    Touch the chair or sit is a big differnce.

      As I demonstrate in the video, the bottom must "touch" the chair to ensure that the muscles are continuously activated throughout the test. Once you're sat down the muscles relax which you can do on the 5th one!

    Hi, I’m on the journey to become a professional football player, but I have numerous issues and I’m not entirely sure why. I’m 16 years old and athletic, so I’m not entirely sure if they are even actual problems that I should take into account and just play with. My lower back area hurts under intensive play, I have knee issues where it just pains remarkably, my hip flexor area feels strained to lift above my stomach after a game, and I’ve had no surgeries and I do have a strength program. I’ve also been following along on your videos on lower back pain, hip pain, and others. Do you have any other recommendations or have any idea what the issue may be?

      It's difficult to know what it is without really knowing you. I would suggest that you consult a physical therapist who may be able to provide you with some answers.

    Hi Richard. I am 74 and meet four of the frailty criteria. I suffer massively with extreme mental and physical fatigue but my doctor has found no organic cause after blood tests and an abdo ultrasound. My own hypothesis now is that 3.5 years of insomnia has made me spend so long sitting down that all my muscles have weakened. Does that sound plausible? I am now making a point of getting up from my chair and moving around every 25 minutes. Every two hours I do five minute work out. Until insomnia hit me when I was 70 I was as fit as a butcher's dog.

      Yes, inactivity is probably the biggest cause for muscle loss, so do what you can when you can as you've mentioned.

    I have decided to engage with a personal trainer. I have gotten so frail in the past year (it started around this time last year). I used to be able to do the sit to stand. I have discussed it with my cardiologist and he said to do whatever I must to gain some strength and I got a steady chair that I am using. It is so strange to slide down this path, but I will start somewhere. Being depressed is not helping much either. Thanks for being a positive influence.

      Glad it has inspired you and I'm sure you can make progress.

      Depression seems to me like a natural corollary to extreme fatigue. It's no fun when you cannot do 20% of what you used to do, especially when it comes on suddenly.

    Thanks, Richard. Very helpful. I am 68. What weight of dumpbells do you recommend?

    • @ExerciseForHealth
      @ExerciseForHealth  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well everyone will be different strengths and one exercise may need more or less weight than another. I use 4kg dumbbells in my videos as I know I can do every exercise with them, but they are too light for some of the exercises I show (for me).
