s why it’s important to not keyword-word stuff your title. Always keep your titles short, relevant, and to the point. Then put all your other words in places like item condition, description, and item specifics….the algorithm will index them all the same no matter where they are, so when anyone searches using those words…your listing will rank and show up. Amazon is the exact same way. It’s been this way forever. I don’t sell a ton on eBay anymore but I was doing this already back 5-6 years ago and it worked the exact same way.

One Of my high paying clients wanted to start a new Google ad campaign with keywords that cost $100 a click and not $1 a click or .06 cents a YT view. & I have a feeling that his company will drop me because of my cerebral palsy, not because of difference of his opinion on how I should run his ad copy! I think he likes me, but typically his wife does not!!! Anyway, the new hack you are describing to rank higher in eBay listings, In my opinion, do not use this hack ~ It is called sub stacking your keywords vi when someone uses nonsense words with real KW's in the phase or using e_Bay instead of eBay.
