- How To Defeat Rykard, Lord of Blashpemy - Elden Ring Gameplay Guide
While Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy is an optional boss, I recommend defeating him for the runes to get more levels. The fight against him is what I call a "gimmick fight" where you get a special weapon specifically designed to fight Rykard, and it makes the fight really easy.
The Golden Order has been broken. Rise, Tarnished, and be guided by grace to brandish the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between.
In the Lands Between ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree, has been shattered.
Marika's offspring, demigods all, claimed the shards of the Elden Ring known as the Great Runes, and the mad taint of their newfound strength triggered a war: The Shattering. A war that meant abandonment by the Greater Will.
And now the guidance of grace will be brought to the Tarnished who were spurned by the grace of gold and exiled from the Lands Between. Ye dead who yet live, your grace long lost, follow the path to the Lands Between beyond the foggy sea to stand before the Elden Ring.
And become the Elden Lord.
Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game's progression-similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls-and are explorable using the character's mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option. Throughout the game, players encounter non-player characters (NPCs) and enemies alike, including the demigods who rule each main area and serves as the game's main bosses.
Combat in Elden Ring relies heavily on character-building elements found in previous Souls games and related intellectual properties, such as calculated and close-ranged melee-based combat with the use of skills, magic abilities, as well as blocking and dodging mechanics. Elden Ring introduces mounted combat and a stealth system, the latter being a core gameplay element from Sekiro; these features are expected to encourage players in strategizing their combat approach with each unique enemy they encounter. The game makes use of a player character stamina bar after being absent from Sekiro, although its overall influence over combat was reduced compared to previous FromSoftware games that utilized it. Unlike in Sekiro, resurrection mechanics after in-game death are not available; however, some elements were added to ensure players' progression within the game.
Miyazaki stated that the customization in Elden Ring would be richer, as players are able to discover different skills through their exploration of the map instead of unlocking skill trees as in Sekiro and differing from the pre-fixed weapon skills of FromSoftware's previous games. These skills are interchangeable with a large variety of weapons which, alongside equipment, magic abilities, and items players can craft using materials found within the world, can be used to customize the player character.[4][6] The game also features summoning mechanics, where players can summon a large variety of collectible spirits hidden throughout the game's world map, including previously defeated enemies, as allies to assist them in battle. Similar to the Souls series, the game's multiplayer allows other players to be summoned for cooperative play.

I was stuck on this boss for hours and finally searched a guide and found this, and completed it within 10 tries. Thank you soooo much for this. I didn’t even realize you could click L2 a second time for another part of the ash of war! I summoned my mimic veil and it honestly kept Rykard distracted enough in the second phase that he didn’t summon those flying skulls (I can never avoid dying at that part no matter what I do) and he focused more on my mimic than me. Again, really appreciate it. Learned a lot!
u know my friend this is the only guide that taught me how to kill rykard. Unlike, most of the guides didn't even help me but ever since you mentioned jump attack I was able to beat the boss. Thank you

Really good video thank you so much bro, you explained everything really well and helped me beat him on my 5g try after watching. Only thing that I found out is that when he goes down and lifts the fire and rocks up, just shield it. But make sure the shield has no skill (like no parry) so u can use the ash of war ❤❤
Hey I’m watching your video and getting a lot of help from it. Just wanted to add that if you have enough health, you can two hand the spear and block with it for the ground blast thing and you’ll take much less damage (I believe it’s 60%)
am the only one that didn't think to use the sword you get at the beginning of the match? Tried to bloodhound fang bang with my mimic tear, took forever only to get crushed in the second phase.

Right so just did it and figured you can just R1 both phases in his stomach, kinda has to be the serpent weapon as it deals so much damage that hes unable to send burning skulls after you before hes dead

also if you have mimic summon and spam damage he gets overwhelmed and busy that he doesn’t get around to it. I can’t for the life of me dodge the skulls and him so I figured this out by accident/desperation lol

My dumbass completely ignored the weapon they gave me, and I opted to run into the lava and slash him to death lol. Worked great for phase 1, but just about impossible with phase 2. Thanks for the guide!

During the first phase, the Serpent moves so fast that I get stuck on the pillars.
I just used a Mimic Tear and actually stood in the lava as it didn't seem to do a huge amount of damage... and I literally just spammed M1 on mouse until he was dead lol. Not sure how I got away with that but I guess perhaps they didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to actually stand in lava so he had very few counters to that? I did use the sword as recommended though after failing my first attempt with my heavy axe
I usually put on some fire gear, and just run up to him and start spamming r1
Using the spear they give you really makes it easier

Togethaaa! Your guide helped a lot, especially the jump strong attack advice. It was my first solo of rykard and I'm kinda proud. Probably not much of an accomplishment to the elitists out there, but you can s_ck my b_lls. To the average gamer like me, counter his bite with a jump-strong attack button hit and you'll get the stager eventually and then hit with the charge attack, you'll get him in no time. Persistence,it took me 8 tries.
P.S. In the second phase of the fight, spam the great serpent hunter skill and victory will be yours.
How can I make the serpant hunter do more damage? What stats should I level up?
I just used the somber smithing stones and just leveled it up to +5

No. It’s bullshit. I’ve seen everyone else fight him and my RNG is just shit. He breaks through everything. Too close, he does that magma ground rock, which you can’t dodge.
Or he just goes in for the bite and my character literally doesn’t dodge.
Idk what they patched but my fight looks WAAAAYYYYYY different than what’s on TH-cam.
Sometimes RNG can be a pain in the ass, but I promise you there's nothing special in the latest patch that makes this fight any different.

just try a few times, i find it annoying when games makes me fight things with othewr than the build i chose. took me 3 tries after i equiped the spear
@@theJOSHfeed I eventually got him and successfully completed the game but he was an absolute jerk.
the one thing I hated about this boss is that there's way too much happening in phase 2 to follow through, we have to worry about the lava hindering our moves, rykard cornering us, and those flying skulls. And it's not immediately clear where to roll to dodge his sword swings. Not to mention how the lava interrupts our moves and healing too. This boss just tests how much health we have and how much we can tank. There's no strategic way to move around either. And the fucking camera system with the lock on is so dogshit there too

It absolutely does work. I've done this many times including in recent patches.
Dude this isn't a guide. This is just you fighting him. You're not explaining any mechanics, I frames to use, optimal time to attack or stun locks. Mays well just be streaming a sloppy playthrough with bulk HP and armour for cushion.
