      Been following this channel for a minute, I think what would be great is if you started to showcase some assets and templates from unity & unreal that allow you to build a game. With everything most people have to do I don't think everyone has time to make a game from scratch.
      Also it's not we are building it from scratch in using an engine so why not a template from an engine.

    I love that despite how much LDTK has changed since this video was published, the core concepts are 100% the same. I've been meaning to learn LDTK for years now, and this tutorial is one of, if not the best, I've found for onboarding. There are some good ones for importing levels into different engines out there, but for LDTK 101 this is the best!

    I was interested to see where this was going to go the last time you covered it, and man it does not disappoint. I think they're taking this in an awesome direction! I'm going to have to check this one out myself.

    What 2D game engines will this export to? Will it export (I don't mean a simple .jpg) to GDevelop or Godot for example?

      It exports to a json file which you have to implement in your game engine. There are plugins being developed for Godot to do a basic import. github.com/lrgilbert/godot-LDtk-import

    • @holopengin
      @holopengin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can export to Tiled, so if your engine has a Tiled importer and not an LDtk one it'll still be usable.

    I wonder how easy it'd be to combine this with Phaser. I'm completely a noob in game design, mostly just watching from the sidelines. Don't know if combining them would be trivially easy or impossible. And by combining I guess I mean making the maps and then programming behavior with Phaser.

    I missed the humble bundle. Anyone know where one can buy those tile sets normally? Level design has always been the main thing holding me back from making any game projects and I see I'm going to need outside help to overcome that obstacle. This software looks great.

      Go into your purchases on your Humble Bundle account and the new items should automatically have been added. Not sure if the new ones will be at the bottom or not though; you might have to check to see what you had already downloaded to see what is new.

      Wondering this too. There's a C++ plugin, but I have no idea if/how it works with Unreal. Hope someone out there knows because importing as PNG is going to be a pain

    • @DeepnightGames
      @DeepnightGames 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScaerieTale You can easily import the JSON itself by using the existing importers listed on the website. As of displaying levels, it mostly should be a matter of displaying rectrangle tiles from an atlas image. I don't know much about UE for this part, but you may ask on the discord :)
