Nah the way Ekko was living his Sims 3 Animal Crossing fantasy life and Jayce got tossed into a Dark Souls speedrun is crazy 💀 It’s also so heartbreaking looking at it from the perspective of heroism through literally opposite lenses - Jayce had to escape this world (his worst nightmare) to prevent it from happening to his, while Ekko had to voluntarily leave his paradise (literally a best case scenario “what if” situation) to save his own reality. Loved the commentary on this one dawg, much love 🔥🙏🏽
The translation of the song Ekko and Powder dance to is so perfect for them (and for almost every relationship in Arcane, tbh) Here's the chorus: "But my best enemy is you Flee from me, the worst is you and I But if you keep searching for my voice Forget me, the worst is you and I" The whole song is about doomed and complicated love 🥺
When I first got to this episode, I was really questioning it due to its placement in the season, thinking it might drag or disrupt the pacing considering what happened last episode, but this might be my favorite episode of this season with a beautiful look at what might have been. Also, Stromae dropping an amazing song was not something I was expecting from this season
When you really think about it this episode destroys you emotionally on so many levels. It's both beautiful and heart breaking especially when you see the state Jinx is in in the next episode.
'Ma Meilleure Enemie' by Stromae is such a great original song. The lyrics are genius because the word for 'friend' in french is 'ami' which rhymes with 'enemie/enemy', so it's a play on words saying my best friend is also my enemy which fits perfectly with this episode and only makes sense in the language that it's sung in
They definitely upped their animation game, not sure how. Warwick vs Jinx, Sevika vs Smeech and last episode have points where things really look 3 Dimensional. I notice it in Jinx’s character the most
I have a good couple complaints about season 2 but God this episode is literally my favorite episode of the entire show, I can't explain. It's basically fanfic lol and yet I love it so much
The Hextect people look the fossils of people erased from existance. The cosmic horror angle works very well showing the arcane that is powerful, unknowable but still feels naturally occurring.
Alternate realities are actually canon in League of Legends. Apparently, there have been multiple ones that have existed and various different champions being from them. And there's also a cosmic horror that has destroyed previous realities and their lore, so it's inclusion in the show makes sense (thereby establishing that Arcane and the three realities presented are also a part of the multiverse of LoL, thus not conflicting with what was previously established, such as how certain characters who die in the show are still alive in the game).
Couple of cool references in this episode that are hard to catch: If you look at Powders's Reflection at 1:29 you'll see that the Powder in the mirrors mouth is turned down and she looks sad rather than happy, looking a lot like the Jinx in the main timeline. I'm not sure whether you actually caught that on your first watch, if you did that is pretty impressive. If you rewatch the Scene at 7:13 where he's walking through the crowds, you can see a wheel on the right side of the screen for a couple of shots with a bunch of odd symbols on it. Among these symbols are a decent amount of real logo's for top-tier Esports League of Legends teams. Specifically for James VS Cinema: You mentioned them bringing in Sci-fi Cosmic Horror in this universe at 5:48. Without knowing League of Legends, you wouldn't be aware but you'll find League of Legends has a significant amount of Cosmic Horror elements, and it will be fantastic seeing what they do with those in Arcane's follow up series!
Literally the best music of the whole season was Jayce climbing out of the hole. The best music of the whole season in general is in this episode, i fw with the Minecraft sounding synth stuff while they’re building the anomaly. Like if there’s any problem i have with arcane, it’s that 90% of the music is corny as hell💀💀 but the story is damn good. I just wish they would ditch the sappy pop music for either more orchestrated music or just something more subtle. The show would have way better emotional moments and dramatic moments if we didn’t have “if you or a loved one has mesothelioma” type beats playing in the background everytime
Easily the most bittersweet "What if?" episode in television history. At least, in a different reality, Powder didn't lose her mind.

Hahaha how about that?? We share similar thoughts with this episode.

8:36 that transition was foul😭😭

Heimerdinger? No sir, that's HeimerSinger.

Just an FYI Yordles (the small furries people) are immortal beings and will respawn eventually.

Best episode of the show.
Possibly my favourite episode of the whole show, season 1 or 2 - Jayce plays Elden Ring, Ekko & Heimerdinger play Life Is Strange.

What a beautiful beautiful story. That track went straight into my playlist also 😂
The whole soundtrack is in my rotation a lot
